Happy Sunday! Week 5 was so-so. I didn’t get in all of my workouts, but I did complete all of my runs, so it wasn’t a total loss. I think that traveling always throws off workouts and that’s okay! Let’s re-cap the week!
Monday 3/27
5 mile run (treadmill) + an awesome mail day from Pro Compression!
Tuesday 3/28
Unexpected rest day due to traveling to Minneapolis. I had a 4am wake up call to catch my flight and then I went straight to the office from the airport. After work, I met up with Lora for dinner which was awesome! I think I got back to the hotel around 8pm, and I was pretty exhausted, so no work out.
Wednesday 3/29
5 mile run around Minneapolis! I was able to find a 90 minute window after the conference to get in a run outside and it was glorious. The weather was great and it was a nice way to explore part of the city. Here are a few photos from my run:
Thursday 3/30
30 minute strength workout. I hit the hotel gym before going back to the conference. The hotel gym was SO nice – definitely the best hotel gym I have used. I was able to use the free weights and kettlebells to work on arms, legs and core.
Friday 3/31
Rest Day. Fridays are usually my rest days, but I was going to try to get in a workout to make up for Tuesday. Between getting home at 7pm the night before from the conference, and then working a full day on Friday, I was just too tired.
Saturday 4/1
5 mile run to kick off my birthday! I was hoping to do this run outside, but it was rainy, cold and windy, so I had to take it to the treadmill. Of course today is nice and sunny – figures!
I was supposed to run 7 miles, but I switched this week’s long run with next week’s. It kind of made sense because next week I’m running a 10K, so I’ll just add a mile to that to make it my long run.
Sunday 4/2
Double Workout Sunday – Spinning and Body Works + Abs class π It was nice to get in a good sweat session after overindulging the day before!
Total Weekly Miles – 15
Total Training Cycle Miles – 66
Grade – B+
Like I mentioned earlier, week 5 of training was so-so. I am happy that I got in all of my runs, but not happy that I didn’t get in enough strength training this week. I also didn’t get to do any workouts from my DVDs either. I’m back to my regular workout routine this week and I’m looking forward to that very much! I have a busy week at work, but I’ll just work around that.
How was your week? Get in any good runs? Are you training for a race? Let me know in the comments!
Iβm linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap, the Jessβs, (Jess Runs Atlanta and Jess @ The Right Fits) for their training recaps and Courtney for her Training Recap Link Up!

Happy Birthday a few days late! Keeping up with workouts while traveling can be so tough. I only traveled for 2 days this week but I was exhausted! I think you did great and will be back on track this week with your strength training!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Lisa! I’m looking forward to getting back on track this week with my strength training workouts!

As you know, my fitness routine was a bit out of whack last week as well. I think if one is in all around “fit” (and I know you are), it’s okay to have a week that’s not so regimented. I think it plays more havoc on the mind than the body when we have to improvise LOL
kookyrunner says
I think that is so true. I’m sure my body was like “don’t worry, it’s all good” but my mind was like “you didn’t do enough strength training this week..AHHHH!” lol

How great you met Lora! Seeing your pics brings me right back to the Twin Cities Marathon. St. Paul’s Cathedral was very close to the finishing stretch. Aaah! Looks like a great birthday week!
kookyrunner says
I really enjoyed meeting Lora in person – I love meeting IG friends IRL π Even though I only saw a little part of the city, I would love to run a race there someday!
Gina says
Well… happy belated birthday! What do you do for work? I should probably run in Mpls someday, since I’m only a short drive away! π
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Gina π I do work in internal communications and diversity and inclusion for my company – I really like it. I think you would love Minneapolis. I only saw a little of the city, but it was awesome!

Your pics of Loring Park made me homesick. I miss that park. I hope you enjoyed your run. Did you go to the sculpture garden when you were there? It’s across the street from Loring. π
Great job with your workouts while traveling!
kookyrunner says
I really enjoyed Losing Park and I think I saw no less than 50 squirrels, lol. They were all over the park having an awesome time. I did go to the Sculpture Garden as well!

Nice job this past week! I was out of town this past week for a conference too, it can make it tough to squeeze in workouts, but thankfully I had a very light week on the plan. Those socks are too cute – I need to get more ProCompression gear!
kookyrunner says
I think this was a travel week for a lot of people! I hate when my routine gets thrown off but I just did the best that I could! I have so many Pro Compression socks – I just can’t stop myself from buying all the awesome colors and designs!

I’ve never been to Minneapolis! What do you do for your job that you travel there?
kookyrunner says
It’s a great city. I was in town for a conference but also stopped by our office in Eagan, MN. The conference was about diversity and inclusion – it was really good!

I did! Thanks Nicole!

As of today I’m training for a half in WA at the end of the month, LOL!
Last week was mostly just a rest week for me, but I did have a lovely run yesterday. And I’m taking an extra rest day again because the weekend was super busy & tiring!
Happy Birthday!
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome! I would love to do a race in Seattle one day.
Smart to listen to your body and take those rest days when needed! Thanks for the birthday wishes! π

Happy Birthday! A run is a perfect way to kick off the day! Your 5 miler around Minneapolis looks fun. You got a lot of great pictures during your tour. You really lucked out on that hotel gym. It’s my experience the stuff is pretty worn out or broken. Maybe I’m just not staying in the right places. LOL. Thanks for linking, Kim!
kookyrunner says
Thanks for the birthday wishes π
I lucked out with great weather during my run in Minneapolis. I stopped a lot for photos lol.
Chrissy @ Snacking in Sneakers says
I definitely struggle with the strength training piece the most. It’s the first thing that gets nixed from my week if I end up too busy. I’m trying to make a more concerted effort to fit it in at least 1-2x/week!
kookyrunner says
Same. I always put more emphasis on getting my runs done so I also will nix strength training if I don’t have enough time.
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
What a great week of training! Keeping up with workouts while away is never easy, but you fit in the workouts when you could. Way to go!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I’m happy to get back to my regular schedule this week π

kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Anna!
Jenn says
Happy birthday!
You did a great job getting in all your workouts, especially while traveling. That’s awesome.
I know how it goes when you get in one portion of your planned workouts (runs) and don’t accomplish as much in your cross-training. At the end of the day, it all balances out. You’ll make up for it. <3
kookyrunner says
Thanks for the birthday wishes Jenn!
I’m looking forward to getting back on track with my strength training workouts this week!
Sherry says
Happy belated birthday! Way to get your running in! Always harder when travelling. It’s been hard getting cross training in for me too. I can’t believe my next race is already this coming Sunday!
kookyrunner says
Thank you Sherry! good luck this weekend at your race!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
