Welcome to the final installment of my San Diego adventures. Catch up on Day 1 + Expo and my race recaps!
This was my 3rd #WeRunSocial meet-up. I attended my first meet-up in Chicago last year and hosted a meet-up with Dani for the NYC Half Marathon back in March.
What is #WeRunSocial?
Simply put, #WeRunSocial is “a crew with the sole purpose of running all the miles and winning life on the interwebs”. I think that sums it up perfectly! Through #WeRunSocial I’ve met some pretty awesome people. I love this crew because it’s welcoming to runners of all different speeds, gender, race, backgrounds, etc. Being a slower runner, I often felt intimidated by other running clubs, but I feel like I “fit in” with this crew, and that means a lot to me. Also I love the motivation that I get just by looking at posts with the #WeRunSocial hashtag on social media. Don’t feel like running one day? Check out the hashtag and get inspired.
The #RnRSD Meet-up!
I was super pumped for the meet-up because I would have the opportunity to meet so many people in real life. It’s nice to follow people on social media, but real friendships form from face-to-face interaction. After the fun half marathon, I went back to my hotel to shower and change. Karla and I made our way down to the meet-up via the San Diego Trolley.
We arrived and saw a huge gathering! I loved seeing so much of the crew all in one place. Soon after we arrived we decided to join Jenn and have a Suja cocktail (champagne + Suja Spark). It was nice “healthier” take on the Mimosa and it was really good!
I really enjoyed talking with everyone and discussing all things San Diego and running. It was nice to finally talk in person to so many people that I follow on social media! I also had the chance to speak to Carlee. She’s super positive and sweet and I really enjoyed chatting with her.
There were a few giveaways during the meet-up as well, including t-shirts and Plantronics headphones!
Overall the meet-up was everything I expected (and much more). I can’t wait to attend another meet-up in Chicago next month (hopefully)!
Have you ever gone to a #WeRunSocial meet-up?

I’ve never gone to a #WeRunSocial meet-up but I sure get the value of connecting with other runner friends I’ve met through social media! What a great way to connect! If I run RnR Chi next month, I’ll definitely want to connect with you!

Yes I really hope we get the chance to meet up next month!

Wow, that looks fun and far less intimidating than I’d picture. I think I’d be a little nervous going to a big meetup on my own still, i’m great at socializing on instagram, but in person am a total clam!

I’m very much the same way – I’m an introvert by nature, but the meet-ups are very fun and I have always felt very welcome!
