Happy Sunday! How was your weekend? Here in the Northeast we’ve been enjoying a small break in the humidity which has been nice! Starting tomorrow we’re back up to high temperatures and humidity again, so I tried to enjoy the great weather this weekend. This is really an awesome Sunday for me since I’m off from work next week! This was me at approximately 4:00pm on Friday LOL.
As far as training, this was a hard week for me. It was peak week, so I guess that was to be expected, but I just felt really tired. Thankfully I didn’t have to skip any runs, but it was a bit of a struggle this week. Nevertheless, another week of training complete!
Monday, August 20
5 mile run + Spinning class (30 minutes).
Rocked the pineapple hairstyle to kick off peak week! My legs were toast after this workout!
Tuesday, August 21
4 mile run + Arms/Abs workout (15 minutes).
Another double workout day. The run went well but the arms and abs workout was pretty intense!
Wednesday, August 22
Rest Day.
This was an unexpected rest day. I got home from work and I was just so tired. I spent about two hours trying to get the motivation to workout but I just couldn’t do it. I went to bed pretty early that night. I think my body was telling me it needed a break after a long run on Saturday and then 3 days in a row of double workouts.
Thursday, August 23
5 mile run.
I was SO pumped about this run because the weather was gorgeous! It made me excited for Fall weather š
Friday, August 24
Yoga DVD (30 minutes).
I’ve been REALLY slacking on Yoga…like I haven’t done it in a few months. Whoops! Time to get back at it.
Saturday, August 25
11 mile run.
I don’t want to say this was a crappy run, but it was a challenging run. The first half of the run went pretty well but the second half of the run was really hard. My hips felt SO tight which made running painful. I had to stop three times to stretch just so that I could get through the run. I’m going to be doing daily yoga and stretching to see if that will help.
Sunday, August 26
Strength Training (45 minutes) + Spinning (50 minutes).
I <3 double workout Sundays! I really tried to push myself hard in both classes since I skipped my bootcamp class on Wednesday.
Total Weekly Mileage: 25 miles
Weekly Weight Loss: -1.5
Summary: 4 runs, 2 spinning class, 2 Strength Training classes and 1 yoga class (DVD)
Grade This Week ā A
I survived peak week and I couldn’t be happier about that! Besides the issues with my hips, my legs felt tired this week but I’m not surprised by that. I’m going to dedicate at least 15 minutes every day to stretching and doing some yoga exercises. When your body speaks, you have to listen, and I’m definitely listening right now.
I’m looking forward to being off from work next week. I really need a break and it’s coming at the perfect time. I’m going to get in my workouts, run some errands, try a few new restaurants, get in some reading, etc. It’s going to be an awesome š
That’s it for this week – thanks for reading!
How was your week? How are you dealing with the humidity during your runs?
In Case You Missed It
Wendy says
It’s been so humid the last couple of days. Today was the worst! I just go slower. And drink a lot of water. I pray that it isn’t like this for Zooma in 3 weeks!
Enjoy your week off!!! Thanks for linking.
kookyrunner says
I’ve heard about the crazy humidity in Chicago this week. I really hope it breaks for you soon!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Hope you have a great staycation! My midweek runs went great due to the lower humidity, but I was feeling very run down right before we left . . . luckily it was temporary!
There are just always so many fitness balls to keep in the air, aren’t there?
kookyrunner says
Totally! I always feel like I’m dropping the ball on something when it comes to fitness. I want variety but I also don’t want to overdo it.
Lesley says
I came back to lovely fall temps, and now we’re back to normal. Not much humidity, and plenty of warmth. I hope those fall temps come back because running in cooler weather in Alaska felt awesome!
kookyrunner says
Yup – back to normal here next week too unfortunately š
Cari says
Enjoy your week off. Love the meme!
kookyrunner says
hanks so much Cari!
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
Having a few cooler days this week made running so much better for me too. I am dreaming of fall running. Have a great week
kookyrunner says
It really did! It made me so excited for Fall and the cooler temps š
Kimberly Hatting says
It was a humid swamp early int he week, then it got cool (like, in the mid-50’s #YIKES), but by Friday, the humidity was back in action. Yesterday’s run was such a sweat-filled mes LOL Everything was dripping off of me…
kookyrunner says
It was less humid from Thursday-today, but next week it’s back to the swamp like weather – ugh! I’m just so ready for Fall and the cooler temps. I hope we have good temps for our race weekend in Philly!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job making it through your peak week! I hope the stretching helps with your tight hips. Enjoy your week off from work!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Lisa. I’m really hoping that doing some intense stretching will help!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Nice job with those double workouts! Hope your hip issues are just a passing thing. Enjoy your staycation š
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Michelle!
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
You had a solid week of double workouts! Great peak week! Enjoy your time off this coming week š
kookyrunner says
Thanks Becca! So far my staycation is going well š
Jessie says
Enjoy your staycation! Sounds so fun.
Very strong work- you continue to amaze me with your well-balanced variety. You do it all!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Jessie!
HoHo Runs says
Your double up days are very impressive, my friend! I can certainly sympathize with the hip crankiness. I’ve been plagued with that off and on this year. Congrats on making it through peak week training. Now, enjoy your vacation time! Thanks for linking.
kookyrunner says
The hip crankiness is definitely not fun at all š I’m hoping that by doing some more pre-hab that it will help with the pain. Fingers crossed!
