Happy Friday! I hope that everyone had a great week 🙂 I didn’t really have any clear topic for today’s post, but was inspired by Wendy’s Loving/Not Loving post from last week. I definitely have a few things that I’m loving, and not loving this week. Let’s discuss!
Currently Loving: Brooks Bedlam Sneakers. This is the new support sneaker from Brooks and I love the look of them. They are also pretty lightweight. While I love the 2 pairs of Launch sneakers that I have, those are neutral sneakers and they aren’t good for long distance runs.
Not Loving: The $150 price tag 🙁 The most I’ve paid for a new pair of running sneakers is $100 (I always wait until they are on sale). I’m cheap frugal, so I’ll have to wait a few months to pick these up!
Currently Loving: Berlin Marathon Winner Eliud Kipchoge! He set a new marathon world record at 2:01:39. His average pace per mile was 4:38. I honestly still cannot wrap my mind around that. It’s just unbelievable and proof that the sub 2 hour marathon is definitely a possibility.
Not Loving: This news station. While it was awesome that they covered the story, they couldn’t even be bothered to say his name. This man is a supernatural athlete that just accomplished the near impossible. I think the least they can do it learn his name and use it when reporting on the story.
Sidenote – If you’re not following @MilePosts on Twitter, you should! I love her Twitter feed.
Currently Loving: 2019 Boston Marathon Entries. My social media this week has been all about runners submitting their qualifying times, and being accepted, into the 2019 Boston Marathon. I’m just SO happy for all of them! It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to BQ and it’s great to see their dreams come true.
Not Loving: This douchebag. Not only did he cut the course and cheat to submit a BQ time, he stood by his lies and started putting blame on everyone else but himself. He even had the audacity to set up a GoFundMe page to pay for his travel to Boston! There are follow up posts on this story here, here and here. This guy is a Grade A a**hole!
Currently Loving: Fall officially starts this weekend. Although we are still dealing with humidity on some days, I’m totally looking forward to the leaves on the trees changing, cooler weather, apple picking and pumpkin everything. It’s such an awesome time of the year!
Not Loving: Early Holiday Decorations. The fact that I started seeing Christmas and Halloween decorations in AUGUST is ridiculous. I mean honestly who is buying candy two months before Halloween? I don’t buy it until the week of Halloween. If I buy it any earlier, it wouldn’t make it all the way until Halloween lol. Oh, and don’t even get me started on seeing Christmas wrapping paper and ornaments right next to the Back to School section in some stores!
Currently Loving: Racecations. Although I’m no longer getting PRs, there’s just something about a racecation that makes me fall in love with running again. Training can get a little boring, but I always love running into friends when I travel for races. It brings me a lot of joy 🙂
Not Loving: Airline Prices 🙁. While I’d love to get out to the West Coast for more races, these airline costs are killing me. Can’t we get a frequent flyer program for runners?
…and that’s it for this week!
Do you have anything that you’re loving/not loving this week?
I’m linking up for Friday Five 2.0 with Rachel from Running on Happy and Lacey and Meranda from Fairytales and Fitness.

Such a weird story about that guy who cheated to get the BQ. Why double down once you got caught! I mean, don’t cheat in the first place but if you do and if you get caught, don’t make it even worse 🙁
kookyrunner says
Exactly! It’s like just admit that you’re a jerk and move on. I cannot stand people like that.
Laurie says
I’m with you on the racecations! So much fun to run and travel. Or travel and run. My current trip doesn’t involve any running at all. Hoping the 9 day layoff will be beneficial when I finally get back home!
kookyrunner says
They are really so much funny and a nice break from my everyday routine!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
Those are super cute colors on the shoes. They have gotten pricey huh? I am also not a fan of holiday decor yet. Why can’t we enjoy the current moth and not push to the holidays so quickly?!
kookyrunner says
Right?! I just can’t see spending $150 for running sneakers that i know will be on sale in a few months, lol
Lesley says
I do have a limit on what I’ll buy for shoes, and thankfully NB is in that price range. When I wore ASICS, a store tried to sell me the model that was $150. No thank you. I’m loving the fall weather I’m getting in the mountains right now, with wonderful fall colors.
kookyrunner says
Yeah I just can’t spend over $100 on new sneakers!
De Bolton says
I am loving this post! And can they let us live in the present. I hate that we are so busy looking ahead its hard to enjoy whats here one Holiday at a time. Such a cute post!
kookyrunner says
Exactly! I just want to enjoy the holidays as they come. I hate that things are so forced!
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m intrigued with the new Brooks Bedlams, too…but ((OUCH!)) that price tag is a red light LOL I do plan to use my R’n’B discount to score some new Adrenalines in the next few days, though 😉 I have been so busy playing catch-up since Philly, I had not seen the (faux) BQ dude–>pathetic.
kookyrunner says
Yeah, a definite red light lol. I’m glad you’ll be able to use the RnB discount for a new pair of sneakers!
