Happy Sunday! This was another week that went by so fast. Work was super busy, including a quick 25 hour trip to Rochester, NY. It also seems like this has been such a heavy week. The news has been especially depressing and infuriating, and I have a feeling next week will not be much better. Because of this, I feel like we all need something positive. Funny memes give me a nice break from reality, so I thought I’d share two funny ones from this week.
Hope those two memes provided a smile π Now moving on to my training this week….
It was another easy week of training. I’m still battling my hip issue so I haven’t been working out as hard as I usually do. Nevertheless, it was still a good week. Let’s discuss
Monday, September 24
PT exercises (30 minutes).
Wanted to start the week off on the right foot with a lot of PT exercises to rehab this cranky hip!
Tuesday, September 25
PT exercises (30 mins) + HIIT Spinning Class (30 mins).
It rained literally all day so I was all about the indoor workout.
Wednesday, September 26
Strength Training (30 mins) + 1 mile walk.
I worked a half day and then headed to the airport for my flight to Rochester. When I got to my hotel around 4pm, I responded to a few work emails and then hit up the hotel gym for a quick strength workout. Don’t you just love it when hotels have nice gyms? I was super impressed with all the free weights and cardio equipment.
Thursday, September 27
Rest Day
My intention was to get in a quick workout in the morning, but unfortunately I woke up with a sinus headache. Instead I stayed in my room and did some extra prep for my presentation. I fly home in the afternoon.
Friday, September 28
PT exercises (30 minutes).
Woke up with another sinus headache π Thankfully it was my planned rest day so I just did my PT exercises.
Saturday, September 29
7 mile run.
Well I was able to run 2 more miles than last week, so that’s good. I have a half marathon in 3 weeks so this should have been an 11 mile run but I am just doing what I can at this point. The hip pain was not nearly as intense as last week, so I was thankful for that. I took walk breaks after every mile and that really seemed to help so I’ll continue that going forward.
After the run, I did a lot of stretching and foam rolling and topped that off with an epsom salt bath.
Sunday, September 30
Strength Training (45 mins) + Spinning (60 mins).
Got back to my double workout Sundays. Neither workout aggravated my hip so I was thrilled about that.
During spinning I kept thinking about a pumpkin spice latte. For some reason I was craving it so I picked up one after the class.
Total Weekly Mileage: 7 miles
Summary: 1 run, 2 spinning classes, 2 Strength Training workouts, 1 Walk
Grade This Week β B+
One thing that was lacking this week was yoga so I definitely need to make sure I fit that in next week somehow. I don’t know it I continue not running during the week. I’m not sure if that’s doing more harm than good? Maybe I can try to do some short runs during the week, I’ll see how that feels.
I’ve been off track when it comes to eating and my daily activities so I decided tomorrow is a great day to get back on track. It’s Monday and the start of a new month so I took that as a sign, lol. I’m still following the WW plan but I could be better about tracking my food, so I’ll make a point of that next week. I’m also going to meal prep some lunches for next week as well. I also joined a StepBet group this morning so that will help to keep my accountable with daily activities throughout the week.
That’s it for this week – thanks for reading!
How was your week? Did you have crazy Fall weather this week?
In Case You Missed It
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
The walk breaks have really been helping me as well. Glad you are feeling better. I have basically been go through that epsom salt as well. It’s so good! Have a great week
kookyrunner says
Yes, the walk breaks felt great because it felt like I was taking the pressure off my hip. I just have to remember to do the intervals from the very beginning. Sometimes I’ll ru like 2or 3 miles and start intervals and that’s dumb, lol.
I only use Dr. Teals epsom salt – I swear by it!
Kimberly Hatting says
Let’s just get this right out in the open, Kim…I want my summer back π I appreciate “cooler” temps, but this rainy/chilly business is no-can-do. I’m glad to hear your hip is feeling better; I hope that continues. I know a lot of people are not in favor of short 1-2 mile runs…but maybe sneaking a couple of those in during the week would help keep things loosened up?
kookyrunner says
LoL, well I think this is one thing we disagree on, haha. Bt like you, I am done with the rain. The rain can leave whenever it wants haha.
