Happy Sunday! Man, this was one of the busiest weeks I’ve had in a while. It was a delicate balancing act between work, travel for work, presentations and workouts, but I did the best that I could under the circumstances. I had very little downtime this week so I’m happy that next week will be somewhat back to normal!
I have some exciting news to share – I’m co-hosting the Weekly Wrap this week. Don’t worry – Wendy will be back next week (she’s currently enjoying her best life in Nashville this weekend)! Thank you both for this opportunity. The Weekly Wrap is my favorite link-up of the week because I enjoy reading all the blogs and learning what races people are training for, etc. It’s a great opportunity to connect with bloggers and meet new bloggers as well!
Now onto my weekly recap!
Monday, October 15
3 mile run + PT exercises (30 mins).
I knew I would keep the workouts light this week since I had a half marathon on Saturday. Monday’s run felt good. My flight to Toronto was in the afternoon so I had to get in that workout early. It felt good to get it out of the way before traveling.
Tuesday, October 16
3 mile run + PT exercises (30 mins).
Another early morning workout, this time in the hotel gym. I really wanted to try to run the Lululemon Ghost Race in Toronto but it was a little too far from my hotel. Plus it was super early in the morning and it was still dark outside.
Wednesday, October 17
Y2K Spinning Class (45 minutes).
I SO enjoyed this class! It was so much fun and the playlist (some of the songs are below) took me back to the early 2000s. I was happy I was able to do this workout since I was running on fumes for the most part on Wednesday. My flight back home was delayed on Tuesday so I got back home pretty late.
Thursday, October 18
Rest Day.
Unplanned rest day but after having to work out of our NYC office and giving a presentation, I was pooped.
Friday, October 19
Yoga (30 minutes) + PT exercises (30 minutes).
Felt good to get a nice stretch before Saturday’s race.
I was also a nervous wreck Friday morning because I had to do a live video on Great Lakes Gelatin’s Facebook page. While I don’t mind public speaking, I hate recording videos. I always feel so awkward and I hate the sound of my voice, but I guess it’s good to do things that take you out of your comfort zone, right?
Saturday, October 20
SoNo Half Marathon – 13.2 miles.
Wowsa! If you follow me on Instagram, you know this was a HARD race for me. Stomach pains/issues completely derailed this race for me (I guess multiple porta potty stops will do that). I’ll have a complete race recap up this week.

All smiles before the race

…and the aftermath of the race, lol
Sunday, October 21
Spinning (60 minutes) + PT exercises (30 mins).
I usually do two workouts on Sundays but since I’m still not feeling 100%, I decided to just do the spinning class. It always feels good to flush the legs out after a long race.
Total Weekly Mileage: 19.2 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 2 spinning classes, 1 Yoga class, 1 Walk
Grade This Week ā B+
As I mentioned earlier this was a crazy, crazy week. I felt like I couldn’t catch my breath because it was just so busy. On Thursday I started having some stomach problems. It didn’t get any better on Friday so I was nervous about Saturday’s race. After the race I had, I guess I was right to worry, lol! That was honestly such a mentally and physically tough race for me but I’m glad that I got through it. I’ll explain more in a blog post laster on next week.
Other than the race, I enjoyed my time in Toronto even though it was a super short visit. I hope to go back again next year and spend a few more days there – it’s such a beautiful city!
How was your week? Are you enjoying Fall weather yet? Do you have any races coming up this month?
Iām linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap.

Sorry you had a tough race! Sounds like it was a super busy week for you. Great job getting in so many workouts. Hope you’re feeling better!
Thanks Lisa! Yes a very busy week and a crappy weekend race so I am hoping that next week has to be better lol.
I am so sorry that you had such a challenging race. You just can’t do anything when something like that happens. Hope you are feeling better. Thanks for hosting the WW this week have fun
Thanks Deborah. It was SO frustrating yesterday but like you said, I knew it was completely out of my control. i’m feeling better today thankfully!
Stomach issues during a race are the pits. š But you did finish, so way to tough it out!
