Happy FriYAY! Today I’m linking up for Friday Five 2.0 with Rachel from Running on Happy and Lacey and Meranda from Fairytales and Fitness.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I’m the team captain for my company’s team for the Hope in Motion Walk and Run taking place on June 4th! I’ve participated in this race for the past few years and this year I really want to step up my fundraising – that’s why I’m hosting a giveaway! I’m giving away 5 awesome prizes to raise money for the Bennett Cancer Center.
The Bennett Cancer Center is a member of the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Care Collaborative. The Center has skilled suregons, access to state of the art clinical trials, technology proven diagnostic services and a nurse navigator program. Your donations will make a world of difference to all of the patients at the Bennett Cancer Center. Here are a few ways your donations will help:
Here’s how the fundraiser works!
– For every $5 you donate here, you’ll receive one ticket for my giveaway ($10 donation equals 2 tickets, $15 donation equals 3 tickets, etc)
– On June 3rd, I’ll place all the tickets in a hat and randomly draw names for the prizes. Winners will be notified later on that day!
Here are the prizes!
$25 Dick’s Sporting Goods E-Gift Card
$25 GAP “Options” Gift Card. Can be used at GAP, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Athleta
4 Tubes of Nuun – Watermelon, Tropical, Fruit Punch and Lemonade

Have you ever participated in fundraising for an event? Any tips or tricks to share?
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
I love when runners use their passion to help others. I do not have any tips to offer you but good luck with such a great cause
kookyrunner says
Me too – anytime running can do some good in the world, I’m all for it!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
Raffles are great! Plus share your positive experience with the charity and event on social media. Share why you are participating. Good luck meeting your goal for this great cause!
kookyrunner says
Thank you so much for your donation Erica – you’re the best!
Thanks for the great fundraising advice!!
Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says
I do not have any advice on fundraising and in fact may be looking for some myself as well. Fundraising is always a scary task because you want to do your best but it is definitely a lot of work. Good luck.
kookyrunner says
I agree – fundraising can definitely be scary, but what I love about this race is that there is no fundraising minimum, so no pressure!
Debbie says
This sounds like a great cause. I ran my first marathon for Team in Training. This was back in 1996, when they were pretty much the only charity that did this. I also ran for Fred’s Team and got to run the Paris Marathon!
kookyrunner says
Team in Training and Fred’s Team are such awesome organizations! I really like the charity aspect of running, especially for larger races!
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
Great cause and great prizes! I ran a marathon for a local charity and it was so meaningful.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Wendy! I love big races, but also love the local ones, especially when they give back!
Rachel says
These are great prizes and what a wonderful cause! I’m not a charity runner because it makes me so nervous with all the fundraising pressure, but this looks like a great way to do that!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Rachel! The great thing about this event is that there is no fundraising minimum so it takes the pressure off!
Mary Beth Jackson says
What a great way to raise money! Good luck with your fundraising, nice approach!

Thanks so much for your donation Mary Beth! This is my first time hosting a fundraiser giveaway so i hope it’s successful.
Anna @ Piper's Run says

kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Anna!
Marcia says
What a great cause! I ran my second Chicago Marathon on the Lupus Charity team in honor of our babysitter who was diagnosed at age 12.
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome Marcia! It’s so good when we can use running to give back 🙂
Kimberly Hatting says
I always have a donation page when I do the Fight for Air Climb. I think sharing your passion for the cause, as well as any personal ties you have for it, really speaks from your heart. Good luck!!
kookyrunner says
That’s great advice – Thanks so much Kim!

Fundraising is tough but a raffle is a great idea! I did a bake sale at my office when I was fundraising for the NYC half.

Thanks Nicole! I might try a bake sale at my job, that’s a gret idea!
