Happy Friday! Today I’m linking up for Friday Five 2.0 with Rachel from Running on Happy and Lacey and Meranda from Fairytales and Fitness.
I love exploring new places through running and my travel has taken me to some pretty cool places over the past few years – San Diego, Las Vegas, Chicago, Philadelphia and Montreal, just to name a few. Sure, travel can be fun, but sometimes it can be stressful too. These travel essentials help to make my travel more enjoyable!
Airborne
When you travel and you’re surrounding by hundreds, sometimes thousands of people, you come in direct contact with lots of germs. Who has time to be sick on vacation? Not me! I’ve been using Airborne for the past 2 years whenever I travel and it has kept my healthy (knock on wood)! Each tablet has 1,000mg of vitamin C and it’s high in other antioxidants as well. My favorite flavor is the zesty orange.
R8 Roller
Yes, it may look like a torture device, but it’s necessary to keep my muscles happy, especially when traveling! I was gifted the R8 Roller last year for Christmas and it’s one of my favorite gifts ever! Its very compact so it can easily fit in your suitcase. Trust me, your legs will love it, especially after running a half or full marathon!
Wordsearch Books
Whether I travel by train on plane, I can never sleep. To keep myself occupied I often do wordsearch puzzles. Does anyone else do this? I know it’s kind of old school but I really like it. It also helps me feel like I’m using my brain instead of watching hours of TV shows or movies, lol.
Multiple Device Charger
I often travel with my family so that mean LOTS of different electronic devices – cell phones, iPads, laptops, etc. Not to mention all of the items that need to be charged fr running – headphones, iPod and my GPS watch. A multiple device charger definitely comes in handy! We first tried this out during our trip to Montreal and it was a lifesaver since there weren’t many electrical outlets in the hotel room.
Pro Compression Socks
I pretty much live in the over-the-calf Pro Compression socks when I travel. Racecations can include a Lot of walking – visiting the expo, exploring the city by foot, and of course, running all the races! These socks help my legs and feet feel less fatigued and sore. Wearing compression socks on flights can also help prevent leg swelling and reduce risks of DVT (deep vein thrombosis).
If you want to try out Pro Compression for yourself, use code PRO17 to save 40% off these socks!
In other news, Pro Compression just opened up their 2018 Ambassador applications TODAY! As a “legacy” ambassador, I cannot say enough great things about the company and the program as it really feels like a family. If you’re a fan of their socks and want to continue to spread the ProCo love, I encourage you to apply!
What are your must-have items when traveling?
Deborah Brooks says
The roll8 is the best-what did we do before those came out?!
kookyrunner says
No clue but I’m so glad that we have it!
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
I love packing for trips! I make a list and then go through a very ceremonious process of gathering everything and packing it just right. 🙂
I hate word searches! But the funny thing is, my students LOVE THEM. If I give them a word search, it’s like the best day of their lives! I’m more of a crossword puzzle gal, though I was into Sudoku for awhile.
kookyrunner says
Me too! I have a list that I use to make sure that I don’t forget anything.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Food. Gotta bring food with me. Seriously. Zinc lozenges & oscilliococum (or however it’s spelled). Tea — because I’m particular about my tea.
And, of course, running shoes. 🙂
kookyrunner says
Definitely! I do bring certain foods with my too.
Abby @BackatSquareZero says
I am so out of the loop, I have never even heard of a multiple device charger before.
kookyrunner says
Don’t feel bad! I just found out about it a few months ago.
Josephine says
great list, i don’t leave town without most of this however I would not have thought to bring airborn so thanks!
kookyrunner says
No problem! Airborne is great!
Karen Bayne says
The multi charger is a big must have! We have so much tech to charge up the night before a run lol
That is a great discount offer!
kookyrunner says
Exactly! I’m all for anything that streamlines the process!!
Farrah says
I need that multi charger in my life! :O!!
kookyrunner says
Check it out if you can!
Marcia says
Wait there’s a multiple device charger?? I’ve been living under a rock apparently!
kookyrunner says
Don’t feel bad! We just found out about it a few months ago!
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
oooo I need a multi-device charger!
kookyrunner says
It’s amazing! And it charges the items really quickly too.
Mary says
The Roll8 looks like something I might like to have. We have the Armaid which is a really good one for rolling out your arms (good for computer users, which we pretty much all are at this point). But I don’t think it can really get the legs, which is where the Roll8 would be good.
kookyrunner says
The R8 is really cool! It’s not exactly “enjoyable” lol, but it is very helpful.
Chrissy @ Snacking in Sneakers says
That multiple device charger thing is so smart! I need to get one of those for home and traveling.
kookyrunner says
It’s SUPER helpful!
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I need that multiple device charger!!!
kookyrunner says
It was really super helpful during our last few trips!
Coco says
That roller is great but it’s so heavy! I usually stuff a bumpy ball in my bag and roll my feet.
kookyrunner says
I have a lacrosse ball that I use too!
Rachel says
I really want to try the R8 Roller! I keep hearing amazing things about it.
kookyrunner says
It’s amazing! It’s definitely not “enjoyable” but it really does help a lot, especially with the IT band area.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
That multiple device charger is a great idea! And I love my R8 roller but i actually haven’t traveled with it. I usually bring the stick and a lax ball to save room in my bag.
kookyrunner says
I agree, it can take up a good chunk of space in a carry on suitcase but I always find a way to fit it in lol
Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says
I need AirBorn NOW…lol. I could tell yesterday I was getting sick!
kookyrunner says
Oh no 🙁 I hope you are feeling better now.
Angela @marathonsandmotivation.com says

I take Emergen-C when I travel. I love that multiple device charger to have at home. 🙂 I rarely do word search puzzles but thank you for the idea. I just ordered one from Amazon.

That’s great! I hope you enjoy the word search puzzles 🙂
Clarinda says
I’ve been waiting for applications to open! I need to sit down and apply this week. 🙂 I love that you do word searches. I like to read when I fly.
