Happy Friday! Also, Happy Fall! Anyone else excited about the official start of Fall this week? I say bring on the apple picking, pumpkin flavored everything, sweatshirts and cooler weather.
As usual, since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions. Let’s get this party started!
I runfess that I am looking forward to my Fall half marathon
Yes, I know I still have to run the Chicago Marathon, but I’m also looking forward to running the Charlotte Half Marathon in November. As a BibRave Pro I get the chance to test out products and run races, so when I was presented this opportunity last week, I was happy to accept! I’ve been looking for a Fall half marathon in a state I haven’t run in, so this race is perfect. Also, Charlotte seems like an awesome city. I haven’t been there before so I’m looking forward to visiting! Want to join me? Use Code “BIBRAVERELAY” for $25 off the relay and “BIBRAVE5K” for $5 off 5K!
I runfess that I’m looking forward to shorter long runs
I am really looking forward to shorter long runs on Saturdays, which means I’ll also get to sleep in a little bit as well. While I always love the challenge of training for a marathon, those long runs take up so much time and my legs will appreciate the shorter distances.
I runfess that I hope I get into the 2020 London Marathon
I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I get accepted into the 2020 London Marathon. I don’t have a desire to run all of the World Marathon Majors, but I would really love to run the London Marathon. I’ve only been to London once but I loved it and I would be ecstatic to go back there again for the marathon. I won’t find out until sometime in October if I’ve been selected but if you want to send some good vibes my way, I’ll take them!
I runfess that I’m looking forward to doing Fall activities
Fall and Winter and my two favorite seasons. I love a lot of the typical “fall” activities because they are so much fun. I don’t dress up for Halloween, but I love putting together candy bags for all of the trick or treaters. It’s always so cute to see all the kids dressed up in costumes, especially the little babies and toddlers! This year I also want to go apple picking. There’s a farm about 35 minutes away that offers apple picking so I’m going to try to get there next month. They also sell the best apple cider donuts! While pumpkin is not my favorite food, I do like a lot of the pumpkin flavored items so I love to enjoy those in moderation during this season.
I runfess that I’m looking forward to another staycation next month
I still have a good amount of vacation time that I need to use up before the end of the year so I decided to take off the week after the marathon. This way I will really have a recovery week! I’m looking forward to sleeping in daily and just taking it easy.
That’s it for this month – thanks for reading my runfessions! I hope that you have a great weekend!
I’m also linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.
Do you have anything you want to runfess for September?
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Oooh, a recovery week sounds like just the ticket! Nice! And good luck with the London lottery.
I’m kind of a scrooge. Never particularly enjoyed giving out Halloween candy. We stopped doing it in this house because it’s a raised ranch, so basically you have to camp out on the landing.
I’ll bet those shorter long runs will feel great!
kookyrunner says
The shorter runs have felt really good this week! It’s nice to have more time back in my day too.
Thanks for the good vibes for London! 🙂
Marcia says
A week off after the marathon sounds WONDERFUL! I’m kind of bummed we don’t get many trick or treaters anymore. I used to make special bags for all the neighborhood kids but now almost everyone is high school age or older and they don’t come around. Sigh
We had the best apple cider donuts in Delavan Wisconsin. OMG SO good!
Thanks for runfessing!
kookyrunner says
I’m already looking to that week off after Chicago, lol.
We don’t get as many tick or treaters as we used to, but I would say we probably get 30-45 kids. We used to get much more so that’s a little sad 🙁
Marcia says
Oh and I forgot to say I wish for you the same sparkly unicorn entry to the London Marathon that I had this year. Of all the majors, I have to say London was the most FUN of all!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Marcia! I’m hoping all the good vibes from everyone will pay off in 2 weeks when we hear back from the lottery!
Coco says
Oh, when I’ve heard such great things about London! When do you find out? I am hoping October is the calm-before-the-storm at work that will make November rough. I have a short business trip every week. I also am hopig October is the month I get my running legs back!
kookyrunner says
We find out about London on October 7th so in a little over a week!
