Happy New Year! It’s officially the first day of the New Year and I am looking forward to 12 new months of adventures and possibilities. How will you kick off the first day of the year? I’m planning on getting in a quick run and spinning class to really start the year off with a bang!
December was another crazy busy month for me and while I didn’t hit all of my goals, I’m happy with what I was able to accomplish.
Do you set monthly goals? I love doing these posts every month because it helps to hold me accountable, especially with my yearly goals. Sometimes it’s easy to get a little lazy with all of the day-to-day responsibilities that we have, but I always try to make my health a top priority.
First, let’s take a look at my goals from December:
Hit the 50 ride milestone on my Peloton bike
Grade: C
I didn’t hit this goal, but I’m almost there. I discovered that I prefer to do a 45 or 60 minute class vs doing too 30 minute classes. Therefore it will take me a little longer to hit 50 rides, but I’m making it a goal for this month!
Complete my two StepBet games
Grade: A
I did it! I completed both games last month and even made a profit of $19.89 between both games!
Look into a side hustle job
Grade: A
While I did look into this, I just couldn’t find anything that could work with my current schedule. This year I’m not planning on doing too many races that require airline travel or extensive hotel stays so this won’t really be a huge deal.
Here are my goals for January!
Hit the 50 ride milestone on my Peloton bike
Since I didn’t accomplish this goal in December, I’m moving it to January. I’m also planning on doing a live ride on my bike for the 50th class so that should be super fun!
Finish one book
One of my 2019 goals is to educate myself more about running, and this will primarily be through books. What better way to get a head start on this goal than by finishing a book this month.
Get back on track with healthy eating
Yup, I really indulged all holiday season, and I have absolutely NO regrets! The holidays only come around once a year and I really wanted to enjoy all the parties and time with my family and friends. But this is the month I get back on track. I know exactly what I need to do so I will just need to buckle down and do it – no excuses!
If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for January?
I’m linking up with Annmarie from The Fit Foodie Mama and Nicole from FitFul Focus for Wild Workout Wednesday.
I’m also linking up with Lora from Crazy Running Girl, Marc from Train With Marc and Debbie from Coach Debbie Runs for Coaches’ Corner!
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
These are great goals for January! And, I’m with you on the reading. I’m excited to have time for pleasure reading but I also have other professional books I’m looking forward to digging into. It’s nice to know I no longer just have to focus on school. 🙂

I used to love reading as a kid so I’m excited to get back to that this year 🙂

I need to get back to doing StepBet games! They’re such a great way to keep me moving!
kookyrunner says
I agree! The Stepbet games keep me moving every day!

My goal for January is to resolve this hip issue, but I’m not doing so well at taking it easy — who can resist a warm Jan 1?
kookyrunner says
I hope that you’ll be able to resolve your hip issues this month!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
I was trying to figure out how long it would take me to get to the 50 rides! I have only done 6!! I will be right behind you 🙂 Happy New Year
kookyrunner says
I know a few people that are at 100, 150, 200 rides and I’m just in awe of that!
Debbie says
Those are great goals to start the new year! I love the idea of setting a goal to read a book. I tend to buy many educational books, generally about personal training, anatomy, stretching or running, but I never find time to actually read them!
kookyrunner says
Exactly! I have a bookshelf full of awesome books but never find time to read them. Even if I set aside 15 minutes every night to read, that’s better than what I’m doing now!
Chaitali says
Great job with your goals and with those step bets! I keep meaning to look into it and keep forgetting. Good luck with the January goals 🙂 I’m with you on trying to eat healthier now that the holidays are over.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! The StepBet is helping, well forcing me, to get stay active every day which is nice. I’m back to healthy eating today and it’s a little hard, lol.
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Great goals for January! I’m hoping to read 3 books this month….but now that work is back I really have to work to make enough time to do it!
I’m so glad the holidays are over! I didn’t indulge too much but the constant cookies was a little too much to bear lol!
kookyrunner says
I’m just hoping to maybe get through one book a month or every other month. I need to start off small, lol
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Sounds like 2019 is off to a good start!
kookyrunner says
So far so good!
Marc Pelerin says
No better time than right now to set goals! Good luck reaching for and achieving those goals!
kookyrunner says
I totally agree – thanks!

As you know, January is my main off-season month. I have a handful of daily exercises I’m planning to do, but the running will be scaled back (somewhat). I do plan on daily walks, a lot of those will be happening in the early mornings on the non-running days.
kookyrunner says
Sounds like you have a great gameplay for January!
The Accidental Marathoner says
My only goal for January is to get back on track…with everything! I have overindulged in absolutely everything EXCEPT my health so I am really planning to ramp things up in the new year. Here’s to a year of goals met for both of us!
kookyrunner says
Sound like January will be a nice re-start for both of us!
jenn says
I love setting goals! It sounds like you had a wonderful January and now you are back on track to get it done!
I want to do more reading, eat more variety and I need to drink more water. It’s a problem for me lol
kookyrunner says
I love your goals. Have you tried squeezing lemon or lime into plain water? That has really helped me to drink more water.
Karen says
My goal for January is to get serious about training for my next half marathon. The holidays always mess me up. You’ve created some great goals for January. I love the Reading Rainbow image. That really brought me back! Hah!
kookyrunner says
That’s a great goal! I hope that your half marathon training goes well.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Sounds like a good way to start 2019! I’m so with you on wanting to do more reading. I got Michelle Obama’s book for Christmas and need to make time to read it!
Darlene says
Great goals. They all seem accomplishable to me and you are off to a good start.
I need to read more but now I’ve started knitting. Can’t do it all.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Darlene!
I would like to eventually learn how to knit. It seems so relaxing.
Angela Cardamone @marathonsandmotivation.com says
I do not set monthly goals, but I really like the idea of doing this! December is such a busy month, I think you did great and I love your January goals!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Angela! It’s been nice to be not as busy this month – December was a whirlwind!
Farrah says
Ahh! I need to get on that StepBet thing!! Best of luck to you on your goals! I don’t set monthly goals but I like the idea of it! (Mine are just kinda ongoing throughout the year, hehe.)
kookyrunner says
I hope to sign up for a StepBet game soon. Let me know if you have any questions!
