Happy Friday! Today I’m linking up for Friday Five 2.0 with Rachel from Running on Happy and Lacey and Meranda from Fairytales and Fitness. Since Valentine’s Day is next week, today’s topic is LOVE 🙂
They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Well it’s also the way to this woman’s heart as well. I love food. I’m definitely in the “live to eat” category and not “eat to live”. I mean honestly, what’s better than a delicious dinner full of your favorite foods? I think that we’re so lucky that we have so many different foods and products to choose from.
Since Food = Love, I thought I’d write about my 5 favorite cookbooks!
1. Runner’s World Meals on the Run
Do you need healthy meals in 30 minutes or less? Then this is the cookbook for you! What’s great about this cookbook is that it contains 150 recipes and it’s broken up into a bunch of different sections. Through this cookbook I found many new snacks and breakfast options.

2. The Runner’s World Cookbook
This was the first Runner’s World Cookbook that I purchased and it did not disappoint! While some of the recipes take a longer than 30 minutes to complete, it’s totally worth it. With 10 different chapters ranging from breakfasts to desserts, there’s something for everyone in this cookbook. I would recommend the meat and poultry mains or fish and seafood mains chapters if you’re looking for inspiration for your Valentine’s Day meal 🙂
I purchased this cookbook toward the end of last year after reading SO many good things about it. I already owned a few cookbooks, so I was hesitant to get another one, but trust me, this is a cookbook that you want to own. Olympian Shalane Flanagan teamed up with Chef Elyse Kopecky to deliver more than 100 delicious recipes in this cookbook. I’ve made a few recipes from this cookbook so far and the Superhero Muffins were my favorite (so far)!
This cookbook clearly states that it’s not a fade or a diet. The author gives tangible ways to implement healthy eating in your everyday life. There’s even a section for comfort foods which proves that you can still eat healthy and enjoy your food!

5. The Perfect Portions Cookbook
It’s hard to stick to the portion size when something tastes really good! Also it’s really hard to know what constitutes a serving size of non-packaged foods because there is no nutrition label. What I love about this cookbook is that the recipes are quick and easy to make, and you can adjust the recipe based on how many portions you need. This makes the meal perfect for meal prepping too! The lasagna and steel cut oatmeal are two of my favorite meals from the cookbook.

What foods do you absolutely love? Is cooking the way to your heart?

