It’s April! We’re rocking and rolling through through the first half of 2019. A new month means it’s time for new goals.
Do you set monthly goals? I love doing these posts every month because it helps to hold me accountable, especially with my yearly goals. Sometimes it’s easy to get a little lazy with all of the day-to-day responsibilities that we have, but I always try to make my health a top priority.
First, let’s take a look at my goals from March:
Hit 75 Peloton Cycle Rides>
Grade: A+
I did it! I hit 75 rides on March 31. I’m excited to work toward my next milestone of 100 rides!
Run 60 miles>
Grade: B
I fell a little short of this goal by running 56 miles in March. I was going to aim to run 4 miles on the last day of March but decided to rest my foot since it was starting to feel cranky.
Daily Core Exercises
Grade: D
I definitely dropped the ball on this last month. I started out the month strong but about halfway through I just forgot to do core exercises daily. I think in order to have success with this I need to set a time every day to do the exercises – maybe first thing in the morning or right before bed. This will continue to be a work in progress for me.
Here are my goals for April!
Complete the Peloton Spring Launch Challenge
Similar to the Winter Launch Challenge in January, Peloton started the Spring Launch Challenge on April 1. The idea is to take one class every day for the month of April. I love the challenges because it gives me the opportunity to try an array of different classes. I usually stick to the cycling, strength training and stretching classes, but I’d love to do more yoga, meditation and running classes.
Try something new
I kind of feel like I’m in a rut. While I like having a routine, I’m starting to get a little bored. I’m hoping that trying something new will help me get out of this rut. Also it might be a great way for me to find something new that I like!
Eat more plant based meals
I already do Meatless Monday and I don’t eat meat on Fridays during Lent so I’m off to a good start. I would like to incorporate more plant based meals into my weekly meal planning. Eventually I want to try going meat free again but I want to take baby steps to get there.
If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for April?
I’m linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness.

I actually don’t set monthly goals, but I do kind of have global goals. I just adjust things as I go. It’s always a work in progress!!!
kookyrunner says
ME too – I’m a constant work in progress!
Marcia says
I actually have some goals this month (other than finishing London haha). I’ll share them on Monday. With my 13 yo being “newly vegetarian” I’ve given lots of thought to plant based meals lately.
kookyrunner says
I would say finishing London is a pretty good goal!!
Coco says
Great goals. For April I need to get back into a healthier evening routine — no late night snacking and going to bed earlier — they should go hand-in-hand. I’m not good at remembering exercise challenges, so I rely on my different classes to cover my bases. We usually do core in OTF and always do core at core power yoga. ๐
kookyrunner says
Yes, I need to stop the late night snacking too!
Liz Dexter says
I don’t set monthly goals – I know I have two super-long training runs to do this month (two more, I should say) and I want to stretch or do physio exercises every day and stop snacking except on a day when I’ve run 20+ miles or the day after that day. Remind me of this, please!!!!
kookyrunner says
When you run 20+ miles I think you deserve a good snack!

I love goal setting at the beginning of the month! Have a great weekend
kookyrunner says
Thanks, hope you have a great weekend too!
Fairytales and fitness says
Do you have a list of certain core exercises you do? That’s one thing I always slack on.
Thanks for linking up!
kookyrunner says
I usually stick to planks, side planks and situps but I think putting together a short list to follow would be helpful. Thanks for the tip!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
Peloton has some great challenges for sure! I have get my butt in gear. This month my goal is just to be injury free!
kookyrunner says
Yes! that is a great goal to have and hope your ankle is okay this weekend.
Darlene says
I do not set goals per se. I hope to run all the races that I sign up for…have no pain..cook more at home…go to the movies…read more…finish knitting that pair of socks.
There you have it.
kookyrunner says
I have a couple of “in progress” projects that I should really get around to finishing up soon, lol
Sandra D Laflamme says
Wow! 75 peloton rides is awesome!!! Go for that 100! Trying something new is always a good goal to have. I haven’t tried something new in awhile so will have to give something a go! Great goals!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I am looking forward to hitting that 100th ride.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Nice job on the Peloton rides! I find the core work (planks etc) work best for me if I just do them first thing…otherwise I tend to forget.
Great goals for April – I guess I better hurry up and set some before the month gets any older ๐
kookyrunner says
Yeah I think I just need to try to do like 5 mins of core when I wake up in the morning – just get it outta the way early!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I would eat a LOT more plant based meals if I weren’t married! Seriously, at one point we lived mostly apart for a couple of years due to his job, and I was a pescatarian.
So what are you thinking about trying?
kookyrunner says
I think that eventually I would like to be pescatarian but I know it will take me a while to get there. I really want to start off small this time and work my way up.
Kimberly Hatting says
Gosh, I donโt think I have set monthly goals for awhile. I do try to have different things to focus on (stairs, push-ups, etc.) but havenโt really gone public with them LOL You are really rocking the Peloton workouts!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! The Peloton workouts are really keeping me on track!
Laurie says
I don’t set monthly goals, but my long term goal is to eat more plant-based foods too. I already eat vegan or vegetarian meals 3 x week, but I would like to increase that number. I found some good vegan blogs and their recipes are helping me to stay on track.
75 Peloton rides in 3 months is awesome! You are doing great.
kookyrunner says
That’s great that you eat plant based for so many days during the week! Can you share some of those vegan blogs with me? I would love to check them out!
Kat says
I set monthly goals as well. It’s fun and it always gets me closer to where I want to be! Also as a vegetarian myself I’m wishing you luck with going more plant-based!!
kookyrunner says
I agree – I use the monthly goals to help me achieve my overall goals for the year.
Esther says
I also love to set some small monthly goals to give me something to focus on!
Good luck with your April goals, and go get that 100th ride!
kookyrunner says
Same! I like the small goals to help keep me accountable during the year.
