Hooray – we made it through another week. Also, Happy NYC Marathon Day! Congratulations to all of the runners that are making their way through all 5 boroughs today. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience and I still have fond memories from when I did it back in 2016.
Did you have a good week? I had a weird week with a few ups and downs but it ended on a high note.
Now onto my weekly recap!
Monday, October 29
Lunchtime Walk (30 mins) + Spinning (30 minutes).
I didn’t get home until pretty late (after work event), so I didn’t have time for a long workout. I still wanted to get in something so I opted for a 30 minute hip hop spinning class.
Tuesday, October 30
Tuesday was a really, really tough day. I was in an all day strategy meeting and then after work I attended a farewell dinner for a lot of employees that sat on my floor in my office. I’ve talked about it a little bit on the blog, but my job has gone through a major change this year which unfortunately have resulted in many layoffs. It’s always sad to see good people go but I have no doubt that they will all land great jobs.
Wednesday, October 31
1 mile run + Spinning (45 minutes).
Happy Halloween! I went the lazy route with my costume. I present to you my “lumberjack” costume.
I was happy to get in a workout before all the trick or treaters arrived! It was slow for a while but then we got a mad rush of kids between 7-7:30pm. Thankfully I was able to get rid of all of the candy!
Thursday, November 1
No “formal” workout, but I got in a lot of steps by volunteering at the New York City Marathon Expo! I was working one of the bib pick up tables and it was SO much fun! I got so much joy at seeing how excited the runners were to pick up their bibs and explore the Expo.
Also, one of the runners picking up their bibs was from Hawaii. She was such a sweet woman and bought candy for all of the volunteers. I enjoyed this yummy treat!
Friday, November 2/strong>
3 mile run + Spinning (45 minutes).
I was happy that this run went okay overall. All week I was having some issues with my right leg. It was kind of a dull ache in my upper quad. It was never a sharp pain but it was always “just there” (it’s hard to explain). It felt better after my appt with ART doctor on Thursday afternoon (he really worked on it!) and the short run went well.
Saturday, November 3
Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K
Another fun race! I’ve done this race numerous times and it’s always super crowded. You really have to master the art of weaving through tons of runners – many of which stop to take a lot of photos. I totally get it because you run down 6th avenue (pass Rockefeller Center, etc), but it can get rather annoying!
Sunday, November 4
No workout. Spent some time spectating the NYC Marathon!
Total Weekly Mileage: 7 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 3 spinning classes, 1 Walk
Grade This Week – C
Not my best workout week by a long shot but at least I did get in some activity. Technically I’m supposed to be training for RnR San Antonio so I’m going to need to increase my mileage as long as my leg continues to cooperate. I’ll also get back to strength training this week since my schedule should be back to normal.
This morning I was thinking about all of the logistics involved with the NYC Marathon. It really is such a well oiled machine. From the Expo to getting to Staten Island to the race course itself, New York Road Runners really does an exceptional job. It really is a huge production!
One new thing I’m doing this month is a gratitude challenge. My friend Michelle posted about it on Instagram and I’m excited to join her. I’m all about putting out extra positivity into the world!
How was your week? Did you watch any of the NYC Marathon coverage? Do you know any runners that ran the race today?