I hope that October is a more quiet month for you at work since November will be hectic. For me last November-December is always insane so I too welcome the calm before the storm lol
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
A week off after the marathon sounds like a great plan! Sleeping in on Saturdays always sounds good to me enjoy your shorter runs the next few weeks. London always sounds like a fun place to do a race. I tried to get into a spring half there w no luck. Fingers crossed for you!
kookyrunner says
Thanks for the good luck vibes for London! I’ve heard its such a fun race so I’d love to experience it.
I’m really looking forward to an extra hour (or two) of sleep on Saturdays because these 5am wake ups have been rough!
Kimberly Hatting says
I will cross all my fingers and toes for you and London!!! I, too, an looking forward to my longer runs getting shorter LOL…but I still have a few weeks before that happens.
kookyrunner says
Thanks #kimtwin! Maybe I’ll get lucky this year and get in 🙂
Christine says
I runfess that there’s a part of me that wants to cancel our October camping trip, but the other part of me is hoping it will be warm enough to go stand up paddleboarding on the lake.
kookyrunner says
October weather is so crazy – you never know what you’re gonna get!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
I runfess that I’m getting excited to run Chicago in a few weeks. The energy is here! I hope to see you that weekend!
kookyrunner says
I imagine that there’s so much great energy in the city already! I can’t wait to be there in 2 weeks!
Farrah says
A week off definitely sounds nice! I hope you get into the 2020 London Marathon as well! :] I’m definitely looking forward to fall activities as well!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Farrah!
HoHo Runs says
I’ve never been apple picking! Sounds like fun. I don’t know if you have the store Kirklands where you live, but I keep going in there to buy fall stuff. I need an intervention.
kookyrunner says
Apple picking is a lot of fun, and a pretty good workout too. Hauling all those apples counts as strength training lol
Denise @runheartfit says
Sending you positive vibes for your London Marathon entry. 🤞🏻That would so cool!
I love Fall too and am hoping to do some “fall stuff” too, especially since I didn’t do a lot of summer stuff.
Enjoy your staycation.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Denise!
I usually don’t do too much in the summer since I hate the heat but the cooler weather in the Fall makes me want to get outside more.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
A week off after the marathon sounds ideal! And, I am so with you on looking forward to sleeping in on Saturdays.
We were just talking about when to go apple picking. We’ve been taking the kids every year since they were little. Honestly, I’d make the drive just to get the cider donuts 😉
Sending lots of good wishes for London!!
kookyrunner says
I took advantage of the “shorter” long tun today and woke up at 6am instead of 5am – it was glorious, lol.
Apple cider donuts sounds amazing right about now – I’m so hungry, lol
Thanks for all the good vibes for London!
The Accidental Marathoner says
Fall is my absolute favorite time of year! I’m so looking forward to everything the cooler weather brings! I wish I could do the Charlotte race with you. I also have yet to visit. My daughter-in-law’s parents liver there so one day we will make it out there. You’ve done such a great job with your training. You are going to rock Chicago! I never made it to the long runs, and we are already in taper time! I do have a half scheduled for tomorrow (although it’s pouring and thundering right now and we are expecting more of the same tomorrow, so we will see). See you in a couple of weeks!
kookyrunner says
I hope that your half marathon goes well today!
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
With traveling all the time for work, I love a food staycation! We need to meet up while in Chicago. I can’t believe it’s coming up so soon.
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
Good** that is:)
kookyrunner says
Yes, definitely! I’m making a list of all the runners that will be in Chicago and trying to plan out when I can meet up with everyone lol
Cari says
I would be all for apple cider or apple flavored everything. I even tried an apple cider donut and I am not a donut person at all. So good.
London is the only other marathon I’d like to fo — and I absolutely feel you on shorter long runs. 5:30 wakeups and run/stretch/shower/epsom soak taking until 2-3 is for the birds, Still so glad I chose the marathon for 40 though
Know you have a good, close aquarium in NOrwalk, but the Charlotte one is pretty fun too.
kookyrunner says
Same for me when it comes to donuts – I’m not a huge donut fan but apple cider donuts are SO delicious!
Yup, I’ve been to the Maritime Aquarium and few times and it’s pretty fun!