Forget Fall, we seem to moved right into Winter. And the wind! We lost power all night one night due to it — we have a generator, which is great, but unfortunately it’s outside our window (although a floor below the bedroom) and it was a pretty sleepless night.
At least you have another one coming right up! Good luck with that! I have my last half next sat.
Thanks Judy! It was brutal and I was seriously considering a DNF.
I believe we have moved right into Winter as well. It’s so cold and windy today!
Sorry you had a bad time of the race! I have had stomach issues galore (I ran past the famous spot where I sat down and wept and WhatsApped people and scared them just today!) during training runs but not yet in a race, apart from the one where I felt ill beforehand, didn’t eat and fainted across the line! I hope you feel better soon and well done for completing anyway – hats off to you!
It’s autumn here in the British Midlands though lovely and sunny (and cool!) today. And I have no races until July although I think I need to book a marathon. As a training run (argh!!).
Well done for stepping up to Wrap Hosting duties and enjoy!
Thanks Liz! I’m honored to co-host the Weekly Wrap this week!
Oh my! I didn’t know that you had dealt with such crazy stomach issues too. They are really so horrible. I wanted to sit down and stop but I knew if I did that, I would never get back up.
First, thanks for co-hosting the Weekly Wrap! Second, ugh on the stomach issues. Those are no fun any time, but really bad on race weekend.
Fitting it “all” in with business trips is hard. I can’t believe you did spinning today!
Nope, no fun at all! It just felt like my stomach was super angry with me yesterday!
I always like to do spinning after a long run or race – for some reason it really helps with the soreness.
Thank you for filling in for me this week! I”m working on my vacation recap because there was NO running to speak of while in Nashville–just lots of walking, food, drink, and fun! Sorry to hear that your race was a struggle (seems to be a theme for a lot of us lately!) and I’m looking forward to your recap!
No problem Wendy – thanks for asking me to co-host this week!
So glad that you are enjoying Nashville an taking in all the sights and yummy food. I can’t wit to hear all about it.
Thanks for filling in this week, Kim! I’m exhausted thinking about you traveling to Toronto, being in NYC for work, getting in your workouts and classes and then BOOM running a half marathon. Amazing. Congrats on crossing that finish line. I hope you’ll take some rest days. You deserve them.
No problem! I am honored to co-host with you this week!
Yes, last week was exhausting! When I looked at my calendar at work on Monday I was like “oh crap” LOL
I like how you say you “just did the spin class.” Honey….there is no “just” when it comes to spinning LOL I hope your tummy is feeling better!
LOL you know you do have a point about that. I was dying by the end of class!
My stomach is feeling better today. Still not 100% but much better.
I did not know that LuLuLemon put on races. That would have been interesting to check out.
Sorry the SoNo half was a difficult one for you. Kudos for getting it done.
Yeah they put on these “ghost races” in select cities. It’s more of a virtual race but you have to run a specific route in each city to get credit for the race.
Do you think all of that travel caught up with you? I can have stomach issues when I travel, even though I’m trying to stay healthy and stick to my routine. Good job finishing, and I hope you feel better.
Although I tried to eat healthy, I do think that all the travel caught up with me last week. Luckily I’m feeling better now.
It’s tough to race after a busy week – ugh to adding stomach troubles on top of that! I hope you are feeling better.
Thanks so much Hannah! I’m feeling better now.
Busy girl! Wouldn’t you know the GLG Live thing was smack dab in the midst of a crazy week. Ha! You did great though. I ran my Ghost race virtually, which I know doesn’t count but it is what it is.
LoL of course the GLG video thing had to come at the end of such a crazy week! Thanks for tuning in for the video on Friday – I appreciate it!
That playlist sounds amazing! I’ve been really into reliving the 90s and 2000’s in music lately. So many memories! I’m sorry you had such a tough race. Hope you feel better!
The playlist was awesome! It’s nice when you can listen to old songs and they put a smile on your face. I love all 90s and 2000s music so those types of classes are perfect for me.
Good grief I’m tired just reading about your week! LOL! I’m so sorry you had a tough time during your race – stomach issues are truly the worst! Glad you’re starting to feel better – take care of yourself this week!
