Disclaimer: I received this box from StrideBox for free in exchange for a review. As always, I keep it real, and all thoughts are my own.
StrideBox is “a monthly subscription service to fuel your running adventures”. Each box will contain 4-6 items from well established brands or brands new to the market. I especially like having the opportunity to try new brands because that’s the fastest way to discover a new “must-have” product.
I’ve tried a few other subscription services (not specific to running), and I’ve always been a little disappointed. This is actually the first time that I have used everything in a subscription box. Let’s check out what was inside the box!
I’m a HUGE snacker so I was excited when I saw this energy bar made with real ingredients. I always need a snack at work, usually between 2-3 p.m., and I thought this product would be perfect for that. Each bar is 200 calories, with 5 grams of protein and 13 grams of sugar. Honestly I wasn’t crazy about this flavor (too much chocolate), but it also comes in alter caramel flavor so I’m planning on trying that one soon.
I haven’t had a long run in weeks, but I was able to use these chews at the gym. I ate one before my spinning class and then two during my class when I need an extra pick me up! I liked this flavor and I also like that these chews are only 80 calories per serving (4 pieces is a serving size). I’m still not crazy about the ingredients, but the chews did the job and didn’t cause me any stomach issues.
OMG..this was SO good! When I first saw the flavor I thought it might be too sweet, but it wasn’t at all. It tasted more like apple with a hint of cinnamon. Also the gel only has 90 calories and 2 grams of sugar. I’m going to check my local running store to see if I can purchase a few more flavors 🙂
I’ve tried Run Gum in the past and I loved it! This was my first time trying the fruit flavor and I think might be my favorite. I tried the gum before two of my runs and they always give me a boost of energy.
I was a little nervous about the flavor for this one. I find that ginger flavored anything can be a hit or miss – either way too strong or just right. Luckily this was just right! You can easily throw the packet in your gym bag and add it to your water before you class. One thing to keep in mind – each packet is 200 calories. That’s a high calorie count when compared to Nuun.
Shoelaces (No Brand)
There’s no brand for these shoelaces, but I love the colors (orange and green). I’m going to add these shoelaces to my sneakers that I use for Boot Camp to give them a little extra pizazz!
There was also an awesome recipe for Gingerbread Protein Bites by Lauren from Breathe Deeply and Smile.
StrideBox is very affordable at $15 per month w/ free shipping. It’s a month-to-month subscription service so you can choose to cancel at any time. They currently ship anywhere in US and for a fee they offer shipping to Canada. Would I recommend StrideBox? Absolutely! I love that it’s tailored to runners. As I mentioned in a previous blog post, I’m all about trying new products this year, so this subscription service is perfect!
