Happy Sunday..we made it to the weekend! Talk about a long week. I felt like every day this week was like 30 hours long, lol. October is a crazy month for me so I guess I better get used to it!
The weather this week was again, absurd. It was hot and humid all week and then the temperatures dropped by 40 degrees on Friday. I don’t know when Fall will come and make a permanent appearance but I will welcome it with open arms when it does. It’s hard to go from summer to winter overnight – I need a happy medium!
Before I forget, congratulations to everyone that raced this weekend! It was definitely a big weekend for a lot of races.
Monday, October 8
4 mile run + PT exercises.
Wanted to start off the week strong. Mission accomplished!
Tuesday, October 9
Strength Training (60 mins) + PT exercises.
It was a LONG day and I almost skipped my workout but I’m glad that I didn’t!
Wednesday, October 10
Afternoon Walk (30 mins) + Spinning (60 mins).
Unfortunately this was the only day I was able to get in my 30 minute walk at work. I got in an awesome spinning class after work. It was intense but a lot of fun!
Thursday, October 11
3 mile run + PT exercises.
Another crazy day at work but I was able to squeeze in this run once I got home.
Friday, October 12
Yoga (30 mins).
Felt good to stretch it out after a long week!
I also saw Tracy Morgan live on Friday night. It was nice to do something different on a Friday night.
Saturday, October 13
Walk (15 mins) + PT exercises + Strength Training (60 minutes).
I woke up planning to do my long run for the week but the weather had other plans. It was cold and rainy – it just felt raw outside. I figured it was better to push my run off to Sunday since the weather looked much better for that day. Also I have a half marathon next weekend and the weekend after that so I’m trying to stay healthy. Running in the rain and wind unnecessarily would have been a bad choice!
Sunday, October 14
8 mile run + PT exercises.
So happy that I did my long run today! The weather was a little chilly but gorgeous and no rain! I had a little hip discomfort around mile 7 but it wasn’t anything major. I’m thankful for the progress I’ve seen in dealing with my hip these past few weeks. The PT exercises, while annoying and boring, are helping for sure.
Total Weekly Mileage: 15 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 1 spinning class, 2 Strength Training Classes, 1 Yoga class, 1 Walk
Grade This Week ā A
I did my PT exercises a lot this week and I am starting to feel a substantial difference. Maybe I’m turning a corner? I sure hope so! I have a half marathon on Saturday (10/20) and then another half marathon the following Saturday (10/27). I’m really hoping that my body holds up for both races. I’ll be running both at a “sexy pace” which basically means a comfortable pace, lol.
Maybe it’s because my Fall season is really starting this week, but I’ve been thinking about 2019 races recently. I saw this meme on Instagram and had to laugh because this is SO me!
In other news, one race I know I won’t be doing in 2019 is the London Marathon. I received my annual rejection notice earlier this week, but luckily my friend Marcia DID get in – I’M SO EXCITED FOR HER!
And although it’s not Thursday, I wanted to share a #TBT photo from the 2016 NYRR Staten Half Marathon. The race is today and this photo popped up on my Facebook memories feed this morning. This race falls in my top 3 of “Worse Races Ever”. It was cold, pouring rain and the route was horrible. We were leaping over puddles everywhere and at the end I couldn’t even get any post race food because the whole area was a flooded, muddy disaster area. I would never do this race again but this photo always makes me laugh because you can tell I was just completely over it.
Next week is going to be pretty busy because I’ll be in Toronto on Monday/Tuesday and then I have to go into our NYC office on Thursday to give a presentation. It’s going to be difficult trying to fit in all my workouts but I’ll do the best I can!
That’s it for this week – thanks for reading!
How was your week? Do you have any races coming up this month?

I also felt like this week was crazy long. But sounds like you had a fun was to close it out with Tracy Morgan! What did you think of his show? I also received my rejection email – I’m debating if I sign up with Marathon Tours, do charity, or just let it go for this year and hope for 2020.
kookyrunner says
I hate to say it but I actually didn’t like Tracy Morgan’s stand up routine. I really wanted to like it so I was kind of disappointed.
I say keep trying the lottery for London. You have to get in eventually right? I plan to keep entering the lottery until I get accepted lol.

That meme is totally me right now! But even though I didn’t share it on the blog, my 5 miler was a struggle this morning. Seriously, I have a half in 5 weeks…
I hope you find time to workout with all your travel!
kookyrunner says
Sorry that your five miler was tough today š At least you had some pretty views for that one though!
Coco says
I had a good week because I got to go to — and run in — Chicago. I have a feeling THIS week is going to be rough. I love your green Mizunos. I need a race on my calendar stat.
kookyrunner says
Running in Chicago is always so much fun! They have so many great areas to run – I’m jealous!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
I had a stressful and annoying week myself this week and I am also glad that it is over. Safe travels this week!
kookyrunner says
Sorry that you didn’t have a great week but I hope this upcoming week is better!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
This feels like such a busy time of year! Great job getting in your workouts. I’m so glad the PT is helping with your hip. The weather has just been crazy. I was also glad I moved my Saturday run to Sunday, although Sunday afternoon got rainy and gross here. Luckily I got out when there was still a hint of sun!
kookyrunner says
Saturday was so crazy because not only was it raining but we had such a crazy drop in temperature, lol. Fall has certainly been wacky this year.
Kimberly Hatting says
If there were any hidden photographers between miles 18-24 yesterday (then, again at mile 25.5) they not only would have seen a very similar expression on this Kim’s face, but heard some choice words as well. A big time”once and done” race for me as well…but it was another hard fought finish line, and I am grateful for the grit to not quit.
kookyrunner says
LOL I can totally relate to that hahaha. You inspire me to do another marathon. So proud of you #Kimtwin!
