Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone had a great weekend. For those dealing with Hurricane Florence – you are all in my thoughts and prayers and please stay safe! It seems like the storm lost some momentum as the days went on so I’m hoping that the damage won’t be as bad!
I kept it light this week (sorry for the lack of photos) since it was race week! Here’s how my workouts went for my last week of training.
Monday, September 10
Yoga for Recovery (30 minutes).
Decided to take it easy on my body after a weekend full of workouts.
Tuesday, September 11
Walking (1 mile) + 2 mile run.
Just needed a quick workout to shake out my legs, but still keep them fresh before race weekend.
Wednesday, September 12
Boot Camp (60 minutes).
It was good to get back to my weekly boot camp class after skipping it last week. She really did a full total body workout and it was amazing!
Thursday, September 13
3 mile run.
Last run before the weekend. It was a good run at a comfortable pace.
Friday, September 14
Spinning (30 minutes).
I did a quick 30 minute spinning class on my Peloton bike in the morning, worked a half day and then hopped on the Amtrak train around 1pm to head into Philly. The expo wasn’t that big so we were in and out rather quickly, but managed to snap a quick photo.
Saturday, September 15
Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia 5K and 10K (Race recap coming later this week)
I ran the 5K first and then rushed back to the start line to run the 10K. I only had about 4 minutes in between both races. It was hard, but I did it!
Sunday, September 16
Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon (Race Recap coming later this week)
Everything hurts…but I finished! I really enjoyed the new course this year. It definitely got pretty warm during the last 3 miles of the race, with the last mile being directly in the sun, but overall it was okay. I think I really would have enjoyed it more if my hip cooperated and I didn’t have this darn blister on my foot! 22.4 miles done for the weekend!
Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon
Total Weekly Mileage: 27.4 miles
Summary: 5 runs, 1 spinning classes, 1 Boot Camp class, 1 Yoga DVD class, 1 Walk
Grade This Week – A
Well this was certainly a crazy week and a whirlwind weekend! I was happy with my decision to take it light on my workouts this week since I ran a lot of miles this weekend. Philadelphia was a lot of fun. It was humid (which seems to be the theme for this race every year) but it wasn’t unbearable like it has been previous years. I’ll be taking it easy over the next few days to recover from this weekend. My next two half marathons are in October so I’ll be jumping back into training for those shortly.
That’s it for this week – thanks for reading!
How was your week? Have you ever done multiple races in one weekend?
