Happy Tuesday! Welcome to another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s topic – show us your year in bling! You can write about this, or any other running related topic. Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
While I love many things about running, one of the things I love most is the bling! I love race medals for a few different reasons:
1.) It’s a nice item to receive after conquering a race
2.) Medals can be unique to a particular race series or city.
3.) Medals are pretty!
Although I did’t do a ton of races this year, I’ve loved all the race medals I have received!
Allstate Hot Chocolate 15K Philly
The 15K is one of my favorite race distances and it didn’t hurt that the race was in one of my favorite cities!
Delaware Marathon Running Festival Half Marathon
I always love running in new states and this race was no different. Such an organized race!
Boston’s Run to Remember Half Marathon
This was another new to me state, but also a very special race since it’s to honor the fallen.
Surftown Half Marathon
This was probably my best half marathon of the year and I used it as a 13.1 training long run for the Chicago Marathon. This was also my 3rd new state of the year.
SoNo 5K
I’ve done the half marathon for this race twice and this was my first time doing the 5K. I remember that the weather for this race was basically perfect!
International Chicago 5K
This was my first time running this race and it was fun, crowded but fun!
Bank of America Chicago Marathon
This is probably my most special race medal of the year. I wanted to go back to Chicago and have a better experience with the marathon and I did!
Charlotte Half Marathon
My last half marathon of the year didn’t disappoint! Although the course was SUPER hilly, it was still fun and I appreciate how kind people are in the South. This was also my 4th new state of the year!
That’s it for my year in bling!

So many great ones! I love the Run to Remember, and Surftown the best, but you have some pretty fabulous pieces there! Bling makes races so much more fun.

Totally agree – Sometimes a really nice medal makes the run worth it.

Yes! I’m eyeing Detroit. Also, I’m headed to Portland in April if you’re interested in knocking Maine off your states list.

Your bling is beautiful! That hot chocolate one… I might need to do that just for the medal. And I don’t even like medals all that much! Haha. Congrats, lady!

The Hot Chocolate 15K races always have really nice swag too – you should check them out!

That’s some great bling! (That Surftown car is so cute!) I would love to pick the brain of people who design race medals. Some of them are so incredibly creative!
kookyrunner says
That’s such a great idea!

I love the look of the Boston Run to Remember medal! I only managed two 10km events this year. I need to get a couple of events booked in for early 2020 to get some momentum.
