Welcome to another installment of #FrugalFridays. Today we’re talking about Walmart.
Truth be told, if I have a choice between Walmart and Target, I’ll usually choose Target. Originally I was going to do this post about Target, but I feel that people already know about the awesome workout gear you can buy there, especially Chin Up Apparel tank and t-shirts. I thought I would shop on Walmart.com to see what they had to offer. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
Throughout the past few weeks I have been changing up my workout clothing. Some pieces have stretched out or faded over time to it was time to buy some replacements. I have a great mix of all different brands for my workout clothes – Under Armour, Old Navy, GAP, Adidas, etc. I’m all about using sales and coupons to get my workout clothes at affordable prices, but since Walmart’s tagline is “Save money. Live better” I figured I would see what they had to offer.
The Women’s Activewear section features tops and jackets, bottoms, sports bras and athletic shoes. Let’s break down each section.
- Athletic Shoes – I still have 2 pairs of brand new sneakers I purchased on sale from RunningWarehouse.com so I didn’t need to buy any more sneakers, but Walmart has tons of options. Some brands they sell include Asics, New Balance, Altra, Mizuno and Reebok.
- Bottoms – Lots of options here – shorts, capris, leggings and pants. Brands include Aviva, Danskin and Hanes.
- Sports Bras – I’ve found a really great bra from Under Armour that fits me perfectly so I bought about 10 of them. Walmart didn’t have this brand but the brands they do have include Avia, Danskin, Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, Playtex and Maidenform. They also have sports bras for low and high impact workouts.
- Tops and Jackets – I spent a lot of time looking through this section. I love workout shirts with funny or really cool sayings! Walmart had a lot of these types of graphic tanks but I only purchased one since they didn’t have the other ones in my size. Brands include Danskin, Avia, AND1 and Hanes.

Thanks for keeping it real and posting about Walmart. I've seen bloggers, and people in general, who are very picky and almost snotty about what they wear and if certain places are not good enough for them to shop there or wear.
I agree that it's good to have nice items that you're proud to wear when you're running, because if you look nice you run better, but some of my best workout clothes were… cheap. I buy all my sports bras from Walmart, no one really sees them but me and they have always worked, so why fix it if it's not broke? Looks like you got a cute haul too.

Thanks so much Amy!
It took me a long time to find a good sports bra and when I did I purchased a lot of them. Unfortunately for me it had to be from Under Armour so I end up paying $20-$30 for each bra but it has been worth it!
I just love getting cute workout clothes from anywhere. I have found some of the best items from Walmart, Target, Marshalls and Old Navy. I have friends that will "only wear" the more expensive brands. That's fine for them but I'd rather spend that money on a good pair of sneakers, or a vacation lol

Those Danskin tops are super cute! I have found a few tops in Walmart a couple of times but don't actively look there. I'll have to browse the next time I'm there!

Same here! Next time I'm in the store I'm definitely going to look for more shirts!