Pathetic is the right word for the faux BQ guy.
Stephanie says
I am loving the start of fall and looking forward to the cooler weather before we get to the freezing temps. I was in awe of Eliud Kipchoge, what an incredible run!!!!!
kookyrunner says
Me too! I’ve been waiting for Fall since the first day of summer, LOL
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
I loooooooove Christmas so I do love seeing Christmas decorations in the store already. However, I totally understand how some don’t like it. I mean, there is an order of holidays and I feel like it is more normal to want to go through them in the proper order.
Normally, I put up my outdoor holiday lights in mid November, but I made a big decision to not put them up until Black Friday this year. the reason is… I just have SO MANY. I have about 10 blow ups and a bunch of other lights. I feel like it is going to be SO OBNOXIOUS and I just can’t put my neighbors through having to see the them starting mid Nov. 🙂
kookyrunner says
I also love Christmas, but I think they could hold off until November to start putting the holiday stuff in stores, lol. I also do not put up holiday stuff until after Black Friday. We have SO much holiday stuff in the basement that it usually takes us a whole day to take it all out and decorate the house, lol
Wendy says
I love your loving/not loving post! Aren’t they fun? Anyways, I am with you Eliud Kipchoge. After watching Breaking 2, I was in love. He is so nice but such an amazing athlete. Why wouldn’t the news guy say his name? If anything, it’s fun to say!
And don’t even get me started on that a-hole who tried to get into Boston with a half marathon finish time; now he’s claiming he didn’t know he only ran a half. Riiiiiggghhhttt…and gee, what a shocker that he’s in politics. Learned from the commander in chief, that’s for sure….
I’m anxious to hear more about those Brooks! It was time to replace my Mizunos and I had to pay full price. Not loving. I like the Brooks Adrenaline but I did get a sore foot last week–was it the shoes or RA? I didn’t want to invest in another pair of Brooks until I road tested mine a little more.
Have a great weekend!
kookyrunner says
I’m still in awe of Eliud Kipchoge’s run! A week later and I’m still like “how did he do that?!”
That Boston Marathon guy…I just can’t with him! He just seems like such an obnoxious prick and it was no surprise to me that we was formerly in politics, lol
Rachel says
I would totally sign up for the frequent flyer program for runners. Where do we do that?? 😉
kookyrunner says
I hope that someone really does make up that type of program one day, lol
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
The new Bedlam are pretty cool! I run in the non stability version, the Levitate. I really like them.
I agree about airline prices! I’d love to get out to the West Coast for more races and Pro Compression meet ups! But yes the ticket prices are insane. Not to mention having to stay out there for a few days.
And I have to admit…I’m that person that bought candy corn the first time I saw it in the stores. I have to trick myself into thinking that Halloween is close by and that fall temps will be here soon!
kookyrunner says
I’ve heard good things about the Levitate. My mom loves them and she just picked up the new version.
Totally relate to what you said about wanting to get out West more. It seems like there are so many fun races out there but the airline prices stop me from going there. It’s such a bummer!
Coco says
I just got the Brooks Ravena and am wondering if I should have tried the Bedlam — but maybe I’ll spend the $45 difference somewhere else! I am not loving the lingering humidity!
kookyrunner says
I haven’t tried the Ravenas yet. Curious to know your thoughts!
Fairytales and fitness says
What?? I have not heard of that Boston cheater. I am so happy for all the Boston people that got in. I am happy for my sister who got in this year. She applied last year and even though she met the time requirement, it just didn’t happen for her. Thanks for linking up. -M
kookyrunner says
I kept seeing the story about the Boston Marathon cheater in a few of the running groups I’m in on Facebook. I really couldn’t believe the story and how he just kept lying, even after he was caught!
Congrats to your sister! What a huge accomplishment and I can’t wait to cheer her on virtually from CT next year 🙂
Hannah says
I haven’t seen Christmas stuff in stores yet, thank goodness! I think it gets earlier every year.
I can’t remember the last time I paid full price for running shoes, much less $150 – they bring out new models so fast, you know the “old” model will be on sale within a few months.
kookyrunner says
That’s exactly how I feel about runner sneakers. I can wait a few months to get them at a discount since new models are released all the time!
Chrissy says
It was so insane seeing Eliud Kipchoge cross in that time! Absolutely smashed the record and I can’t wait to hopefully see the 2 hour mark broken at some point in my lifetime.
kookyrunner says
I totally agree that we will see a sub-2 hour marathon in our lifetime!
Cari says
JetBlue is my godsend for west coast flights. Can you get to JFK sanely? Or I’ll do American out of Philly, though I hate that
Cheats make me so mad
I wish Marathon Investigations’ site was more mobile friendly
kookyrunner says
Yup I usually fly out of LGA or JFK. I’m about a 45 minute drive to both, but LGa is a little closer. When I went to California I took Jet Blue and it was amazing!