I’ve got Meals on the Run and I gifted Run Fast, Eat Slow. Some good ones here!
kookyrunner says
So kind of you to gift that cookbook to a runner!
Marcia says
I feel like I’m the last runner on earth who doesn’t have Run Fast Eat Slow. Need to get it!
kookyrunner says
I felt like I was the last runner on Earth not to have it, so that’s why I purchased it, lol
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
A friend gave me the everyday detox book and I have to say I have not even opened it yet. Thanks or the reminder!
kookyrunner says
No problem! I think you will like it!
Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says
I definitely have a cookbook problem. I love reading them but I hardly make anything from them!
kookyrunner says
I am the exact same way – I’ll use one for a week or two and then it will sit on my shelf. This year I’m going to try to make one recipe per week from different cookbooks.
Annmarie says
Can you believe that I have ZERO of these. Clearly I need to check them out- they all look awesome!
kookyrunner says
You are a natural great cook so you probably don’t even need cookbooks!!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Love Detoxinista! Unfortunately my husband is a meat & potatoes kind of guy, so often I’m just cooking for myself. Been a while since I made something from it — I think it’s time!
kookyrunner says
That cookbook actually sounds awesome – I’m going to look it up. Thanks for the recommendation!
Teresa Bird says
I’ve been seriously considering buying the Run Fast, Eat Slow cookbook…it seems to be very popular right now. The Meals on the Run one sounds like a good one for me as I love to cook but don’t like spending hours in the kitchen! I’ll check out your review. Thanks for the great info!
kookyrunner says
No problem! I think that you would love either one, or both, of the cookbooks!
Lesley says
I don’t have any of these, but portion size is so important. I had to adjust to no longer being a collegiate athlete, even when something does taste so good. I save up those meals and have leftovers during the week. It makes cooking easy, and tupperware is great for portion control.
kookyrunner says
I agree. I love using glass tupperware to help siwht portion control, and also storing leftovers 🙂
Jenn @ Run with Sole says
I haven’t seen Meals on the Run yet! And I also love Run Fast, Eat Slow too. It’s a great book!
kookyrunner says
I’m excited to tackle a few more recipes from the Run Fast Eat Slow cookbook this weekend!
Kimberly Hatting says
I need to get on the boat and add Run Fast Eat Slow to my library. Pronto! The Meals on the Go looks like a winner, as well 😉
kookyrunner says
I think you would really enjoy both cookbooks!
Ana says
Somebody once gave me a low calorie book, and I tried to find a recipe that I would cook, but nothing looked good! my favorite cookbooks are ones for cookies and cakes.. I have a ridiculous amounts of those!
Thank for the list! i’ll check them out!
kookyrunner says
LoL, me too. I love cupcakes so I would probably bake those all the time, which is so bad!
Susie @ Suzlyfe says
I love cook books, but have I ever cooked from them?
No…
LOL!
kookyrunner says
LOL, I often fall into that category, but this year I promised myself I would try a recipe a week lol
Clarinda says
I think I own 3 cookbooks. Two are vegan, which I usually modify somewhat so they aren’t exactly vegan when I cook them. The 3rd is Cooking with Coolio, which I got as a gag gift for my birthday one tear. It actually has some pretty fun recipes in it. I should dig these out again soon. I usually find most of my recipes on Pinterest, though.
kookyrunner says
Cooking with Coolio needs to be on my bookshelf immediately, LOL
Jill Conyers says
I have all 3 RW cookbooks. And Everyday Detox is in my Amazon cart. I love cookbooks. Actual books that I can hold in my hand.
Have a great weekend Kim!
kookyrunner says
Looks like we have the same taste in cookbooks!
Hope you have a great weekend as well Jill!
Jenn says
It’s been a long time since I purchased and used a cookbook. I’m pretty good at creating my own meals, and pretty bad at getting ingredients at the grocery store, so you see my dilemma.
That being said, i love to cook just about everything and should really get myself at least one of these to help mix things up.
kookyrunner says
I need more of a step by step guide to make my meals edible, lol
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I keep saying I need to order Run Fast Eat Slow and then I forget – thanks for the reminder 🙂
kookyrunner says
Lol no problem!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
The only one of these I have is Run Fast Eat Slow and I love it. The others look great too!
kookyrunner says
I really like the Run Fast East Slow cookbook!
Coco says
I have the first three – will have to check out the others. They sound great!
kookyrunner says
We have so many in common – great minds think alike! 🙂

Oooh, thank you for this list! I’ll have to add some of these to my queue.
kookyrunner says
No problem! Glad you found some new ones to add to your collection 🙂
Mary Beth Jackson says

kookyrunner says
Happy to find someone just like me when it comes to food!
Toni says

kookyrunner says
I am cooking a few recipes form those first three cookbooks this weekend!
Richard Friesen says
I think I will get Everyday Detox for my daughter. She is complaining that she had too much of junk food last week. This will do good for her and I can stop her nagging.
kookyrunner says
LoL. I totally know how your daughter feels. I’m sure she will love the cookbook.
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
These all look great! Everyone’s been talking about Run Slow, Eat Fast…I like cookbooks but I usually jump to Pinterest for recipes. I’m now starting to use more cookbooks as I step up my cooking game!
kookyrunner says
It’s funny because I am just starting to get into Pinterest now so I guess we’re switching roles a bit, LOL
Chaitali says
I’m definitely in the Live to Eat category too 🙂 I’ve been hearing tons of great things about Run Fast, Eat Slow. I definitely need to look into that one.
