Happy Monday!!
Today I’m providing my race recap for the Gone For A Run Sole Sister Virtual 7 Mile Run. This is the second Gone For A Run virtual race that I have participated in this year. I really love their virtual races because the themes are super fun and the swag is great!
So let’s talk about the race!
This virtual race could be completed anytime between August 28-30. I chose to to complete the run on Saturday, August 29 because I knew I could get it done early in the morning and I could run a few miles with my Black Girls Run Stamford ladies! I like the fact that I could run the race with my sole sisters and virtual sole sister – win win situation!
I left the house shortly after 7 am to start my run. The weather was pretty darm awesome! Mid 60’s with 80% humidity – I’ll take it! I ran the first 4 miles around downtown Stamford and a local park. I then met up with the BGR crew for the remaining 3 miles.
My awesome “race day outfit”, bib and medal and the BGR ladies! |
Although I enjoyed the theme of the run, this was a hard run for me. I felt like I was running slow, my legs felt heavy and my knee was still giving me some issues. My pace was 10:05 per mile and I’m still not even sure how that happened because I felt much slower. As usual the first half of my runner was faster than the second half (I’m convined that I will never master negative splits). This run did give me a little confidence boost as it was all done outside. I think I’ve become a little too dependent on the treadmill to “force” me into a pace. It’s good to know I was close to sub 10 minute pace on my own.
As I mentioned before, the best pasrt of this virtual run was seeing how many of my virtual sole sisters took part! Here are some of my fellow sole sisters that also took part in the virtual run – @tipsfromtina, @wendyistakingthelongwayhome, @runningwithsd, @dancingtorunning, @krissoups and @sas_rubel. Give them a follow on Instagram!
Gone For a Run has two more upcoming virtual runs – Run Now Beer Later Virtual 10K and Faster Than Boo Virtual 10K. Both are such fun themes! If you’re interested, don’t delay and sign up soon. These virtual races sell out fast! Not a runner? No problem – you can walk these races as well 🙂
Disclaimer: Gone For A Run provided me with a free bib and race entry, but all opinions are my own.

I really want to do the beer run but I am tinking of stenciling in a "gluten free" up on top of the Beer mug. Haha!

I already have 2 races that weekend but I love your idea of writing in "Gluten Free"!

Thanks for including me?and inspiring me. I got some run buds out there on our trail and although we run different paces it was great knowing your friends were running too. Appreciate you and what you're doing. @tipsfromtina

It was so fun "running with you"! I loved that we were all out there doing it. I felt like I really connected with a lot of runners through this!
