Happy Sunday! This weak was my peak week and I’m happy to report that I survived! My body feels pretty worn down today but I know that’s because I asked A LOT of my body this week. I’m so happy that I was able to complete every run this week!
Monday
5 mile run. My legs appreciated these recover miles after the crazy half marathon from the day before. Also the weather was fantastic – a big contrast from the day before!
I also celebrated #MedalMonday with all my my Five Borough Series medals!
Tuesday
9 mile run. I was dreading this run but knew it had to be done. The run wasn’t that bad and after 4 miles I finally got into the zone.
Wednesday
60 minute body works class. This is a total body workout and I loved it!
Thursday
6 mile tempo run. This run actually felt pretty good and I felt strong
Friday
Rest days are the best days!
Saturday
20 mile run (my 2nd 20 mile run of this training cycle). I did 5 pre-race miles, then the SoNo Half Marathon (race recap coming on Wednesday), then 2 post race miles. My right quad was very cranky so I did the best I could to keep my long run pace with that issue, plus TONS of rolling hills. It was a tough run for me but I did it and that’s all that counts!
Sunday
60 minute spinning class. As much as I wanted to stay in bed, I’m so happy I went to the class. My legs felt horrible yesterday but they felt much better after spin class.
Total Miles – 40 miles (wow!)
Training Cycle – 380.65 miles
Grade – A
I think I earned an A this week! This was my highest mileage week, ever! I also completed all of my runs and got in two cross training workouts. I do wish I had added Yoga this week, but I’ll probably do it next week for sure. The 20 miler this week felt harder than my 20 miler from a few weeks ago, but that’s okay. Even though I was tired, I still felt like I could have kept running (slowly) so this gives me more confidence for the marathon.
If you have any training tips, please let me know in the comments – I welcome any advice!
I’m linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap.
I’m also Linking Up with the Jess’s (Jess Runs Atlanta and Jess @ The Right Fits) for their new link up for training recaps!
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by my blog!

What an awesome week! You are so ready. I still want those Borough medals!

Thanks Wendy! I can’t believe that the race is almost here – just a few more weeks!

I like the 5 borough series medals. Congratulations on your highest mileage week! I’m in awe that you can add on miles before and after a half marathon. Very impressive. Since you’ve run your 2nd 20 mile run, does that mean it’s taper time? Thanks for linking, Kim!
kookyrunner says
I’m a big fan of those medals as well! I feel so much better getting through that 20 miler and you’re right, now it’s taper time!! 🙂
Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says
I agree you earn an A± for this week! Kudos to you for getting in two 20 milers so far!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Meranda! I feel much better now that I have done two twenty mile runs.

Wow that’s a lot of miles! But I bet you’re glad that peak week is over! When I was looking at my training schedule for Gasparilla I about choked when I saw my peak week! I guess we aren’t supposed to do that right? Look at my mileage ahead of time?
kookyrunner says
LoL you made the same mistake that I made! When I got my training plan I look at the entire thing. I vividly remember that I looked at my peak week and I thought there was no way I could do that. But that was 13 weeks ago and I did it! I know you will be able to do it too! 🙂

I also had a 40-mile week, also my highest weekly mileage ever (and I’m feeling it now LOL). I also had a half marathon today, and ran it similar to what you did (I did 2 warm-up miles, the race, then 3 miles afterwards…18 total miles). Isn’t it amazing what we can make our bodies do? 😉
Teresa says
I love the 5 boroughs series…what an amazing accomplishment! Good luck with NYC…sounds like you are more than ready!
kookyrunner says
Thank you Teresa! Overall I feel ready but still a little nervous!
Karen @ Fit in France says
Great job !
I had my last long run for NY too on Saturday. Can’t believe it is less than 3 weeks away !
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Karen! I can’t believe that it will be in less than a month!
Sonia says
Really cool medals! And a nice way to celebrate the long, hard training you’ve done. Great job on your 20-miler! You’re going to be great!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Sonia. I’m starting to get excited/anxious for the race!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Congrats!! You had lots of mileage on tap and you nailed it! I’m sure your legs are tired from so much work but I think it’ll definitely pay off for race day. Can’t wait for the race recap either! 🙂
kookyrunner says
Thanks Janelle! I have to admit my legs are feeling it today after taking a spinning class the day after my long run but that just means I need to do more foam rolling!
Jessie Benson says
Really strong week, way to go girl! You are going to ROCK NYC! 🙂
Love those tights too, where are they from?
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jessie! The tights are from Old Navy. I purchased them earlier this year so they don’t have them anymore, but they do have some awesome new tights with cool patterns in the stores now!
Sharon says
Wow! You’ve collected some great bling! Love those borough medals! Great job on your 2nd 20 miler!! You are ready! Enjoy the taper!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Sharon!
Tricia Vaughn says
My friend you are SO ready!!! Great job on incorporating a half with your 20 mile training run! I did this twice last year and enjoyed both of them. I mean if you going to be out there anyway might as well get a medal right!
Thanks Kim for linking!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Tricia! I am feeling anxious and excited but I know I put in the work so I am happy about that!
Abby @BackatSquareZero says
Remember you were tired at the end of this 20 miler after a tough week of training, you go into the marathon with fresh legs.
kookyrunner says
I’ll definitely try to keep that in mind going into marathon day!
