Happy Thursday! I don’t usually post blogs on Thursdays, but today I am linking up in Thinking Out Loud, hosted by Amanda from Running With Spoons. This is my first time participating in this link up but I’m looking forward to sharing some random thoughts with everyone!
New York City Marathon
So…the NYC Marathon, my FIRST marathon, is less than 2 months away. I quite honestly don’t know how this happened and I’m not sure I was emotionally prepared for it, lol. I’ve been going through all the motions of training and trying to mentally prepare for the long runs so I feel like this just snuck up on me. I think I am finally starting to understand what people meant when they said “The marathon is the easy part, it’s the training that’s hard”. This is SO true! ust think – you probably run anywhere from 300-500 miles during a training cycle just to run 26.2 miles.
‘Tis the Season
Okay, so Fall doesn’t officially start until September 22, but I’m SO here for it! I HATE the summer. I repeat, I absolutely, 100% HATE the summer and I do a happy dance every where when August is over. I’m the person that you’ll see decked out in leather boots and a jacket, holding a pumpkin spice latte in one hand and a pumpkin in the other hand.
Seriously, what is there not to like about Fall? The weather is perfect and you can go out for a run and not feel like a hot, sweaty, salty mess. I also love all the Fall clothes and accessories, it’s just a great season. Bye Bye summer!!
I am so excited for the Fall racing season! Starting next weekend I have a race (or races) every weekend for 5 weekends in a row. I don’t race too much in the summer (just a few virtual runs here and there), so I really load up on the races in the Fall. I’ll be in Philadelphia next weekend for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Philly races, and then I have some local races in NY and CT for the next few weeks.
Because I knew I would need some motivation for my upcoming long runs this month and in October, I decided to include some races, including 4 half marathons, in those long training runs (16-20 miles). This seemed like a good idea a few months ago, but I’m curious to see how it actually plays out these next upcoming weeks!
What’s on your mind this week?
