I make no apologies that I run for the bling. Don’t give me diamonds or jewelry, all I need is a kick-ass medal and you’ll see a very happy woman 🙂 I’ve had the opportunity to travel a little more this year and was lucky enough to run races in 6 different states. From 5ks all the way up to my first marathon, this was an awesome year in bling.
I love race medals for various reason, but the most important reason is because each medal tells a story. I can look at a medal and automatically tell you how I was feeling during that race, my least and favorite part of the race, things I saw on the course, etc. 2016 was a definitely a year of ups and downs due to a few injuries, but I’m still very happy with my medal haul this year.
Virtual Runs. I love virtual runs because you can do them on your own time and they often support awesome charitable organizations!
Five Borough Series Medals. I was happy to run in all 5 boroughs this year!
A few random race medals from this year. The Hot Chocolate race had the coolest medal and it was also my first 15K!
All my Rock ‘n’ Roll races! This year I did four RnR races and I had SO much fun at all of them – San Diego, Chicago, Philadelphia and Las Vegas!
Usually it’s hard for me to pick out a favorite medal but not this year! Br far my favorite medal this year is my New York City Marathon medal, duh!
NYC Marathon 2016! This will be my favorite medal for a LONG time!
I’m not sure how many races I’ll do in 2017, but I’m looking forward to adding more bling to my collection!

You earned sooo many medals!! You’re so right that every medal tells a story, I never thought of it that way! I love all the ones from RNR, I really wish I was able to make it to more cities this year. Congratulations on becoming a marathoner!
RnR usually has really good medals (except for the Philly 5K medal lol). I don’t think I’ll be able to travel as much next year so I’m glad I was able to go to a few places this year!
Congrats on an epic year Kim! Yeah the NYCM medal is a total sweetie. I still look at mine in awe Wonderful memories!

I’m so jealous of all your NYC running! I live in Brooklyn in 2005-06, but wasn’t really running at the time. I feel like I really missed out! NYC marathon is definitely high on my race bucket list.
Thanks for stopping by my blog Clarinda! Like you, I lived in NYC from 2006-2008 but I wasn’t a runner then. Now I live in CT and have to travel into NYC for the races but I still love it!

I’m with you, I absolutely run for the bling! I added lots to my 2016 race collection- so much so that now I feel like I need a THIRD medal holder to separate all my obstacle racing and regular running medals!
I actually just purchased a medal holder a few weeks ago, this will be my third, lol. I’m thinking that I may beed to buy one every year to hndle my bling addiction!
