Happy Sunday! Since this is my first time training for a marathon, I thought I would document my training process on the blog! I also think this will help to keep me accountable every week during the 16-week training process. If I know I have to write about it, then I’ll definitely do it!:)
I can’t believe it but week 1 of marathon training is officially over! I’m very pleased with this week overall.
Rest day as I was traveling back from Chicago.
My official first day of training! I received these awesome items from Runner’s World (I ordered them through this deal from Rodale).
I also completed a 4 mile easy run on the treadmill.
60 minute Boot Camp Class
5 mile easy run on the treadmill
8 mile long run, and boy, was this one hard! Hazy, hot and humid even though we started at 7:00 am. I participated in the first TCS NYC Marathon Long Training Run. Runners were doing anywhere from 6-15 miles and we had water, gatorade and snacks on the course. It was nice to run with others in the park but it was just so brutal. I HATE RUNNING IN THE SUMMER!
60 minute HIIT class
I also did some PT exercises a few days as well – trying my best to stay injury free! I feel ready to tackle week #2!
Total Weekly Miles – 17
Grade – A+ 🙂
If you have any training tips, please let me know in the comments – I welcome any advice!