Cooc says
Yay for making it through peak week! Double workouts are tough! Enjoy your staycation -sounds like you have great plans and great non-plans. š
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Coco! The staycation is going well so far š I’m enjoying all the free time!
Darlene says
Yay. You survived your peak week.
I need a staycation. I’m always on the go.
I had a really crappy run. I was tired and had no one to run with. Hopefully my half goes better. It’s Sept 23.
kookyrunner says
Today was day 1 of my staycation and I already feel like I’ve gotten SO much accomplished!
Chaitali says
We had lower humidity last week too and it was really nice. Great timing that the lower humidity coincided with your peak week š
kookyrunner says
Yes I was very happy for that lol
Jenny Albertson says
I live in an area where we dont get a lot of humidity. But this summer we had way more than normal. I just had to kind of muscle my way through it. I don’t have any practice doing humidity otherwise haha.
kookyrunner says
Yes the humidity this summer has been pretty awful everywhere!
Marcia says
Brace yourself for the weather heading your way. The heat we got hit with is pretty much the worst of the season. Holy humidity and triple digit heat index Batman!
Congrats on a strong peak week!
kookyrunner says
Oh the weather has arrived and I am so sad about it š I ended up doing my run on the treadmill today. Hoping to get out early enough tomorrow to get in some miles outdoors before the humidity hits.
vicki says
Congrats on getting through your peak week! Have a great vacation.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Vicki!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Great job with your workouts – those two a days would definitely tire me out so the rest sounds like the way to go. I hope that the yoga and stretching will help you feel better!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Janelle! I’m dedicated to doing either a yoga dvd workout or yoga type stretches every day this week. Hoping this will get me back on track.
Jenn says
Great work! And look at all your pretty shoes! š
Humidity is just a part of life, here. There’s no way to really “deal” with it. It’s just the state of being. I hate it but it’s just how we roll in the Sunshine State.
I need to get back to yoga, too. It’s such an easy thing that makes such a huge difference, and I neglect it terribly.
kookyrunner says
I could never live in Florida because I hate the heat too much, lol. I don’t know how you do it, especially with the year long humidity!
I’ve been neglecting yoga for months and now my body is really starting to feel it. I’ve been stretching more and doing more yoga poses this week so I’m hoping that will help!
Liz Dexter says
I really feel it when I don’t do my yoga class at least once a week: I’m sure getting back into your practice will help, though. A good week apart from that, though, right? We seem to have slipped right into Autumn now in the UK, very odd. Not sure if the summer’s coming back. But running in the rain on Sunday was certainly fantastic!
kookyrunner says
I’ve been doing more yoga poses and stretching this week so I hope that it pays off if I’m more consistent about it!
Chrissy says
The humidity is tough! I’ve been trying to get up early in the mornings to do most of my runs lately – that seems to help and make it feel easier.
kookyrunner says
Oh yeah, the earlier you can get out there the better! This week it’s been super hot by 9 am!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
Yoga definitely helped me with tight hips, hopefully it helps you too! Peak week is always tiring for me. My next one will be the week of September 22nd. I remember I was really tired during my peak week this month, so I’m kind of expecting to feel that way next month too. Great job on your workouts this week and pushing through!
kookyrunner says
I’ve really been doing a lot more stretching and yoga this week so I hope that it helps for my upcoming long run!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Enjoy that staycation! Sorry about the weather!
It’s so hard to get it all done. I love my yoga, but sometimes it’s really hard to motivate myself to do it.
You did a fantastic job this week!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Judy! The weather has been unbearable this past few days but it’s supposed to be much cooler on Friday so I’m looking forward to that!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
If I didn’t heave a treadmill, there is absolutely no way I’d be out there! Thankfully my race is over. š
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You’re smart for listening to your body, especially when your mileage is up at peak. Wasn’t last week’s weather just the best? Sadly, it’s a disgusting mess out there now…
Enjoy your week off from work!
kookyrunner says
Yes last week the weather was a dream, but this week, not so much lol
The Accidental Marathoner says
You are doing an amazing job! Unfortunately, we are still dealing with the humidity. I flew into DC for business today and was planning to run 10 miles. Mechanical problems delayed my flight by over 4 hours, so no run for me. UGH. Maybe some yoga in my hotel room so I will have at least done SOMETHING!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Linda! Ugh, so sorry to hear about your delayed flight, but hope you were able to get in some yoga š
Hannah says
Good job with peak week – and with taking that extra rest day when you needed it! And it sounds amazing to have a week off work + taper week at the same time.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Hannah!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
Yay for nice running weather! Iām glad that you got to enjoy it. I was so thankful that Saturday morning was a gorgeous day for my long run. It was only 61 degrees when I started my run!
kookyrunner says
I feel like we always appreciate those random cooler weather days after suffering through heat and humidity all summer!
Fairytales and Fitness says
I really do think the weather plays a big part in our motivation AND how good our runs feel! I hope you have more runs that felt as good as your 5 miler!
kookyrunner says
So true. The summer heat and humidity just tends to make all my runs feel super hard.