Laurie says
Sorry about London. I didn’t get in either! But you are running again. 8 miler – way to go! Hoping your injury is getting better.
kookyrunner says
Awwe sorry that you didn’t get in either. Hopefully one day we will both get in!
Cari says
Good luck with your presentation & safe travels
That meme is so damn true
Saturday’s weather was drunk.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Cari.
angela @ happy fit mama says
The weather has been bananas! It was 85 on Thursday and today it was 34…wtf?!?! I completely forgot how to dress for 34 degrees. I couldn’t give up my shorts just yet so I went with it. And was actually comfortable!
kookyrunner says
The weather really has been crazy! I saw that some parts of the country even got snow/sleet this weekend!!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
Sorry you didn’t get into London, but I really hope you are on the mend! Fingers crossed your PT is working and you are getting stronger and healthier!
We had hot humid weather all week and then it dropped to the 60s…I was really excited about it!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Montana! I am feeling better than I did 3 weeks ago so I’m taking that a good sign!
Lesley says
That meme is definitely me too. I signed up for the turkey trot before my 10k last weekend, and I’m already thinking of doing RnR Vegas next November, so that’s now two races on the calendar before Vegas.
kookyrunner says
LOL I’m just glad that I’m not the only one always looking ahead to sign up for races!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Wow! Back to back halfs! You go girl! I ran both days this weekend — we were surprised no one bailed on the race due to the weather but I’ve found for most weather, if you’re dressed right, it’s not that bad.
Except obviously your pouring rain half. That photo is priceless!
I always like to have the next race cued up before I actually run the actual next race, if that makes sense. It keeps me motivated. It’s kind of killing me that things are iffy for 2019, and some of the things my friends are doing I really want to do, too, but I just can’t sign up for them right now. š Damn FOMO.
I’m sure Tracy Morgan was a lot of fun!
kookyrunner says
Yeah I normally don’t do half marathons so close together but that’s just how the races fell this month lol. I’ve done it before but I was in much better shape then. Just keeping my fingers crossed to get through both in one piece haha.
I hope that you’ll be able to sign up for a few races in 2019 soon!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I hope that your halfs go smoothly!
I am actually signed up for one half in 2019, but it’s just a question mark on whether or not I’ll go at the moment. And then my friends are planning a fun race in NYC in April which I would LOVE to do, but again, it’s not something I can commit to right now. š
HoHo Runs says
I’m so sorry you didn’t get into London. Keep trying as it does work (as evidenced by Marcia’s acceptance). I’m glad you’ve turned a corner with your hip. Overall, my hip feels much better and I’ve done two things 1) stopped my PT exercises and 2) taken collagen. I’m going with that plan for a bit longer. I love your race photo. It reminds me of RnR Chicago for me. I was so over that rain! Thanks for linking.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Holly! Yup, I’m just gonna keep trying and eventually they have to let me in, right?!
I’m so glad to hear that your hip is feeling better too. I’ve also been taking collagen which I think is helping as well.
Hannah says
Glad your PT is working! Good luck with the upcoming races.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Hannah!
Jenny Albertson says
No races for me for a little while. I’ve really been craving some good runs, but now it’s getting cold and my knee is still not happy. Hopefully by spring I’ll be ready to get racing again.
kookyrunner says
Oh no š Sorry to hear about your knees but I hope they start to feel better soon.
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
Y’all are looking at 2019 races and I’m over here thinking, man, am I ever going to run again? LOL
I mean, I’ll run but I’m not eyeballing any races, that’s for sure. Maybe a CrossFit competition, though. š
Smart idea pushing Saturday’s run to Sunday. I’m glad the weather worked out for you! And I agree, when you have races coming up, it’s wise to play it safe.
kookyrunner says
LOL well I think that’s totally normal since you just ran a 50K!!
Michelle Rogers says
The weather has been crazy here in NC, too! We went from hot & humid, to a hurricane, to temps in the 40s…in the same week. I love fall, though š
kookyrunner says
Thats a lot of weather changes in one week!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
That meme on the races totally cracked me up! I’ve been all about 2019 races lately.
Glad your hip’s improving!
kookyrunner says
I feel like I’m going to add more 2019 races very soon. I just love planning out my race calendar for a new year!
Rach @ Girl On The Run says
Hahaha, yes I can totally relate to that meme, too! No London ballot for me either…at least there’s charity?
kookyrunner says
I wish but the fundraising requirements are so high! I doubt I could fundraise that much money.
Sandy says
You’re making me miss Stamford, CT! That meme cracked me up, it is TOTALLY me. I have a couple of 5Ks to conquer in the next couple of months but I have my mind on planning next year’s training & long distance races once this baby is born! HA! Sorry you didn’t get London this time around. Hopefully next year!
kookyrunner says
If you ever come back to visit Stamford, let me know!
I’m just going to keep entering the London lottery until I get in, LOL
Jessie says
Oh, Toronto? That will be a cool experience! I have never been.
That black/white sports bra is really cute from your spin picture. What brand it is? You have such awesome fitness apparel!
kookyrunner says
I wish I was here longer because I absolutely love it! It’s my first time visiting the city and I really hope that I can come back soon when I have a little more free time.
The sports bra is the Moving Comfort Juno bra. I actually found if on eBay (Brooks Running has a store on there).
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I’m glad your PT exercises are making a difference. The key is doing them outside of your PT appointments and continuing to do the ones your therapist prescribes once you finish up PT. I hope your week of work travel isn’t too stressful and that you’re able to get some solid workouts completed!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Debbie. This week has been crazy and it’s only Wednesday, lol. I’m counting down until Friday!
Farrah says
hahaha, that meme is so perfect for so many things!! Great job getting your workouts in, and safe travels!
kookyrunner says
Haha agreed. That meme is perfect!
