Happy Sunday! Happy Easter and Passover. This week was a bit of a whirlwind – let’s recap!
Monday 4/10
5 mile run. Yikes – this was a super hard run because of the race the previous day, but I got through it!
Tuesday 4/11
Flexibility class (60 minutes) and Body Works + Abs class (55 minutes)
Double workout day! I took a flexibility class during my lunch break and it was awesome! It felt good to stretch out all of my sore muscles. After work I took my usual body works + abs class and tortured my body a little more, lol.
Wednesday 4/12
Boot Camp Class – 55 minutes. I was kind of sore from the classes the previous day, but it was still a good workout.
Thursday 4/13
Core Fusion Barre class – 60 minutes. I took my FIRST barre class and I really enjoyed it. I felt a little intimidated because I was the only newbie in class (!), but the instructor was super nice and extremely helpful. I definitely had to “embrace the shake”, especially during some of the pulsing moves. Wow – I have a lot of work to do in order to get stronger, but I’m going to another class on Monday and I can’t wait! I also went to Happy Hour with a friend to celebrate our birthdays this month. It was fun and I really need to do that more often.

Friday 4/14
4 mile run. I had 5 miles on my training plan, but a sinus headache forced me to cut it short. In the big picture, one mile definitely won’t make a difference in training, so I didn’t really mind cutting the run short.
Saturday 4/15
9 mile long run. This was my longest run since the NYC Marathon, so I was a little nervous. I won’t lie, the run was pretty ugly. I had some knee pain during the first half of the run – silly me, I forgot to use KT Tape on my knees like I normally do for long runs. Then around mile 4 I got another sinus headache on the right side of my head. It made it a little difficult to see out of my right eye, but luckily I always wear sunglasses on outdoor runs. Overall I ran a little slower than I would have liked, but I just had to listen to my body and stop and/or walk when needed. I got the miles in so I was happy about that.
Sunday 4/16
REST DAY IS THE BEST DAY!!! I was going to go to the gym after church this morning, but opted for a rest day instead. After 9 days of working out without a rest day, my body is thanking me today. Plus I got to enjoy these bad boys.
I gave up junk food for Lent, so I’ve been eyeing these Reese’s peanut butter cups for weeks!
Total Weekly Miles – 18
Total Training Cycle Miles – 100.2
Grade – A+
Even though I cut Friday’s run short, I’m still going to give myself an A+ this week. I completed my long run and I also added two new classes to my workout routine this week. I really enjoyed the two classes I signed up for via ClassPass . If you’re interested in joining, click here and you an receive $30 off your fist month!
Allergies really messed with me this week. I don’t think my allergy medicine is working anymore π so I’m going to try a new brand. I’m also going to pick up some nasal spray and eye drops. While I do drink water during the day, it’s probably not enough. A few years ago my doctor told me that drinking water can help keep histamines in check, so I’m going to make sure I drink at least 64 ounces a day. I’m also going to pick up some local honey to add to my green tea that I drink every morning. Hopefully these changes will help alleviate some of my allergy symptoms.
How was your week? Are you training for a race? Do you have any tips for dealing with seasonal allergies? Let me know in the comments!
Iβm linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap, the Jessβs, (Jess Runs Atlanta and Jess @ The Right Fits) for their training recaps and Courtney for her Training Recap Link Up!
My allergies have started bothering me this week too, but I haven’t been taking anything for them. I should probably focus on drinking more water! Great job this week!
Thanks so much Lisa! I hope that your allergies get better this week. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!
Hey! Great week of training – definitely deserving of that A! I don’t get allergies but a friend of mine who does SWEARS by water. So definitely increase your intake – hopefully that will work xx
Thanks so much!I am hoping the water intake really helps this week!
Wow, two workouts in one day!! Way to go lady! No allergies here so no advice from me. Sorry. My week went well too. All of my runs have been easy (12:57-13:57) but I find myself going too fast. Sigh. Problem, right?
I’m glad that you had a good week of training as well!
Sounds like you really earned that rest day this week! Nice
Definitely! I spend the day napping, working on a few blog posts and enjoying Easter dinner with the family – it was perfect!
Sorry about the allergies kicking in – but you had a great week! You’ve definitely earned a rest day! I hope you enjoyed those Reece’s eggs – my fave π
Happy Easter!
The Reeses eggs were super yummy, lol! Hope you had a great Easter as well!
I have heard good things about Exhale for barre…they seem to have locations all over! Glad to hear you liked it. Barre is fantastic for runners!
It was my first time at the studio and they were great – I’m going back this afternoon π Good Luck in Boston today!
