Happy Friday! Since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions.
I’m also linking up for Friday Five 2.0 with Rachel from Running on Happy and Lacey and Meranda from Fairytales and Fitness.
How is November almost over? This entire year has gone by quickly for me, but this month really flew by. I’ve been enjoying not training for a race, but still getting in a few weekly runs and other workouts. November and December are the busiest months at my job so trying to fit everything in is definitely a balancing act.
Did everyone have a great Thanksgiving? I hope that you were able to spend some time with your loved ones and enjoy lots of delicious food š
Since it’s the end of the month, I have a few runfessions to share. Let’s get started!
I runfess that I absolutely LOVE the holiday season
Every year I look forward to the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I enjoy viewing all the decorations, listening to holiday music and eating delicious food and sweets. It’s also the one time of year where people are SO giving and want to volunteer their time to help others. Seeing so many people get into the holiday spirit always puts a huge smile on my face.
I runfess that I STILL have not selected my spring marathon
I know, I know..horrible! I REALLY need to make a decision soon since training would most likely start in January. There are just so many options and weighing the pros and cons is a little overwhelming. I’ll be going for a PR so I just hope I can make the right decision soon!
I runfess that I don’t do the whole “Black Friday” thing
I absolutely refuse to go out to store to fight with shoppers over a $10 toaster. Like really, what is the point?! Every year I see videos from Black Friday and it really makes me thing that people have lost their minds. I enjoy Black Friday from the comfort of my bed, on my laptop. I can get the same, or even better, deals online and never leave my house and deal with all the crazy crowds. I also hate the stores that open up on Thanksgiving evening. I just think it’s so disrespectful to the workers – just let them enjoy the holiday with their families!
I runfess that I enjoy a low-key Thanksgiving
My immediate family is small (my parents and my sister) and we always have Thanksgiving at my parents house. I love that I don’t have to travel to Thanksgiving dinner because let’s face it, that traffic is crazy. My family is also very casual and I enjoy not having to “dress up” or wear pants that restrict my eating habits (leggings are the way to go, LOL).
I runfess that I’m struggling to come up with new blog topics
I’ve been struggling the past few weeks to come up with interesting blog topics. I felt like I had more to talk about when I was training. Has anyone ever felt this way before? I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things soon!
That’s it for this month – thanks for reading my runfessions!
Do you have anything you want to runfess for November?
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I find it so much harder to think of blog topics when Im not running! I am not a fan of black Friday shopping either. I try to find some deals online but thats about it. And Thanksgiving weekend travel is the worst. When my parents lived in NY it was a nightmare getting there. Its nice that they are just 40 minutes away now!
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome that your family is so close to you now – the less time in traffic the better!
Marcia says
Hooray for a low-key turkey day. I had a large group here because I’m one of 6 kids but still, the elastic waist pants were ON! No spring marathon plan in place yet here either. Sigh. Thanks for linking!
kookyrunner says
Love that you also had on elastic waist pants – they are really the best!
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
Your Thanksgiving outfit is awesome. I too like to be comfy on Thanksgiving! I’m not a Black Friday shopper and really don’t like to go out at ALL shopping during the holiday season because it is just sooooo busy. I get parking lot rage! Good luck picking a spring marathon! There are so many good ones.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Megan! I totally get parking lot rage too! That’s when if I have to go to the stores for anything between now and Christmas, I either go super early in the morning or late at night!
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
Just when I was thinking of giving up the blog, I was diagnosed with RA. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving… ugh….
No Black Friday shopping for me, but I did splurge at Inknburn’s 30% off site wide sale!
kookyrunner says
That sounds like a great deal on Inkburn items – I know their stuff can be a little pricy!
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
Love the t-shirt. Leggings are always a good thing for Thanksgiving. I think we all wore them yesterday! I agree, I am not a big Black Friday shopping, especially like you said because we can get the same deals online sitting in our pjs.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much – I thought the shirt was fun too!
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
I definitely struggle with blog topics! I’m trying to remember to write down ideas when I get them so I actually remember them when I’m trying to come up with something to write about! lol Also, I’ve started using the “Keep” app in my phone (where you write notes) to start blog posts when an idea strikes and I’m away from the computer. I use the voice to text option and write my blog post out loud! That has been a HUGE help for me.
No Black Friday for me either. I can’t deal with crazy people.
kookyrunner says
Thanks for the good idea about the keep app! That’s such a convenient way for me keep track of ideas as they pop into my head!
