Last week I went to Atlantic City for a few days. I’m not much of a gambler, but I do enjoy the boardwalk and the outlet stores that they have nearby 🙂 Since I have a half-marathon in a week, I still wanted to stick to my training plan. I’m really hoping to PR at the NYCRUNS Queens Half-Marathon! (fingers crossed)
Before going on vacation, I was SO looking forward to running on
the boardwalk. I always like a new change of scenery when running because it seems to give me more motivation. Well of course nothing ever goes as planned and the “mild” weather we have had this summer disappeared…HELLO HUMIDITY!! Although I had the grand vision of running 5-6 miles everyday, I really only did 2 miles one day and 3 miles the next. Between the 100% humidity, hot sun (at 7am) and the lack of shade on the boardwalk, running a longer distance just wasn’t in the cards for me. Plus my seasonal allergies were going haywire and I really didn’t want to be the girl on the boardwalk that passed out and needed an ambulance. Overall I was happy that I still worked out while on vacation, even though the circumstances were not ideal. Oh, and on another positive note, I left Atlantic City $100 richer! 🙂
Do you work out while on vacation? How do you stay motivated?
In other news, I found out last week that I have been selected to be a Sweat Pink ambassador! I’m so excited about this opportunity and feel very lucky to be selected. I also think it’s awesome that the #sweatpink movement involves women AND men. I’m all about any chance to spread the word about fitness and health through social media. I recently ordered my pink shoelaces and I’m looking forward to using them in all my workout sneakers 🙂 The pink shoelaces are part the Sweat Pink movement, which is about inspiring people to feel strong, confident and tough. I’m also looking forward to making more social media friends. I’ve already “met” some really fantastic ambassadors through PRO Compression and hope I can meet them in real life at a race someday!
