Congratulations to the winner of my Honey Stinger Giveaway, Ben!
Earlier this week I was thinking about some new, and old, brands/products that I love, so I decided to write a blog about these items! I came up with a total of six things that I’m loving right now. Maybe you know of some of these brands, and maybe some are new to you, but I love to talk about products that help me with my fitness and running goals. Also be sure to enter my PRO Compression Giveaway below. Enjoy!
BodyMedia LINK Armband – I’ve been using this for over a year and I love it. Basically it’s an armband that you wear on your left arm. Contestants on The Biggest Loser also use this gadget as well. It helps keep me accountable for my daily steps and calorie burn. I also like that it syncs up to my iPhone so I can get a real time status of my calories burned, steps taken, etc. You can also log your meals on the BodyMedia website, but to be honest, I rarely do this. I need to be a more disciplined when it comes to that!
HeadSweats – I’ve use my Headsweats race hat for a few races this year, including the rainy race from hell (RnR DC) and I love it. I also have the race visor as well. The race hat is super light and doesn’t feel “hot” on my head. You know how some hats seem to trap heat? This one is the complete opposite. Also I have a small head, so it’s always hard for me to find adult hats that fit (no joke – I own a few kids hats). This hat in the S/M size fits very well!
Morton Epsom Lotion – This.is.amazing! I’ve been using this for a few weeks before and after my races and it works better than any muscle rub I have ever used. My grandmother told my mom about it and then she told me. I haven’t seen this advertised anywhere online or in magazines so I feel like it’s a hidden gem (to me anyway)! So far I’ve only been able to find it on Amazon. I find that using the lotion in addition to compression socks has really helped in speeding up my recovery time between races!
New Grip Power Pads – Back in March, Ryan from WeightLiftingGloves.com reached out to me via twitter about trying their Power Pads. I really love using weight machines and using free weights in my boot camp classes so of course I was interested. I typically use weightlifting gloves but I am so impressed with the power pads. Lots of cushioning and of course, a great grip! I’ll be doing a review for these on the blog soon so stay tuned!
Nike Siren Running Sunglasses – This is one of my more recent purchases (in the past month) that I picked up from my local Cohen’s Fashion Optical. I normally run with my regular glasses but they were not that comfortable so I decided to look into running sunglasses. I tried running with regular sunglasses but they were too heavy, plus I couldn’t see that well since they didn’t have my prescription. I really fell in love with the Nike Siren sunglasses at my local eyeglass store. Granted it was more than I wanted to spend ($100+), but this is such a great investment and I know I will have these sunglasses for a long time (I really only wear them for racing). These sunglasses are SUPER lightweight and do not slip off of my nose. In addition they have my prescription (so I can actually see into the distance) and I added the “no-glare” technology as well. They also have 100% UVA and UVB protection.
PRO Compression – If you read my blog, then you already know how I feel about PRO Compression socks and leggings (click here and here for my previous posts). This is my second year as an ambassador for the company and I’m loving it! There are three main reasons I love this company:
- Products are made in the USA
- Variety of colors and patterns
- Great quality products and awesome customer service (best I have encountered in years!)
I used to primarily use my long compression socks for recovery but this year I started running more races in my long socks and the results have been good! In addition to owning the marathon and the low-trainer socks, I also own 3 pairs of their leggings and I really, really like them for basically everything – running, boot camp, spinning classes, walking, etc. Check out their website and use code PRO15 to save 40% off marathon socks or sleeves
Feeling lucky? As always, the great team over at PRO Compression will send one lucky reader a pair of marathon socks or calf sleeves. Enter for your chance to win below! This giveaway will end at 11:59 p.m. EST on April 28.