I think I’m going to try some 2 or 3 mile runs during the week to see how that feels.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Glad the hip is starting to improve! I love when hotel gyms are nice. Especially when they are big and not crowded!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Lisa! Totally agree with you on the hotel gyms – I love that they are making it easier to keep up with training while traveling.
Lesley says
Glad to hear the PT exercises are working. I do PT exercises each time I run to make sure I keep my IT band happy.
kookyrunner says
You’re so good to that! I’ll admit that I got lax on that and that’s part of the reason I am where I am now π Oh well, live and learn I guess!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Weather was very back & forth this week. And the rain!
I know for me consistency with running is really important. And something’s always better than nothing.
kookyrunner says
Yes, so much back and forth. And although this weekend was great, we’re back up to 80 degrees on Tuesday/Wednesday next week – ugh!!
Same for me. I thin I might add in some 2 or 3 miles runs during the week. Hoping those go well!
Wendy says
Glad to hear that your workouts didn’t aggravate the hip. I hope that it just calms the hell down.
I am so with you on the news. I was home on Thursday and for some reason, I couldn’t turn off the hearing. OMG. Thank goodness for Seth Meyers, Steven Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Samantha Bee, and SNL. I need to make light of all this.
kookyrunner says
Me too Wendy, me too! I’m just kind of over it. I just wanna run pain free – that’s not too much to ask, right?!
I just have no words for the circus that was last week. While I watch the news daily to be informed, I really think I need a media detox because it’s just not healthy for my sanity anymore.
Marcia says
I was just telling my husband I feel like the country is in such a bad place. The worst state I can remember. It’s important to focus on the positives and realize there are so many decent, kind people in this world. We’ve got that dreary all-day rain today. Blech.
kookyrunner says
Yeah it’s just really depressing, even though I try to stay positive. I kind of think I need a media detox – it’s just too much to see all the insanity day to day.
Coco says
I worked out at a Hyatt this week too. And I had a PSL yesterday. #twinsies
I really hope your hip is on the mend. I’m glad the walk breaks are helping.
kookyrunner says
I feel like the Hyatt hotels have really stepped up their game when it comes to their gyms.
Great minds think alike when it comes to PSL!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
I wish we had crazy fall weather! It’s still in the high 70s, low 80s at this point. I can’t wait until we get below 70 for the first time! It’s the little things, right?
Glad to hear the hip has been doing well! You’ve done several halfs so I think you will be just fine for this one π
kookyrunner says
Oh boy, I hope that you get some cooler weather soon!
Thanks for the words of encouragement π
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
I’m glad I’m not the only one who is excited that tomorrow is a Monday and the start of a new month! A great time to start something new or to reset.
kookyrunner says
Right?! It’s nice when the stars align like that!
Hannah says
That dog side-eye is the look my dog gives when she’s trying to catch someone’s eye to beg for belly rubs! As soon as you make eye contact she flops over on her back.
Sinus headaches are the worst. This fall seems to have been really bad for them.
kookyrunner says
LOL i love when dogs do that! My friends dog will actually stop barking once you stop rubbing his belly.
The Accidental Marathoner says
Thanks for the morning smiles! Glad your hip is behaving. You are definitely playing it smart.
The only English language TV show available everywhere we stayed in Europe was CNN so we were saturated with the circus show. I’m usually a news hound, but it was non-stop! I found myself screaming at the TV more than once.
kookyrunner says
LOL, I often find myself screaming at my computer on TV when the news comes on. I’m thinking I might need a media break to save my sanity!
Debbie says
I sometimes gasp at the budgets these people have for their homes! I’m in California, but in the desert the housing is much less expensive than, well, the rest of the country, I guess.
