Happy Sunday! I can’t believe that I just completed week 4 of training. It seems like the weeks are going by quickly, especially this past week! I’m happy to report there was no snow this week which made working out much easier! Let’s see how I did in week 4.
Monday 3/20
5 mile run to kick off the first day of Spring. This run wasn’t that great because I had a hard time getting my breathing under control, but I was happy with the run overall.
Tuesday 3/21
Body Work + Abs class (55 minutes). I was happy to get back to this class this week. Unfortunately my IT band was bothering me all day, so I took it easy in class and did A LOT of stretching and rolling after class. The Roll Recovery R8 roller is ah-maz-ing!
Wednesday 3/22
Boot Camp class (55 minutes). Another great class filled with tons of weights, lunges, squats and core work.
Thursday 3/23
4 mile run + hip/glute exercises and more rolling. I had an ART appointment after work that really helped alleviate most of my IT band pain. I did 4 miles on the treadmill after my appointment and followed that up some hip and glute exercises, and more rolling.
Friday 3/24
Rest Days are the best days π
Saturday 3/25
6 mile run. The weather was cloudy but nice and cool. I really enjoyed this run and was happy with the pace.
Sunday 3/26
Sundays are for double workouts! Body works + Abs class, followed by spinning!
Total Weekly Miles – 15
Total Training Cycle Miles – 51
Grade – A-
Week 4 was pretty solid. I got in all of my runs even though I had a minor IT band flare up. I gave myself an A- this week because I didn’t get in any Yoga, which my body desperately needs. Next week I’m in Minneapolis for a conference from Tuesday-Thursday so I’m going to have to mix up my workouts a little bit. Luckily the hotel I’m staying at has a decent gym!
In other news, huge shout out to all the runners that earned PRs today! My twitter and Instagram feeds were full of runners discussing their PRs and that makes me so happy!
Speaking of races, I have finally decided on my Rock ‘n’ Roll races this year! I’ll be doing the RnR races in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Montreal and San Antonio. IF you’re doing any of these races, I hope to see you there!
How was your week? Are you training for a race? Let me know in the comments!
Iβm linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap, the Jessβs, (Jess Runs Atlanta and Jess @ The Right Fits) for their training recaps and Courtney for her Training Recap Link Up!
You had a really solid week! Great job getting on top of the ITB before it gets bad.
I hope you get to run outside in Minneapolis! I hear it’s beautiful there.
Thanks Wendy! On Tuesday I was like “Oh no”, so I really tried to be proactive about it!
I’m really hoping I get to run outside there on Wednesday or Thursday π
Great job this week and Im glad you were able to catch the IT band before it got bad! The R8 roller really is amazing. I have to travel for work for a few days this week and Im hoping the hotel gym is decent!
The R8 roller has brought a tear to my eye more than once, but it’s so good! I don’t have to travel for work too often but when I do I am thankful for a hotel gym!
You are so consistent with your workouts. What a great week minus a little IT band issue. Keep an eye on that but keep up the awesome work!!
Thanks so much Courtney! I like having a routine – it helps to keep me focused!
Wow week 4 already. Time is flying. Great training week Kim! How nice you’ll be able to do 4 RnR’s this year. So much fun!
Time sure is flying by! I’m definitely looking forward to my RnR races in the Fall and Winter.
It sure was nice to have a snow-less week. Of course, here comes the rain, but I guess it’s always gotta be something! Great week of workouts, and love the “believe in yourself” shirt.
I agree! Although we had weird weather it was nice not to have any snow π
Thanks! I got that shirt from Old Navy.
Nice job this week! Hip and glute exercises help so much to keep my ITB under control. I hoped you nipped the issue in the bud. There are so many great RnR races to choose from. It’s hard to decide. Thanks for linking, Kim!
I think that I got to the issue in time, thank God!
Ahhh! Great news that your IT band is feeling better; that’s got to be a relief! I keep saying I’m going to splurge on one of those Roll Recovery R8s and haven’t done it; maybe that can be a treat soon! Hope this week is a good one for you!
I hope that you will treat yourself to the roller soon!
Wait, what- Minneapolis! Where are you staying? We could try to meet for a run!
Great week and ART is amazing- it’s definitely helped me with IT band issues.
I’m staying at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis Hotel. I think it’s near the Convention Center. Is that near you?!
ART is so amazing!
Well, I live in South Minneapolis, but I could definitely come to you for a run along the river. Are your evenings already booked? I could do Wednesday morning if that’s better…Shoot me an email at therightfits@gmail.com if you want to meet up!