I’ve already seen a fight video involving customers in a store for Black Friday – just too much craziness!
Deborah Brooks says
Loved your Turkey Trot outfit! We hosted last night so I am still cleaning up this morning. Then I will be doing some on line shopping
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much! I hope that you had an awesome Thanksgiving and enjoyed time with the family. I did some online shopping this morning and now I am taking a break to do some cleaning lol
Rachel says
Iām struggling with blogging as well. Something in the air?
Should we do Cleveland full together?
The Accidental Marathoner says
I also love the holiday season and especially love being with my immediate family. I don’t get crazy into the shopping and I’m with you on avoiding the Black Friday crowds. It’s just ridiculous. I sat home sipping hot coffee in my warm house today and probably got much better deals online.
kookyrunner says
Me too – Family is everything!!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I’ve been struggling with topics too, which has contributed to my lack of posting lately.
I’m so with you on the whole Black Friday thing – just a big no thanks to all that madness!
I love your dinner outfit! I hope you had a great day with your family!
kookyrunner says
Same here. While I would love to blog 3x a week, I don’t think it’s feasible for me right now with my lack of topics haha
I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving!
Kimberly Hatting says
My blogging mojo comes and goes. It is what it is. Sometimes there’s just nothing to write about, so I skip a post if that happens. I don’t want to put any of my followers through the pain of trying to weed through my random, thrown-together thoughts that don’t jive LOL Sometimes, it helps to look back of older posts for inspiration…or take an old post and tweak it to your current circumstance. Or do an ABC post on a running/fitness-related topic (listing things in alphabetical order that relate to the topic ). Blogging is a lot like running…it just doesn’t work well when it’s forced š
kookyrunner says
Yeah, that’s how it’s been for me lately. I usually post 3x a week and lately it’s just been once a week.
Thanks for the blog ideas!
Jenn says
I’m not down with Black Friday, either. Shopping just isn’t my thing.
We have a low key Thanksgiving but I do like when people get dressed up a little. There are just a few dinners where we can get fancy, and that makes it special to me. Of course, Mr PugRunner can’t bear to trade in his shorts for long pants, so I take what I can get when I can get it.
Enjoy the holidays!
kookyrunner says
I like shopping and finding good deals, but I can’t handle all the crowds!
Coco says
I LOVE that shirt! My TG was too low key this year – just me and my husb since my kids weren’t coming home and my mom was in the hospital (so I had to dis-invite the friends I had invited) I cooked a shorter menu and then we took some over to her. Next year will be more festive, but at least I got to cook in my new kitchen.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I hope that your mom is feeling better.
Angela @marathonsandmotivation.com says
I’m right there with you on Black Friday! I went for a long run and watched Holiday movies with my family instead š
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome! I had a very low-key Black Friday and shopped online haha.
Kerri Olkjer says
I just LOVE the holiday season too! And, yes, struggle periodically with blog block. I usually do a roundup post or something when that happens.
kookyrunner says
That’s a great idea Kerri – Thanks!
HoHo Runs says
I think all of us who’ve blogged a while struggle with new content. I feel if it’s not interesting to me, why would it be to anyone else and I end up posting less. Training and race recaps help me. Speaking of which…I haven’t selected my next marathon either!
kookyrunner says
That’s exactly how I feel and I hate to just throw a blog together for the sake of saying I posted something.
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Happy Thanksgiving! We had a low-key meal this year, it was actually pretty refreshing even though we didn’t have turkey on the menu!
I’m with you on the marathon indecision…I might be able to do the New Jersey Marathon with Bibrave (if I get picked) but I’m just not excited about it. I’d love a race that really takes you through a city. What’s on your shortlist?
And that shirt…love it! I also love that you dressed up as a turkey for your Turkey Trot!
kookyrunner says
Glad to hear that you had an awesome thanksgiving!
As far as Spring marathons, the Shamrock Marathon keeps coming up on my list. I’ll looked at a few others but either the dates don’t work or the airfare/hotels are too pricy!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I also struggle with blog topics so that is why I only keep it to one post a week. š I am so over the Black Friday Shopping. I mean, I do like it but refuse to go to the store. I prefer online shopping.
kookyrunner says
I might try to do 2 posts a week vs my normal 3 posts a week. It’s just hard for me to think of topics that would be interesting to others, lol.
I’m right there with you on online shopping – I love it!