The news has been rough lately. Sadly, I think you’re right and it’s not going to get better for a while.
kookyrunner says
Me too! I’m like how is that even possible?! LoL. Guess I need to play the lottery π
The news is just hurting my spirit lately. I just don’t know when things are going to get better.
chaitali says
Glad to hear that your hip was feeling better this week! Last week was definitely tough with all the news but humor seems to help. I love the dog side eye meme π
kookyrunner says
Thanks Chaitali! I’m still hoping that my hip will progressively get better as the weeks go on.
Darlene says
Love that – Not about having time but making time.
That’s how I feel about running. I HAVE TO fit it in!
Glad that you are feeling less pain.
Walking fine. Just keep moving!
kookyrunner says
Yup – As long as I’m moving forward, I’m okay with walk breaks!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Love the memes, especially House Hunters. I get excited when they have a budget for a home that’s less than $500k!
Sorry that your hip is causing so much trouble. I hope all your focus on PT is helping. Even though I’m from Buffalo and Rochester is an hour away, I’ve never been there! Hope you enjoyed!
Sandra D Laflamme says
Those memes are great. We could all use some positivity these days! Everytime I see your peleton I wish I had one!!! Hope your hip does not continue to give you trouble.
Jenn says
No crazy fall weather here – unless you consider being still in the 90s crazy. Sigh. One day.
Great week for you! You are going to be so ready for your fall race schedule!
kookyrunner says
I just don’t understand how it can still be in the 90s in October – it just sounds like torture! Hopefully you’ll get some cooler weather this month – maybe at least down to the 60s?
HoHo Runs says
Love the House Hunters meme! As I read this, I couldn’t come up with one news story from last week — and felt like a huge dummy. I know I should stay informed, but I simply can’t tolerate the news. I hope your hip improves! My feels somewhat better without any PT exercises at all. I’m still trying to figure that one out and still testing that theory. Thanks for linking!
kookyrunner says
I can totally relate to what you said about the news. I’m just really over it at this point.
I’m glad that your hip is feeling better! Weird that it feels better without the PT exercises, but hey, whatever works!
Smitha says
I love house hunter memes!! Some really awesome ones out there too! I am hiding away from news too, it’s depressing and I feel powerless.
kookyrunner says
I just love all memes in general. I’m not sure how people come up with such fun stuff sometimes, lol.
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
So glad your hip is showing signs of improvement! Also, love that your strength and spinning workouts don’t aggravate it. It’s nice to be able to get in some good sweat sessions without also having to manage pain.
That dog’s side eye. LOL
kookyrunner says
The dog’s side eye kills me every time LOL!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
Keep nursing that hip and doing what you can. Hopefully youβll be more than prepared for your race in 3 weeks. Keep at those PT exercises and donβt worry as much about the miles.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Kathryn. I’m definitely focusing more on the exercises and not the miles at this point.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I appreciate the memes – the news has been so tough to take in, especially this past week.
Sounds like you’re making some progress with your hip – I hope it continues to improve!!
kookyrunner says
Yes, the memes are necessary for a good laugh, especially in these super depressing times π
Cari says
I have to look for that bench when I fly through ROC in a couple of weeks.
And yes, omg yes on househunters. And heaven forbid there isn’t a double vanity!
kookyrunner says
The bench is downstairs near baggage claim π
Cari says
Awesome, thanks. Will keep an eye out. I don’t think I’ve checked a bag recently
Shathiso says
I love that – “It’s not about having time, it’s about making time”. So many friends throw comments at me about wishing they had all the time I had to workout. I actually don’t have much time, but I find ways to make the time. Sorry, rant over! I’m so glad your hip is showing some improvement. Keep listening to it and doing what you can. Tracking food can get so tedious after a while, but keep at it!
kookyrunner says
Exactly! We’re all busy but I do feel like we can at least set aside a minimum of 15 minutes to get in activity. I think people feel like they need at least an hour to workout so that’s why they say they don’t have the time.
