Happy Friday! I always consider January to be an important month, but this year it has a little more meaning as it’s my one year anniversary with Peloton! After using the bike and the digital membership over the past year I thought today would be a good time to outline a few reasons you should try Peloton!
Variety of Classes
You can choose from a variety of classes on the Peloton digital app – cycling, running, yoga, boot camp, HIIT, strength training, walking, stretching and meditation. On any given day you have access to 20+ live classes and more than 10,000 on-demand classes. Also the classes range from 5-60 minutes which gives you the opportunity to fit a class no matter how busy your schedule is that day!
It’s Affordable
Although you can purchase the Peloton bike or treadmill, you don’t need their equipment to use the app. Currently the price of the digital app membership is $19.49 a month. Think about how much you pay for a monthly gym membership or other boutique fitness classes. Even if you only take one class a week, that comes out to $5 per class. To make the deal even better, they are currently offering 2 months free for new members!
The Instructors
You really can’t go wrong taking a class with any of the Peloton instructors. You can tell that the company only hires super motivating, strong and dedicated instructors. Although I have a few “go-to” instructors, I know that whatever class I pick will be with a quality instructor. I also appreciate that they are always dropping pearls of wisdom during classes. They do an amazing job of motivating you during a workout, especially during the crazy hard parts. Want to see what I mean? Just follow Cody, Robin or Ally on Instagram and you’ll get a little taste of what I’m talking about! Also check out this recent New York Post article on a few of the instructors and the Peloton movement.
Their Equipment
Peloton offers both a cycling bike and treadmill for purchase. I have the bike and absolutely LOVE it! Because of the way it’s set up with the screen I always feel like I’m in a studio taking a real class. I also like having the bike because when the instructors call out the resistance range during class, I’m spot on with them (this could be a little harder to do if you’re using the app with another bike). I think this video does a great job at showing what it’s like taking classes with the bike.
I can’t speak to the treadmill since I don’t own it but so far all the reviews I’ve read have been good.
It’s a challenge
Personally I love a challenge and a little competition. When taking the cycling classes, you can view your rank against other people that have taken the same class. Talk about motivation! After every class, you get a report showing your total output and calories burned as well. I often use this data to see if I can “beat my numbers” on my next ride.

Have you ever tried Peloton? Do you enjoy spinning
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
I completely agree! I am loving my Peloton so much. I am also finding myself taking a bunch of classes on the app like post run stretch and yoga. So glad I jumped on board!
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome! I want to take more of the post ride stretches. I did one and it felt do good after a hard ride!
Darlene says
I’d love to try. I’m not much of a biker but this sounds like fun.
But the bikes are expensive, right?
kookyrunner says
The bikes are around $2,000 I think, so definitely not cheap, but I think if you use the bike a lot, it’s a great investment.
Ivanna says
I want to try this so bad but the bike is out of my budget right now. Hopefully one day I can. Thanks for the review now I want to try it even more.
kookyrunner says
Totally understand. It’s a big investment for sure!
The Accidental Marathoner says
I wish I had the extra cash AND the room for a Peloton bike. Right now both spaces are a little too full! I didn’t realize you can subscribe without owning their bike (or treadmill). I will have to check out that option!
kookyrunner says
Yup! I like to really stress that fact since I know the bike and treadmill are pretty expensive!
Rachel says
I’m definitely intrigued. All your posts on IG are really inspiring. And it does sound affordable. Maybe I should try it! Thanks!
kookyrunner says
I think if you just want to use the app, it’s really affordable. I know a lot of people that access the app on their iPad/tablet to do their classes.
Chelsea says
That’s so cool! I didn’t know you could use their digital app! Thank you for sharing!! I’d love to give this a try for sure!
Have a great weekend!!
kookyrunner says
No problem! I always like to share that bit of info when I can.
fairytales and fitness says
I had no idea that you could take the classes from the app and not have the equipment. I have my Nordic Track bike and treadmill that is equipped with the iFIT program and that seems to be doing okay (although I do feel the subscription is expensive) so I’ll be sticking with that for now.
Thanks for linking up with us and teaching me something new!
kookyrunner says
Yeah I don’t think a lot of people know that about the app so I try to share that whenever I can!
Kimberly Hatting says
All the classes sound fun and interesting with the instructors “right there.” I’d be nervous with my stats being there with all the other peps taking the class, though LOL
kookyrunner says
LOL at first I was a little nervous about the stats but now I don’t care as much. I only look at my own and I think most people are probably the same way.
Farrah Fong says
This sounds awesome! That’s cool that they have so many on-demand classes! Someday I’ll get back into biking, but it’ll probably have to wait a bit!
kookyrunner says
The on-demand classes are key for me since I don’t really do the live classes.
Coco says
I love my cycling classes, but peloton sounds amazing. I’m intrigued by the treadmill and app too!
kookyrunner says
I’m going to try one of the treadmill classes soon. My mom does them all the time and loves it!
Renée says
oh! I didn’t realise that there were more workouts with the app that you could use without the equipment! this is kind of a game changer!!! Though I would love the bike … it’s just not available here and I don’t have the cash anyway. I’m looking forward to when it comes to the Benelux region though (they are now in the UK so fingers crossed soon…)
kookyrunner says
I just saw that they are in the UK which is so cool!
Angela Cardamone @marathonsandmotivation.com says
I would absolutely love to try out Peloton. It sounds so amazing!! I am looking froward to checking out there app too!!
kookyrunner says
That’s great! I hope that you get to try the app soon 🙂
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I am dying to try the Peloton! I am trying to convince my husband it’s worth the investment…then I’ve got to figure out where I’m going to put it 😉
kookyrunner says
If he likes to spin or is interested in any of the classes on the app, it would definitely be a great investment! I think that it could easily replace a gym membership.
Esther says
I have so many friends who love their peleton bikes! I am not a big fan of working out at home, so it would be a challenge for me, but it would be fun to have the app for when I am traveling 🙂
So glad you are still enjoying your bike a year later!
kookyrunner says
I really do love the bike and can’t say enough good things about the bike, classes and instructors!
Cari says
I’m curious to try more with Peloton. I’ve only seen a bike once at a hotel fitness center but didn’t have my headset so really couldn’t experience it. My only gripe is the incessant emails since then. Glad I didn’t give them one I use regularly, just my marketing email list catch alls.
Hope to run into one again soon as I definitely don’t have the space for my own machine
kookyrunner says
Oh that’s a bummer about their emails 🙁 They usually send me one email a week so I guess I got lucky!
Cari says
Three in the last week from “%%Peloton_Employee_Email_Address__c%%” which is a pet peeve in its own way
Michelle C says
I am really wanting one for me but also for my hubby who isn’t a runner. I think he would love it and it would be a great way to get a great work out in and be easier on his knees while he looses weight. I have heard nothing but great things about the bikes and I would love to keep my cycling up during the winter!
kookyrunner says
I have the bike and I can’t say enough great things about it. If I had the money I’d buy the treadmill too!
