Happy 1st day of December, but more importantly it’s #GivingTuesday!
What exactly is #GivingTuesday? Here is the official definition from their website:
“We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.”
- Shop Small. If you missed out on supporting a local business on Small Business Saturday, why not make a purchase today? Stop by a local running store and purchase some running fuel, or maybe a pair of socks or a new sports bra. Getting deals at big box stores or online retailers is always a good thing, but remember to shop local too!
- Make a Donation. The easiest way to make an impact on #GivingTuesday is to make a donation. Please remember, no donation is too small! Does your company offer a matching gift program? If so, that’s a great way to double your impact!
- Donate your time! So many charitable organizations could use some extra help, especially now that it’s holiday time. Sometimes donating even just an hour of your time can make such a huge difference.

YES – time! I think people forget about time and expertise as a way to give. I'm writing a note of gratitude to a friend who I don't see all the time. (I've got 30 other giving actions I'll be doing this month!)