LOL right?! When I looked at my calendar that Monday I was like “crap!”. I knew it would be busy so I just tried to do the best that I could under the circumstances.
Sorry to hear you had issues during your race! I’ve been there too. It’s good to push through it but I know how much of a confidence killer it can be to have a bad race. I hope you have some good runs this upcoming week and get back to your normal routine!
Thanks Montana. It’s so tough when the issue is completely out of your control. Looking back on last week I know some things that may have contributed to the issue so at least it’s a learning experience.
Fall <3
Also traveling, and I got to see your bench š
Sorry your race was so rough – hope you're feeling better
Love that kitty fist bump
So happy that you got to see the bench in the Rochester airport! It’s so cute š
How fun you’re guest hosting! You’re a great link-up host, you are always posting thoughtful comments on everyone’s blogs, I am so impressed you fit it all in! Especially this week, sounds like you were crazy busy. And still worked out a lot AND ran a half! I wonder if it was all the stress of the work presentation etc, that added to your stomach problems at the half. Have you had that before during a race? No fun š hope the next race is much better.
Thanks so much for the kind words Jessie š I do think the stress of the week mixed in with abnormal eating habits contributed to the stomach issues. But at least it’s a lesson learned and I know what I can do better. I’ve had stomach issues in races before, but this was really intense!
Wow! You get a lot done in a week! Travel, training, AND running a half marathon! Congrats on the race. So sorry to hear about your issues (I get them too, sometimes). I will be looking forward to reading your recap.
Thanks so much Laurie – definitely a crazy week and I’m glad that it’s over!
Sorry to hear that you had a tough race. Stomach issues are my biggest fear.
It is cold here and I hate it.
I have a 5m on Sat and rain is predicted. Hate rain even more than cold. One more half this year in Nov.
Hope your next one is better for you. How can it not be?
I’ve had minor stomach issues during a race before but Saturday’s race was just horrible! I’m looking forward to a much better race this weekend.
It was 35 degrees on my drive to work this morning. We just skipped straight to winter lol
Sorry about the tough race! You definitely earned that medal though so congrats on finishing. Reading your music list brought back memories.
Thanks so much Sandy!
I hate that you had such a difficult time during Saturday’s half… I had a similar experience in Utah a couple of years ago. Sometimes I think that having an off week just totally throws everything off …including running! I am confident that the next half will be much better!
Thanks Teresa. I’m so sorry that you had a similar experience š It’s really not fun at all. Keeping my fingers crossed that my race this weekend goes a lot better.
Ugh, so sorry that you had such a hard race and felt sick for part of the week š Hope you’re back to normal now š
Thanks. It was really hard but I’m feeling so much better now!
Oh no, I hope you’re feeling better! I’m so sorry that your stomach bug hit just before your race.
Thanks for helping host the linkup!
Thanks Debbie. I’m feeling much better today! š
Sorry you got sick for the race, stomach issues are the worst š
And we’ve gone straight from blazes of high 90s to low 40s in a week!!
Thanks Smitha. It was rough but like everyone always says, you never know what you’ll get on race day!
I’m so sorry that was such a hard race for you š Stomach issues are the worst and can really throw everything.
I just signed up for a 10 miler on Sunday. It’s not my favorite race, but I need to get in the miles so I might as well get a medal for it.
Hope you are feeling better and were able to get some rest.
Thanks Jenn! Good for you for signing up for a race this weekend. I always say that you might as well get a medal and race photos for doing a long run!
Looks like a great week of training! Can’t wait to hear about how the race goes.
Gah! Crazy weeks always make fitting in those workouts a bit harder. I’m sorry you had a rough time at the race, too. I hope you are feeling better now and this week is less crazy for you.
Thanks so much Christine! Luckily I’m feeling much better now.
I’m sorry to hear you had stomach issues during the race – those are rough! Great job on finishing despite that!
Thanks so much Laura!
Nice job on getting through the half marathon even though it was tough! It has been a crazy week for me too, so way to keep up with everything!!
Thanks so much Angela!