Thanks Jessie! Once I get my schedule tomorrow, I will shoot you an email!
Great job on your week of workouts Rather than working out on the first day I spring, I went to Rita’s for a free Italian ice…haha. I have heard that the Roll Recovery R8 is awesome! I need to try it.
Oh I wish I had a Rita’s near me, I love Italian ice!
I’m on week 4 of training too!! I’m impressed with your double workout Sundays- most Sundays I find it hard to do anything!
I like working out on the weekends because I can get my workouts done early!
Great week! Glad you were able to manage the IT band issues. That Roll Recovery R8 looks like something I really need to look into!
The R8 roller is awesome!
What a brilliant week of workouts. I love how you mix things up quite a bit which keeps things really interesting. Good luck when you are away for work and glad the hotel has a decent gym!
Thank you! Yup, I’m lucky that the hotel has a great gym!
Wow, that’s a lot of RnR races – Montreal sounds great! I had a deep tissue massage last week that was rough but worth it!
I’m excited for the Montreal race! I don’t have deep tissue massages often because they hurt, but you do feel so much better after!
seems like a great training week! I can see why you’d grade it an A-. Bummer about the IT flare up (it’s so common in runners!) but looks like you know how to take care of it. We’ve had that roller for a couple of years now, it’s an amazing thing!!
I’m “training” as much as my body will allow me. My plan at the beginning of the year was to run a PR at the quarter marathon in Rotterdam this year but my back had other plans for me. So now the plan is to run it and enjoy it. My friend Babette is going to pace me so at least I can push it a wee bit (for that feeling of badass satisfaction at the end of the race π )
I think I’m going to do Vegas this year as far as a RnR race in the US goes. I WISH I could do more but for some reason or another I’m also compelled to be a responsible bill-paying adult…
Sorry to hear about your back π You are so smart for not running through injury!
LOL. Adulting is hard! I wish I could run all the RNR races in the US. They are so much fun.
those yellow shoes are super cute! I love all of your inspirational t shirts π Have a great week
Thanks. They are my current favorite pair of running sneakers! Old Navy honestly has the best affordable and cute active tops!
I did my TX half in my former hometown, Austin, which was a ton of fun. San Antonio is so lovely! And I did the inaugural RnR Montreal way back when. Big hill towards the end, unless they’ve changed the course.
I’m looking forward to the San Antonio races. I’ve never been to Texas before!
Oh I hope they changed the Montreal course because my legs revolt against hills, lol
You had a great week! Too bad you’re not doing Vegas for R’nR….you’re on my “must meet someday” list π Have fun in the Mini Apple!
You’re on my list as well! I mean we have the same awesome name, lol π
My IT band has been bugging me for a few days again, too. :/ IT bands are dumb.
I agree – they are dumb and quite annoying! I feel like it’s an injury I’ll always struggle with.
Wow! So many rnr races! How do you travel to them all?? So jealous. Do you have traveling partners to go with?
My mom runs too so we do all of the RnR races together!
So sorry to see that IT Band is still flaring up. I hope the ART appointment and all teh stretching really helped out.
It really helped and I’m going to be proactive and do the exercises more often and foam roll twice a day
LOVE the yellow shoes! Sounds like your training is going very well and you seem really enthusiastic. YAY!
Thanks Elle!
Great week of workouts! I finally decided on a race (June 18th) and am starting to get excited about it!
That’s awesome! I always love that excited feeling you get after signing up for a race
Great job! Love those PC socks – I have the same ones!
I have the Publix Savannah Women’s Half coming up in two weeks. This weekend, i’m running two 5Ks with my son. And then there is a tri in late April. Eek!
You’ve got a busy April coming up!!
Anytime you can give yourself an A- is a solid week of training! I’m not training for any specific races at the moment, just trying to recover and get back to my previous running self…
Thanks Debbie! I’m really trying to make sure that I have a strong training cycle!
Great week! And good for catching the IT band early. Hope it won’t bother you .
Thank you Smitha!
Great job this week! I love following your journey!! I hope you enjoy Minneapolis! It also sounds like you have quite a variety in places for the RNR series…Montreal is great!!!
Thanks Angela! Minneapolis is such a fun city – I just wish I had more time here so I could explore it more! I’m really looking forward to RnR Montreal!!
Great week for you! I registered for RNR Las Vegas- that is exciting!
That’s awesome that you registered for RnR Las Vegas – I hope you have fun!
What a great week of training! And yay for your hotel having a good gym. That’s always helpful with staying on track while traveling.
Thank Kathryn! I’m planning on using the hotel gym tomorrow morning before i have to travel back home!
