Happy Friday! Did you have a good month? I’m actually very happy that January is coming to an end. This month has literally felt like it lasted for 5 months, lol.
As usual, since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions. Let’s get this party started!
I runfess that work is stressing me out
Way too much to get into on my blog, but work is really stressing me out. I just feel like I don’t have enough hours in the day to get stuff done, but I don’t want to fall behind on projects. I will probably need to log on this weekend to do some work. I know that things will eventually die down but it’s going to be busy first half of the year. Thank goodness for my workouts to keep me sane!
I runfess that I’m happy with my shorter distance runs…for now
My last half marathon was in November and my longest “long run” for the past few months has been 6 or 7 miles, and I’m totally okay with that. I am planning on running more half marathons this year but for right now I’m totally good with my shorter distances. The thought of doing a double digit run right now makes me cringe so that’s how I know I’m making the right decision to lay off the long runs and races for now.
I runfess that I’m finally back on track with my nutrition
It seems like I’m finally into a good groove when it comes to my eating. I officially re-started WW (formerly Weight Watchers) and I’m down about 9 lbs as of this week, so I’m halfway toward my goal. I have also increased my OTF workouts from 4x to 5x a week so that may be helping as well. Overall I just feel so much better especially since I’ve bene eating better (tons more veggies) and making sure that I drink enough water daily. Funny how little tweaks can make such a big difference.
I runfess that I’m so excited to watch a Patriots free Super Bowl
I honestly don’t even care who wins – I’m just glad the New England Patriots aren’t going to be playing in the Super Bowl. The game might actually be exciting this year! Oh, and the halftime show should be amazing too!
I runfess that I binge watched Cheer on Netflix and I have no regrets
I kept hearing about this show so I finally decided to watch it! The show follows the Navarro College cheerleading team as they prepare for the Nationals. The series details the lives of some of the team members and also shows all of the tough training that goes into preparing for Nationals. The star of the series is a cheerleader named Jerry. He’s had a hard life but you would never know it. He literally just radiates positivity and he’s a breath of fresh air.
That’s it for this month – thanks for reading my runfessions! I hope that you have a great weekend!
I’m also linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.
Do you have anything you want to runfess for January?
Catrina says
Great job on losing 9lbs! It’s amazing what little changes can do!
I’m sorry about the stress at work! I used to work for an accounting company, and the first few months of the year were always “busy season”. Working on the weekends was considered normal. It got to the point that people weren’t as productive anymore because they were so exhausted.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I’m hoping that things will be a little less hectic at the job by the end of March – keeping my fingers crossed!
Wendy says
Congrats on your weight loss progress! I’m telling you, we have to mix it up. Glad to see that OTF has been so good for you.
Believe it or not, I’m cheering for the 49ers because their QB is from my town. He played football in the same youth league as my son. Went to the local high school. It’s pretty exciting!
kookyrunner says
Yes – so true about having to mix things up! I no longer feel like I’m in a rut which is fantastic ๐
That’s so cool about your connection to the QB for the 49ers!!
Marcia says
Congrats on dropping 9! That is amazing! I have nothing against the Patriots but I runfess I’m right there with you on feeling so refreshed that they won’t be playing in the Superbowl this year. Thanks for linking!
kookyrunner says
Thanks – I’ve realized that for me portion control is a huge issue so I’ve been able to really work on that this month.
Katherine says
I ran my first (and only) half this last November and I totally feel ya on the short distances for now. Iโm sticking with 10ks, which were my favorite prior and reinforced that theyโre my favorite still. I did run a 15k last weekend and it was fine, but staying away from double digits any time soon.
Also- I am TOTALLY OBSESSED with Cheer. I loved it. There were some parts of the show that made me cringe because you know they (the producers) played it up for the documentary but behind the scenes itโs not quite that way. But oh well. I want Jerry to come mat talk me when I go through normal life activities.
kookyrunner says
I like 10ks and 15ks but there aren’t too many near where I live. I feel like the 15k us such a perfect distance – long, but manageable.
I would love to just hang out with Jerry for one day – that kid is amazing!
Chaitali says
I loved Cheer! I just turned it on randomly one day and I can’t believe how quickly I felt invested in those kids and their stories.
kookyrunner says
Same! I told myself that I would just watch one episode and then ended up watching all of the episodes in one day, lol.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job with your weight loss, especially during a busy time at work! January is always such a long month. At least the weather wasn’t that bad this year!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Lisa. I’m also happy that we’re having a somewhat mild Winter this year too!
Darlene says
Congrats on that weight loss. I donโt use a scale and Iโd be afraid to find out how much I weigh.
I have have half marathons every month through May. Itโs though to run with a dire foot but Iโm just doing what I can.
