Happy Friday! Well it’s finally that time of the year again. The holidays are here and it’s going to be a whirlwind of activity from now until the end of the year.
As usual, since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions. Let’s get this party started!
I runfess that I always enjoy Black Friday from the comfort of my couch
Nothing against anyone that braves the crowds in the stores on Black Friday (I salute you!), but I just can’t do it. I don’t have the patience to deal with the crowded parking lots and stores. I can get most, if not all, of the same sales online so I have no problem shopping online on Black Friday morning with a cup of coffee and my credit card ๐
I runfess that I’m glad I upgraded my OTF membership
I went back and forth on this decision. Although I love the classes, the studio and the instructors, it is costly. But then I really put everything into perspective. For starters, I cancelled my gym membership so I am saving money there. In addition, I’m responsible with my money – I put money in my savings account every pay period, take advantage of my company 401K plan, bring my lunch to work, make my coffee/tea at home in the mornings, etc. If OTF is the one thing I want to splurge on because I love it, then I think that’s fine ๐

Yup!
I runfess that I love secret holiday gift exchanges
One of my favorite parts of the holidays is gift giving (this comes second to all the delicious food and drink)! So far I’ve joined 3 different secret holiday gift exchanges and I might join one more. I love to go through a person’s Instagram page to get a sense of their style, likes and dislikes and then pick a gift (or two) based on that.
I runfess that I’m looking forward to my time in Toronto next week
I’m flying to Toronto for work on Wednesday night and I’ll be there Thursday and Friday for work, but I’m extending my stay until Sunday. I’ve gone there twice and because of work, I never got a chance to explore the city. This time since I’ll be done with work on Friday, I decided to stay the weekend. If you have any recommendations for things to do there or places to eat, please let me know!
I runfess that I’m debating on doing a Winter or Spring half marathon
I am enjoying my lower mileage now but I know that eventually I am going to want to start training for a race (I thrive on routine). I’m not really sure which race I would like to do but I’ll probably start looking at races in a few weeks. I’d like the race to be in a state that I haven’t run in yet so that will take a bit of planning as well.
That’s it for this month – thanks for reading my runfessions! I hope that you have a great weekend!
I’m also linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.
Do you have anything you want to runfess for November?
Your feelings about upgrading your OTF membership is how I feel about going to CF twice weekly and doing a strength sesh with SJ. It’s really an investment in my health!
I’ve heard such good things about Toronto! Have a great time!
Thanks Wendy! I feel better knowing that I’m investing in my health – and I actually enjoy it so it’s a win-win!
I think you’re going to really enjoy unlimited OTF. I love Toronto but it’s been too long since I was last there to make any recommendations. On of my BRFs is try hard to get me to commit to the Philly Marathon or half next November. I runfess after DNSing that race twice already, I am hesitating big time, especially so far in advance. Thanks for linking up!
I’m looking forward to exploring Toronto next weekend – it should be fun!
I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Philly Marathon and half, but can understand your hesitation!
Iโm with you on Black Friday. Not for me.
Iโve heard great things about OTF. Wish I tune the time and $$.
Enjoy Toronto. Never been. Iโm off to NYC again next week.
Iโm committed to 5 halfs and of course now my foot hurts. Ugh!!!
Yeah the Black Friday crowds are just insane and I have no patience to deal with them, lol.
Investing in yourself is a great way to spend money. And OTF is a blast. Youโre definitely getting your moneyโs worth! Have fun in Toronto. Let me see if my post from a few years ago has the breakfast place we loved.
My thoughts exactly – the classes kill me but they are oddly fun if that makes any sense! ๐
Unfortunately the only time I visited Toronto I was still in college, so no recommendations other than to enjoy!
No live Black Shopping here. Seriously, why is that even still a thing?
Any desire to go to OR? The half I’m considering (summer, though) is in OR. It’s the same one that Laurie @ Meditationsinmotion is already signed up for. Just sayin’.
I really have no clue why Black Friday shopping is still a thing because it seems like the stores have very similar sales all throughout the month.
OR wasn’t on my list, but can be added!
I am in 3 gift exchanges as well they are fun! I bet we are in the same 3 :). I prefer to shop from home as well I think you get better deals that way too. I was in Toronto for 2 days for Ragnar it is a really fun city. Maybe they have a city running tour there?
LOL, I bet we are in the same 3 exchanges too ๐
I will check into the city running tour for Toronto – such a great idea. Thanks!
I runfess I too want to do a bigger race next year ( since my racing was minimal this year), but I’m about to have some change in my routine again so i don’t know how that will effect my training ( or lack there of)
Sorry about getting the Friday link up up late today. -M
I hope that your new routine will still allow you to get training in for your races next year.
I runfess that I’ve picked out my first half marathon for 2020 and that I’ll start training in January, but until then I am absolutely loving running less miles. I also runfess that because I’ve run more races this year that I’m sure I’ve spent $$$ on running and every penny was worth it, which is to say that you have more than earned your unlimited OTF.
That’s so cool that you’ve already picked out your first half for 2020!
Nothing selfish (or “splurging”) on doing things for yourself. You are totally rocking all the OTF classes, and it’s a huge investment in your well being ๐ Ahem…I know a couple half marathons in Iowa in the spring/early summer…just saying. Hit me up!
Yes, Iowa is on my “have to do a race” list! ๐
I like how you are responsible with money. Bringing lunch from home is such money saver and healthier too!
And yes, you have every right to splurge on the OTF. You are making good use of it and you have cancelled the LA Fitness thing.
Have you ever been disappointed by a gift exchange? Or does it always work out nicely?
Yes, so much healthier! Meal planning saves me so much money.
I’ve never been disappointed by a gift exchange! I find that the women in these gift exchanges really take to heart your likes/dislikes. I always get an amazing gift!
No Black Friday shopping for me, I’m at work all day…but honestly, I used to love it! Now, it gives me anxiety thinking of the stores and the chaos. Online shopping for the win.
I went to the stores on Black Friday years ago and it really wasn’t that great. Like you, if I tried to go again now I would have so much anxiety.
I’m with you on the Black Friday on the couch thing. There is no way I would even consider going shopping on Black Friday, I don’t care how good the sales are! Have fun in Toronto!!!
I really enjoying doing all the shopping from the comfort of my house, lol.
I would love to visit Toronto – I can’t wait to read all about it.
I will probably do some online shopping this afternoon. I wouldn’t go out on Black Friday regardless, but now it seems I won’t be able to go out at all this year so it’s the only way I’ll be able to shop.
What races are you looking at?
I looked at all the crowds in the stores when I was watching the news this morning – I just don’t understand the appeal!
Right now I’m for sure going to do the Detroit Half Marathon in mid-October. Other than that, I don’t have anything planned yet.
One of my friends is a big OTF fan and for her it’s worth the investment – sounds like it is for you as well! I’m trying to decide as well which races to run in 2020. Most likely a spring half for me. Have fun in Toronto!
I’m eyeing a Spring half marathon as well, just don’t know where yet!
I was talked into Black Friday shopping once and will never do it again. Especially when you can get everything you need online.
They just put in a new OTF near me , Iโm so tempted but itโs so expensive.
Canada is on my travel bucket list. Enjoy!
Yeah it’s a no for me on the Black Friday shopping, lol. I just can’t deal with all the craziness!
