Happy Friday! Can you believe that we started another month yesterday? I don’t know about you, but this summer is flying by. Not that I’m complaining since I already cannot wait to experience Fall weather π
Since it’s the start of a new month it’s time to list my monthly goals for August.I love setting monthly goals to keep myself accountable throughout the year.
First, let’s take a look at my goals from July:
Continue the Peloton #CrushYourCore Program
Grade: A+
I finished the program and am still repeating some of the classes because I really like adding a quick core workout after completing some of my workouts.
Complete the Peloton Summer Launch Challenge
Grade:A+
This is an unofficial A+, only because the app didn’t register one of my classes earlier in July. Therefore Peloton is showing that I missed a day and didn’t complete the challenge, but I know I did a stretching class that morning. I was having major issues with the app that day so I’m not surprised.
Dial in my Nutrition
Grade: B
Although I did much better with making smart eating choices in July, there’s always room for improvement! I was able to meal prep more consistently which always helps me to make smarter choices, especially at work.
Here are my goals for August!
Run 100 miles
I was very close to hitting 100 miles last month so I’m confident I can do so this month. This would be my first 100 mile month in over a year.
Summer Cleaning
I’m taking off work for a week this month for another staycation. Although I wish I was going someplace tropical, I’ll settle for doing some summer cleaning (as opposed to spring cleaning). I’m sure I’ll also find some items that I no longer use that can either be donated or sold on eBay. I hate clutter so I try to do these types of cleaning twice a year.
Focus more on recovery
I always take one rest day a week on Fridays since that’s the day before my long run, but I need to be better about recovery during the week. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t always stretch and foam roll after every single workout. Sometimes I do forget, but most of the time it’s just me bing lazy. As the miles increase this month, I want to make sure I give my body more TLC.
That’s it for this month – wish me luck!
If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for August?
I’m linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.

You’ve got some great goals, Kim! I think my eating always has room for improvement. I definitely need to watch my evening snacking. It’s a bad habit that’s been creeping back. I’m bad about post-run stretching too. Why is it so hard?
kookyrunner says
Thanks Coco! Yes – my evening snacking is usually my downfall. I’m great during the day but them dinner time and after is always a wild card lol

A very good july, congrats. Good luck for your august goals.
Good plan to rest the day before the long run. Do you make an easy workout the day after?
Only a goal for me: one month injury free. Waiting for better times (and weather).
kookyrunner says
I usually opt for a spinning class after a long run to help flush out my legs.

no goals.
Just run,stay healthy
You had a great month.
i really need to spend some time de-cluttering. It’s hard when the weather is nice and it has been EVERY weekend.
kookyrunner says
Running and staying healthy are great goals for every month! π
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
I am really glad that you enjoyed the core program as well. I am still doing the classes just not in order. I think they make a difference. My goal this month is to suck it up and just make it through the heat better
kookyrunner says
I like your goal. I’ve been trying to do that all summer but I still have days where the weather makes me grumpy lol.
Virjinia @ With Purpose and Kindness says
Way to finish the Peloton challenge! I got in a bunch of meditation and I think it helped me build good habits! You will definitely get over a 100 miles as your training is ramping up. That plus OT workouts! That being said, recovery is major. I would aim for a good time foam rolling about twice a week and even just the 5 minute stretches after a run. Those seem a bit more doable and will get you into the habit! My goal is August is to recovery and try to stay active while doing so!
kookyrunner says
I did a lot of the core and meditation classes and loved them all!
Three days into August and I’m doing better about getting in my post workout stretches – hope this lasts all month!

You had a great month! I didnβt make it to 100 miles either, but that number isnβt a big deal to me. We still need to come up with a hashtag π
kookyrunner says
Same! I set a very conservative goal for myself to run at least 50 miles a month this year so running 100 would be a nice bonus!
Jenn says
You always have such amazing goals, and even better, you always smash them!
Enjoy your staycation! Sometimes a week off from regular life is just what we need!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Jenn!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You had a great July!
And yay for a staycation! I’ve got one coming at the end of the month too and cannot wait!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle! My staycation is the week of 8/19 and i can’t wait!

I wanted to clean this weekend, but it was so nice.
If you want to travel my way, you can clean for me π

LoL, maybe I need to start a “summer cleaning” service!
