Happy Sunday! I hope that you had a fantastic week š This week went by so fast, primarily because I was back to work and it was just super hectic. I expected this so luckily I tried to prepare for it mentally.
How are we already halfway through December? And just a little over 1 week until Christmas? I think December might be the one month of the year that goes by the fastest.
Right now I’m not training for anything so I’m pretty much in maintenance mode. I’ll still continue to work out but I’m not following a set schedule or anything at this point. Read on to learn about my first week in “maintenance mode”.
Monday, December 10
Kickboxing (45 mins) / Walk (30 mins).
My legs were like “please help” by the end of the class. Originally I was going to do a spinning class but my sister wanted to go to kickboxing so I opted to do that instead.
Tuesday, December 11
4 mile run.
Decided to get in a run to celebrate getting into the 2019 Chicago Marathon! A few of my other friends got in as well and I’m very much looking forward to having virtual training buddies on this journey. I’m also looking for redemption from the 2017 race!
Wednesday, December 12
Spinning (60 mins).
Another great Peloton spinning class with Cody. The ride featured pop music and it was really fun.
Thursday, December 13
3 mile run.
Nothing like a run to get the day started! I also had my company holiday lunch in the afternoon and did some volunteering in the evening. It was a busy day so I knew I had to get my run done first thing in the morning.
Friday, December 14
Rest Day, but I did an IG takeover for Great Lakes Gelatin which was fun.
Saturday, December 15
4 mile run.
Luckily I finished this run right before the rain started. We also had a super cute furry visitor š
Sunday, December 16
Spinning (60 mins).
A great class to end the week! I was happy my workout was indoors because the weather this weekend was rainy, cold and crappy. It’s literally rained every weekend for the past few weeks. I’m so over it.
Total Weekly Mileage: 11 miles
Summary: 3 runs, 2 spinning classes, 1 walk, 1 kickboxing class.
Grade This Week ā A
I’m pretty happy with my workouts this week. I am trying to keep my runs on the shorter side to see if that will help with my ITB pain. I notice that the pain comes back slightly when I hit 4 miles so that may be my sweet spot right now. I’ve also had some pain in my left achilles tendon for the past few weeks. Nothing too horrible, but yesterday night it was really bothering me (probably from the morning run and being on my feet shopping most of the day). I’m hoping it doesn’t develop into anything too serious but I’ll keep my eye on it.
I finally finished all my Christmas shopping yesterday (including spending some time wrapping gifts)! I do a lot of my shopping online but there are still some things I need to go to the stores to purchase. I always have a hard time finding gifts for my dad. I think men in general are just hard to buy gifts for because they rarely give any ideas! Luckily the malls weren’t too crazy. I know that next weekend will be nuts so I wanted to avoid that at all costs!
On Saturday I’ll be running a holiday themed 5K race. It should be fun and I’m looking forward to it, and also grabbing breakfast with my run crew after the race.
How was your week? Are you all done with your holiday shopping?
Iām linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap.

5 Reasons to Run Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio
That’s a great fall shot! I feel like NYC missed fall
Congrats on Chicago – I think I saw that on Instagram, but can’t remember for sure
Thanks! It’s a free image on Canva – it’s so pretty!
I’m looking forward to Chicago, but not looking forward to training in the summer lol
Sounds like a good week!
I’m jealous you’re done with your Christmas shopping. I made a big dent this weekend, but figuring out what to get my husband is giving me fits!
That’s great that you were able to get most of the shopping done over the weekend! Ugh – buying gifts for men is so hard all the time!
I will be in maintenance mode in mid-January. One more half to go. My body is so ready! Sounds like yours is too.
Congrats on getting in Chicago! I would have loved to do it one more time, but if I ever needed a sign not to do it, the past couple of weeks have been it. i’ll be there to cheer you on, tho!
Yup, my body is like I’m good, thanks. LOL
I am so happy that I’ll get to see you in Chicago next year š
Sounds like a great week – well, minus the rain! I’m not quite done with Christmas gifts yet – I’m trying to make a couple things and it’s stressing me out because of course I waited til the last minute to start working on them.
Right?! i’ll admit that this year I finished later than I usually would primarily because I was traveling the first two weekends of December.
