Happy Friday! I’m linking up for Friday Five 2.0 with Rachel from Running on Happy and Lacey and Meranda from Fairytales and Fitness.
Today’s topic is ‘running moms’ since Mother’s Day is this weekend. What better time to list a few gifts that every mother runner would love!
A Day Off
This is probably an obvious gift idea, but moms would LOVE a day off! I’m not a mom so I don’t speak from experience, but I see how hard moms work, especially mother runners. Moms that run have to make time for their training runs, children, family and work – whether that be inside or outside of the home. I’m sure they would appreciate a day off to rest, watch movies, do some shopping, basically anything! A few free hours would mean the world to a mother runner.
Gift Basket
Flowers and candy are great, but mother runners would definitely appreciate a gift basket full of their favorite running fuel and other running items. You can pick up a basket from any arts and crafts store (Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, etc) and then fill it up with her favorite running products. For example, my basket would probably include Nuun, Honey Stinger chews and gels, Lock Laces, hair ties, Body Glide, deodorant, sunscreen, face wipes and a running book or cookbook. The possibilities are endless and it’s a unique gift!
Gift Cards/Certificates
You can’t go wrong with a gift card/certificate! Some people think that it’s an impersonal gift but I totally disagree! What’s wrong with giving someone a gift to buy exactly what they want? Do you need some store/website ideas? I’m happy to provide a few choices! –> RunningWarehouse.com, Fleet Feet Sports, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Brooks Running, Gone For a Run, Sarah Marie Design Studio, Garmin and Amazon. There are SO many other great places, but these are just a few of my favorites π
Massage
A massage is a great way to pamper the mother runner in your life. There are so many types of massages to choose from, but a sports massage would be a really great choice (especially if she is training for a race, or just completed a race)!
OR..
You can buy her a massaging product, like from Homedics. A mother runner would definitely appreciate a neck, back, foot or sports recovery massager.
Momentum Jewelry is a great brand that believes that everyone can benefit from a little extra spark in their lives. They sell motivate wraps, footnotes, necklaces, sparklets, keyrings and clothing. All of their items feature motivational sayings, such as “You can do it”, “Believe in yourself” and many more. You can also submit your own custom saying. I can tell you from personal experience that their motivate wraps are awesome – great quality and necessary when you need a little motivation to get through a run!
Do you have any Mother’s Day gift ideas? How are you celebrating Mother’s Day?

A few years ago I made my mom a gift basket with running stuff when she was getting ready to run a 5k. This year part of her gift was one of those towels that gets cold when you wet it (she wanted it for her gym class). Great list of ideas! I think any runner would love most of these items:)

Awwe you are such a great daughter! I have one of those towels and I know your mom will love it!

Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
great list! I had a hard time finding a gift for my mom (not a runner) so I went with the safe bet of pj’s and a robe. Hope you have a happy mother’s day and get some time off

PJ’s and a robe is always a great gift!

Love, love, love my Homedics foot spa & massage seat.
I think I may finally have gotten through to my husband on the whole massage gift certificate thing! That, or he realized I’m going to get them, so he might as well get them for me at a discount. π
kookyrunner says
I need to get a Homedics foot spa for myself!
I’m glad that your husband has been listening to all your hints about a massage gift certificate π
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
We are taking my mom to see a revival of Hair! She saw it back in the 1970s and I grew up listening to the soundtrack (on an LP, of course). We aren’t going until June but she’s really excited!
kookyrunner says
That’s so awesome!! I hope that you all have a great time and lots of fun!!

I want a day off and a massage. Is that too much to ask? π
Actually, I really want a full weekend alone with my husband. Sorry kids, I need some grownup conversation and beverages!
kookyrunner says
That is not too much too ask at all!
Elaine @myRUNexperiment says
Won’t be spending time with my mom since she lives on the other side of the coast but will be spending time with other moms for brunch at a friend’s house while the husbands cook! I actually got my mom a momentum wrap with one of the mantras I know is meaningful to her.

A day off sounds amazing! Although I would miss my little man dearly, I would love a day when I can just think about myself and not worry about other responsibilities.
