…and just like that, half of 2015 is over. I cannot believe how quickly this year is flying by and that today is already July 1st! I thought today would be a good day to do mid-year review on my 2015 goals.
At the end of December I wrote this post about my 3 main goals for 2015. Let’s see how I’m doing so far!
Run 15 Half Marathons in 2015. I’m pretty much on track for this goal. This past Sunday I completed my 8th half marathon of the year so I’m already more than halfway toward this goal. This summer I’m going easy on the races. I have 2 5Ks and 1 half marathon in July and no races in August. Of course I’ll still be running and training but it will be nice to have some time off from races during the summer. What’s really crazy is that I have completed 15 races this year – more than I completed in 2014 and we still have 6 more months left in the year!
Complete the New York Road Runners (NYRR) 9+1 Program. Completing this program guarantees me entry into the 2016 New York City Marathon. You run 9 NYRR races (of any distance) and volunteer at one race. I fulfilled my volunteer requirement back in March and I’m happy to report that I’m only 1 race away from this goal! I will complete this goal in September after I finish the Bronx 10 Miler.
This actually brings me to a bonus goal…
Run the NYC Half Marathon in 2016. I wanted to run the NYC Half Marathon in March but I didn’t get selected through the lottery system. NYRR offers guaranteed entry to the race if you complete 4 out of 6 in their Five-Borough Series. I’m also only one race away from completing, so after I complete the Bronx 10 Miler, I will be crossing two goals off my list for 2015!
HOORAY!!! |
Run 1,007.5 Miles in 2015. Most people are opting to run the full 2,015 miles but I knew that would be too much for me, so I split this with a partner. Welp…this is one goal I’m really not sure I’ll be able to complete. So far I have logged 357 miles for the year. I should really be somewhere near 504. I will admit that I didn’t log nearly as many miles as I should have during the winter but I plan on increasing my mileage during the second half of the year. I’m hoping that I can hit this goal (fingers crossed).