I am kind of in maintenance mode as well. I will start back up in January to train for Cherry Blossom. My Peloton is coming on Tuesday! Can’t wait to talk instructors with you
What?! Now I’ll have to come over and try it. š
We will have virtual Peloton parties, lol
Hooray for Peloton!! You’re gonna fall in love with it š
Very cool that you’ll be running Chicago again, exited to follow your training!
You are still so active, even in maintenance mode š Love all the variety! I love your Brooks Run Happy holiday shirt.
Thanks Jessie! I’m hoping for a better experience this time š
I’m going to try to stay somewhat active so that I don’t lose all of my fitness, lol
Congrats on getting in to Chicago! I hope you have a better race next year. I am done with shopping, and Friday was my last trip to UPS. It felt good too.
So great that you are done with shopping – it’s such a nice feeling, right?
Congrats on getting in to Chicago! Fun to workout with your sister too. I love your read holiday running shirt.
Thanks Coco!
Congrats on getting into Chicago! I just have one my holiday gift to get. Christmas and then New Years will be here before we know it!
Thanks Becca! I’m hoping for a better experience next year š
My shopping is pretty much done, other than gift cards. I made a huge dent in my baking last week, too. Now…I just gotta get stuff wrapped, packaged, and in the mail. The Christmas cards may be “Happy New Year” cards this year….
You’re on a roll! I spent some time wrapping gifts on Saturday night. I didn’t finish until around 10:30pm!
A good week, well done. I need to get back into spinning somehow in the new year. I am going to have to downscale my work commitments, I fear!
And I’m all done for the holidays now. On Saturday I made cards and wrote them and wrapped presents. Yesterday I posted stuff and bought the last few things and wrapped them. I have my book group’s Christmas meal on Thursday, and most of my local friends I exchange gifts with are in that, so I have to have everything ready for then – usually I’m madly wrapping and writing out cards just before I go to get the bus but this year it’s all sitting ready on the dining table, to pick up and take!
We just need more hours in the day to get everything we want to do accomplished!
I love that you make cards. I’m considering doing that for next year because I was pretty underwhelmed with the Christmas card selections this year.
I don’t always make them but I got in a frenzy about the non-recyclableness of much wrapping paper and had loads of card blanks hanging around waiting to be decluttered by making them into actual cards!
Congrats on getting into the Chicago Marathon! I’m almost done with the holiday shopping. Hope that ITB pain clears up for you ASAP!
thanks so much Sandy!
Sometimes it is nice just to be in maintenance mode. Especially during the holiday bustle. Congrats on getting into Chicago!!
Your title picture is beautiful! It looks like Central Park. Congrats on your entry into the Chicago Marathon! Sometimes I think I’d like to redeem my fall there but then I think — no, that’s means I’d have to train for a marathon. š Isn’t it the best feeling to have the shopping finished and the gifts wrapped so you can enjoy the holidays? Thanks for linking!
Thanks! It’s actually a free image from Cnava. I thought it was beautiful too!
I totally know what you mean about going back for redemption vs training for another marathon. It took me a long time come to the decision.
Yay for getting a spot in the Chicago marathon! I have basically all of my shopping done. I have one more thing besides the stocking stuffers and I’ll be done this week!
So great that you have all your shopping done! I instantly felt more relaxed once I finished shopping on Saturday.
I hope all those aches & pains go away with a little “rest”.
How fun to be able to go to Chicago with buddies!
I may be in training, but I’m taking it somewhat easy this time around. The last 2 years have been a lot of hard training & I’m just ready to have some fun & explore a new place!
Thanks Judy! I’m taking the week off from running (with the exception of a 5K I have planned on Saturday).
Yes, Chicago should be great, especially since I know more people running it this time!
Good luck this weekend!
Thanks!
Congratulations on Chicago! THat’s so awesome and I’m so happy for you! I have to work up the nerve to enter a race lottery one of these days. Maybe NYC!
I hope that you decide to enter the lottery for a race. It’s such a great feeling when you get in!
Happy maintenance mode! Sometimes it is nice to not have to be training for anything specific!
So pumped you got into Chicago for 2019!
I got all my shopping finished up and waiting for a few boxes to arrive so I can finish up wrapping!
Last week was busy with my AFAA exam and Sprint training! I am ready for a little break also!
I agree – I’m so happy that I’m not training for anything at the moment. I need a break!
Awesome that you got all of your shopping done. It takes such a load off!
Congrats on getting into Chicago! I hope your IT-band pain goes away quickly.
Thanks so much Debbie. I’m excited for Chicago!