I’d agree you earned an A+ for last week! My allergies were such a mess….sorry if I have already told you my story….but I finally did 5+ years of allergy shots (weekly), and I’ve been great ever since. I do have an occasional stuffy nose and gunky eyes, but it’s very minimal to what I had prior to all the shots. Have you ever considered doing allergy shots? It’s a huge commitment (5 years, for me at least),but it was worth it.
I was tested for seasonal allergies a few years ago to see what exactly I was allergic too. The test came back that I’m basixcally allergic to everything (trees, pollen, ragweed, etc). The doctor recommended the shot, but I declined. Now I’m thinking I might have to re-visit that if things dont get better. Thanks for the recommendation!!
I’m basically allergic to everything outside but the sun, moon, and stars….I feel your pain!
LOL, me too! Sigh, allergies are the worse!
Ugh on the sinus headaches – they sound horrible. That flexibility class sounds like something I really need!
The flexibility class was great! I’m hoping I can get back to that studio this month
Yay barre!!! This pollen is just downright disrespectful. Ugh. I have to rinse off every night before getting into bed or I’m miserable!
Me too! I have to do that or I sneeze all night.
What a great week! Hope you find success in combating the allergies. I’ve been sneezing up a storm this year!
Thanks Jennifer! I’m hoping the pollen count will be down this week!
Nice job pushing through the 9 miles even though it was a struggle. I hope you find an allergy medicine that will work for you again!
Thanks, me too! It’s been rough this past week!
Allergies are the worst. I hope you get some relief soon. Also, I’m so glad you tried Barre! My legs always shake. Lol. It’s such a good compliment to running!
I’m hoping that this week will be much better when it comes to my allergies. OMG, I couldn’t believe how much my legs were shaking during Barre!!
You had a great variety of workouts this week! Nine days? You deserved a rest day! I have those green shoes. I ran the heck out of them. They were my favorites for a long time. I’ve taken Allegra for several years in the spring but notice it doesn’t seem to be doing the job this year. What’s up with that? I hope you find the answer to yours. Thanks for linking, Kim!
I think our bodies get immune to the allergy meds after a while – it sucks! I’ve been switching up my sneakers on my runs and I’m loving the Mizuno 11s (the green ones)!
What a great week of training! Sorry you had a sinus headache – those are no fun! Glad you were able to get some rest yesterday π
Thanks so much Annmarie – the rest day yesterday was awesome!
I’d say you more than earned that rest day and that candy! Great variety of workouts! Seasonal allergies affect me slightly, not usually enough to medicate. My allergy to cats drives me bonkers.
Thanks Marcia. I’m also allergic to cats as well, and it drives me crazy too!
You had a great week! I’m glad you liked barre class – it’s such a great challenge and apparently perfect cross-training for runners! And I think you did a great job on your 9 mile long run despite not feeling the best!
The Barre class worked a lot of different muscles. I can definitely see why it’s so poular among runners!
I had a serious case of “everything is sore” and another head cold last week. I’m so ready for spring and more outdoor running!
Oh no, a head cold mixed with soreness is no good π I hope you are feeling better!
Headaches are the worst, especially when they interfere with our ability to go about our lives and be active. Hopefully you’re feeling better and more like yourself again.
Definitely! Luckily I don’t get sinus headaches often, and today I didn’t have one so it was a good day!
So you liked the barre class? Did you get the thigh shakes? Crazy right? We are runners! LOL! You had a great week! Good luck with the allergies- I think more water is always a great answer!
I really liked the barre class – I went to another one today after work! My thigh shakes were so bad!
Sure hope you can get your allergies under control again. It is hard as they can change so much. The honey in your green tea sounds very nice and I know honey is a healing agent too. I wish you well with it.
Thanks Elle – I hope so too! Today was a good day so I hope it continues to be a good week.
Sounds like a great week, Kim. My allergies have been bugging me a touch, too. I worry about when the flowers and trees are in full bloom…
Keep it up!!
Thanks Rachel! I’m also worried about the flowers and trees in full bloom as well π I had a good day today so fingers crossed that it continues!
Seasonal allergies are the worst! I usually just try to push through them – if not, Claritin is my friend.
You had a great week! I love all the variety you were able to fit in!
I wish I could use Claritin but it doesn’t work for me π Hopefully this week will be better!
Sinus headaches are the worst – I’m struggling with sinus pain this week and it really does put a damper on my running. Hope your allergies are getting better! Great work this week!!
It really makes running so uncomfortable! Hopefully we both have a better time dealing with allergies and sinus pain this week!
I can so relate to your My Everything is Sore picture, in fact, I just ordered a tank with this very saying on it because it’s so me!
LOL that’s awesome!! I should buy that shirt too!
I’m impressed with your ability to keep running with a headache! It’s the worst!!! Allergies in GA have been on HIGH since January or at least it feels like it.
Thank you! It’s not something I would recommend but I just wanted to make sure that I got the miles in!
