Less than a month until the NYC Marathon – yikes! The last 3 months of training has gone by so quickly. Luckily this was a cutback week – yay!
Rest Day (kind of..)
I didn’t really feel like doing much of anything after Sunday’s 20 miler. I knew I wasn’t going to run, but I had planned on getting in some type of workout. Instead I did about 15 minutes on the stationary bike before I called it a day.
6 mile run
This was a 5 am run which was painful, but it was the only time I could get the run done that day since I was volunteering in the afternoon/evening.
I volunteered to help with bib prep for the NYC Marathon. It was a great 5 hours filled with great conversation with the other volunteers, many of which have run the marathon before.
60 minute Boot Camp Class. Lots of circuits and free weights, just what I like!
8 mile run. I had a much better 8 mile run this week. I think the trick was taking a two minute break in the middle of the run.
6 mile tempo run. This run went way better this week as I was actually able to do the whole ‘tempo’ thing lol
REST DAY! I didn’t do any type of workout and appreciated the break!
13.2 miles (Staten Island Half Marathon). I was supposed to do 16 miles but the weather was REALLY bad. I didn’t want to risk slipping on the pavement and injuring myself just to get in another 3 miles. While I do feel guilty for not getting in all my miles, this is the first long run I haven’t completed in all 12 weeks of training so I’m not going to beat myself up about it.
I’m happy that last week was a cut back week because this week is going to be jam packed with tons of running, including a 20 miler on Saturday!
Total Miles – 33.2 miles
Training Cycle – 340.65 miles
Grade – B
I’m giving myself a B this week because I didn’t get in all of my miles. Looking back on yesterday I could have hit the treadmill for the additional 3 miles, but I was honestly so beat by the time I got home and finally got warm. I’m a big believer in sticking to a training schedule, even if you have to move some workouts to different days, but in the long run I know that 3 miles is not going to have a negative impact on my marathon experience.
If you have any training tips, please let me know in the comments – I welcome any advice!
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by my blog!
