Happy Sunday! I got back on track this week as far as hitting all my workouts. My whole body is currently on strike and I hope that my legs feel better for tomorrow’s runs. LEt’s recap this week!
Monday 4/3
5 mile run + 10 minute hip/glute workout from the Run & 10 DVD.
Tuesday 4/4
Body Work + Abs class – 55 minutes
Wednesday 4/5
Boot Camp Class – 60 minutes
Thursday 4/6
Rest Day. I attended the Team Captain Kick-Off Meeting for Hope In Motion in the evening. This is the biggest race in my city each year (5K, 10K and a Walk). I have done this race for years and I’m happy to be the team captain for my company this year and looking forward to fundraising for the Bennett Cancer Center!
Friday 4/7
4 Mile Run + 30 minutes of Yoga. It felt great to get a good stretch after the run!
Saturday 4/8
Body Works + Abs class – 55 minutes. Lots of arms, core and leg work! It was also National Beer Day but sadly I didn’t enjoy a beer that day π
Sunday 4/9
My training plan called for 7 miles, so I did a one mile warmup and then ran the NYRR UAE Healthy Kidney 10K in Central Park (race recap will be posted on Wednesday) in my Purple Rain race outfit (LOL). I started off the race pretty strong and then it kind of went downhill. The first 2 miles were great, but after running a HUGE hill between miles 2-3, my legs felt horrible. The rolling hills mixed with the strength workout on Saturday was not a good decision, LOL.
Total Weekly Miles – 16.2
Total Training Cycle Miles – 82.2
Grade – A+
I felt great about this week’s training! I hit all my workouts and even ran a race as part of my training. I also did a lot more foam rolling and stretching. MY ART appointment this week went well so I was happy about that. I’m trying a few new classes in the next few days (stretching and Barre), and I’m really excited about that! Speaking of trying new classes, I just signed up for ClassPass yesterday. I want to try some new studios/gyms in my area, so this is a perfectly affordable way to do that! Great job this week- congrats on getting in all your workouts! A strength workout followed by a hilly run would leave my legs beat as well!

Whoa! What is this Run & 10 DVD? I need to hear more about this! Congrats on a great training week; great job sticking with it at the 10K (that sounds TOUGH!) and what a fun idea to get your run in. Hope you have another nice week coming up!
kookyrunner says
The Run & 10 DVD is an awesome DVD that has a few 10 minute workouts (and one longer workout). The 10 minute workouts each focus on different things – arms, core, hips/glutes, etc. It’s by Runner’s World!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
courtney @ eat pray run dc says
Nice work! I use class pass to visit studios other than pure barre but this week I’m using it to go to a pure barre in Chicago, which is awesome! π
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome! I really love the idea behind Class Pass because I now get to try a bunch of studios for a reasonable price!
Coco says
Sounds like a solid week! Those Central Park hills are tough!
Which Mizunos are in that first picture (yellow)?
kookyrunner says
Yes they really are considering I haven’t run those hills since October!
Those are the Mizuno Wave Inspire 10s. They are a few years old but I purchased a few pairs when they were on sale π
Jess @ Jess Runs ATL says
Great job this week! Do you have a fundraising goal? Let me know how I can help!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jess! I set a fundraising goal of $500. I’m about half way there now and I’m thinking of doing a giveaway as a fundraiser. Thanks for offering your help!

Looks like you had a great week of workouts. I am still trying to get consistent with my runs. I have been on and off with them and babying my knee which has been acting up. These recap/running posts inspire me.

Wow way to go! Your variety of training is what I’m striving for. It is so easy to run, run, run with some yoga thrown in the mix, but this week I’m focusing on strength training again. Hello sore muscles!
kookyrunner says
Oh yes, strength training will always lead to sore muscles lol. But it makes us stronger!