Looking to actually bring painfree and training for a race instead of just getting it over with.
kookyrunner says
I only check my weight once a week. I would go nuts if I tried to check it daily lol
Laurie says
Nice weight loss. You are starting off your year the right way! I am happy running shorted distances now too. I just said to Hubs today “No marathons in the near future!” I won’t say forever, but right now, I can’t imagine training for another one.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Laurie. January was a good month for me and I’m hoping to continue that this month,
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I was kind of hoping to sign up for a half end of April, but it looks like it won’t happen (might be my Dad’s burial). Sign.
On the bright side, I also have very little motivation to do double digit runs. 7 seems really loooooong right now.
I hope work lets up soon! It’s so hard when work stress bleeds into every day life.
kookyrunner says
Funny how 7 seems so long yet we’ve both done long race distances.
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I know! I think about that often. Winter is just a drag!
Dawn Robinson says
Oh wow! Great job on the weight loss! Congrats and spread some of that energy around my way ok?
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Dawn.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Ugh sorry about the work stress – I hope things settle down sooner rather than later for you.
Awesome job with your WW progress!
I’m right there with you on having no interest in double-digit runs – it’s nice to have a break for a bit.
And, you know I’m just going to ignore your Patriots comment LOL!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Michelle. It’s been rough this month but I’m hoping some relief will come soon.
I figured you would ignore the Patriots comment LMAO!
Jenn says
I’m so sorry you are having so much work stress. I hate that for you. But, congratulations on your weight loss! You have been so diligent and worked so hard.
I have heard great things about Cheer. I just finished watching all of The Handmaid’s Tale and now i am watching The Act. I might have to do Cheer when Mr PugRunner is at work.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Jenn! January has been hectic but I’m just gonna keep plugging away and hopefully things will die down sooner vs later.
I still have to watch The Handmaid’s Tale. I haven’t heard of The Act but I’ll look that up too.
Elaine says
Sorry to hear that work has been stressful and itโs good to be able to relieve it through your workouts! I just watched the first episode of Cheer and found it interesting so Iโll probably watch the entire show.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Elaine. I hope you continue to watch Cheer – it gets better!
Kimberly Hatting says
Sorry, just finally seeing your post. Nine pounds!!!! That’s an amazing accomplishment, Kim! Way to get it done (#fistbump). My job has been more stressful than usual in recent weeks, too. That’s why my over-nighter with Barb was crucial last weekend, even with a grad party happening the next night. It’s been so exciting seeing all your OTF gains…keep up the great work!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks #kimtwin! I’m hoping to hit my goal weight by March. We will have to keep finding ways to keep us sane despite bring more stressed than usual at work!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
So much good stuff going on! SERIOUS CONGRATS on the 9 pounds especially with your current workload.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much!
Denise @ runheartfit says
Great job on the weight loss. Don’t forget muscle weighs more than fat and I’m sure you’re building a lot of muscle with all the OTF.
I should be a Patriots fan since I’m from New England but I’m not a huge football fan to begin with and Brady just kind of bugs me. I do love Mahomes and Garoppolo is so cute so I don’t know who to cheer for. ๐
kookyrunner says
So true! Thankfully the scale I have at home and the scale in the studio looks at body fat loss and muscle gain. I love having access to those stats.
San says
Great job on the weight loss (that’s a great start to the new year!) and I do hope that work will slow down some. Sometimes it’s good to be busy but “too busy” is not sustainable ๐
kookyrunner says
Thanks San! Yes, I’m hoping that work slows down sooner vs later!
Coco says
Congrats on the weight loss – that takes discipline! Iโve gotten back into some bad snacking habits I need to nip in the bud. LOL on the Superbowl. My son is a Patriots fan, so … we will have the game on, but I probably will be working – or blogging – or both. ๐
kookyrunner says
I’ll most likely be doing some work during the Super Bowl as well – sigh ๐
Angela Campos says
I’m just waiting to see who wins the Puppy Bowl!! ๐ I agree…January is one long month, definitely happy to welcome February !!!
kookyrunner says
Agreed! I can’t wait until the Puppy Bowl!! ๐
Farrah says
hahaha, totally with you that January felt like it lasted 5 months. We finally made it to February though!! Congrats on getting back on track with nutrition! :]
I’ve heard a lot of great things about Cheer–I may have to watch it at some point! (I just finished binge-watching Spinning Out on Netflix–it’s about ice skating!)
kookyrunner says
I still need to watch Spinning Out – I heard that was good too!
Sandra Laflamme says
Awesome job on the 9 lbs down! That is so great! I am sorry work is so stressful. I hope it improves. I just started watching CHEER on the treadmill this weekend. I am obsessed now. LOL!
kookyrunner says
Isn’t Cheer amazing? I was surprised at how much I liked it!
