Happy Wednesday!
Earlier this month I entered a giveaway from Fitfluential, and I WON! See, it pays to enter giveaways! I won a copy of The Perfect Portion Cookbook by Anson Williams, Bob Warden and Mona Dolgov. This book was just released in February so it’s hot off the presses!
Truth be told, I didn’t make smart food choices over the winter. That mixed in with a lack of motivation to run lead to some weight gain. I don’t really weigh myself that often, but my clothes fit differently so it’s time to get back on track! This book definitely came at a perfect time.
The main theme of this cookbook is portion control. From the book:
“The Perfect Portion cookbook is filled with 150 delicious comfort food recipes, all crafted with the right ingredients, so you don’t have to give up the foods you love! Everything from French Toast to Lasagna and Apple Turnovers, all with easy, perfect portion control, using our SIMPLE, revolutionary 100 Calorie Counting System. Now, without worry or guilt, we can all eat perfect portions of the foods we love.”
Portion control is something that I struggle with because let’s face it – how often do we eat one serving size? Furthermore, how often do we KNOW what a serving size should look like? For example, I love pizza. Technically one slice is a serving, but depending on the restaurant, the size of that slice can vary, a lot! With this cookbook, it eliminates the guessing game, which is nice!
Here are some of my favorite recipes from the cookbook:
Supreme Flatbread Pizza
Steel Cut Oatmeal
Spinach & Pear Salad
Lasagna
Oven Fried Chicken
I’ve only had the cookbook for a week so far and I am really liking it! I know that I’ll be using it a lot in the future as I attempt to get my daily nutrition back on track.
How do you keep your portions under control?
I know it pays off to enter giveaways since i’ve won a few of yours!
I think a cookbook like this is a great idea for people who have issues with portion control. I’m pretty good about eating until I”m full. We need to move away from the “clean plate club” that permeates our society!
I couldn’t agree more – overall this country has a huge problem with portion control. Sometimes I’m amazed at the amount of food that you get at restaurants, it’s crazy!
