Happy Monday! I cant believe that it’s already November! I’m already looking forward to the week of Thanksgiving because I love all of the quality family time, it’s the best!
Before I start talking about turkeys, let’s discuss the weekend. Since Saturday was Halloween, it was the perfect time to run the Gone For A Run Faster Than Boo 10K.
I originally wanted to run this race dressed up as an 80’s runner – complete with leg warmers and shorts, but it was 40 degrees when I woke up so I had to change plans. Instead I decided to rock the race shirt over my sweatshirt – I figured that was a good compromise 🙂 I even had orange Pro Compression socks to finish off the outfit.
This race worked perfectly in my running plans for the week. On Saturday mornings I meet up the Black Girl Run group for longer runs. Four of the members are doing the Trenton 10K and I am doing the Trenton Half Marathon on Saturday. We all ended up running 6.2 miles.
For BGR, we always take sneaker photos before the run |
I will say that although I was happy with the time for this run, I felt like the whole thing was a struggle from Mile 1. I went out to dinner with a friend on Friday night and drinks were involved so I’m pretty sure that didnt help my run performance, lol.
As you can see from my splits I was on the struggle bus at mile 1 but then it slowly got better. I hate that mile 3 messed up what could have been an awesome progression run. I think that these are the types of runs that make me feel stronger as a runner, if that makes sense. I felt like I was struggling, a lot, but my pace was pretty decent. This let’s me know that once I get 100% healthy and really start paying attention to my nutrition that my running will hopefully continue to get better.
After I got home, I put on my awesome medal. It’s Halloween themed and it glows in the dark (although hard to see in this photo)
This race also helped me log more miles toward my October monthly mileage goal which I was able to hit this month – 118 miles!
This was my 3rd virtual race from Gone For a Run and it’s been a blast. I’m not sure if I’ll fit anymore into my schedule this year, but if you’re interested they have two more available on their website – Eight Krazy Kilometers Virtual 8K and the Elf on the Run Virtual 5K.
On Sunday I volunteered at the TCS New York City Marathon. Of course it was amazing and I’ll post my recap about it tomorrow!
What did you do this weekend? Anything exciting? Tell me in the comments!

We won't talk about my weekend. You already know. I can't wait to hear about volunteering at the marathon! And November is totally my favorite of this batch of holidays. I'm all about the real family feeling, especially since we don't live anywhere near our families anymore. Solid run!
