Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: What are five words you would use to describe yourself? You can write about this or any running related blog post. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
This week’s topic isn’t necessarily running related, but a topic we thought would be fun to cover.
Organized
I’m a super Type-A person so being organized is definitely a word that describes me well. I don’t do well with chaos so I make an effort to have a plan/to-do list daily so that I can feel accomplished. I realized how crucial this was last year when there was so much uncertainty in the world.
Passionate
If I truly believe in something, I will do my best to spread the word about it, especially when it comes to anything related to fitness. Obviously I love running, so I’m always happy to talk about the subject with new runners. It’s part of the reason I’m the run coordinator for the Black Girls Run! group in my city. Group fitness, whether in the studio or virtually, is also something I’m super passionate about. That is why I’m always share my love of Peloton and Orangetheory Fitness. Not fitness related, but I’m also really passionate about social justice issues and food insecurity. I don’t touch on those topics on my blog, but I do a lot of work in spare time for both.
Motivated
I always thought of myself as a pretty motivated person but I proved it to myself last year. The first day of lockdown I did my own OTF style workout for an hour. It was at that point that I knew I would be okay and would definitely be self-motivated to workout at home. It’s definitely not easy, and some mornings it’s a struggle, but I know that working out is necessary for my physical and mental health, so it’s always worth it. Planning my workouts for the week on Sunday evenings is one way I stay motivated to workout as well.
Funny
I make an effort to laugh every day. I am firm believer that laughter is good for the soul. This is why I’m all about funny memes and watching ridiculous videos on TikTok. There’s a lot of pain and sadness in the world so I can bring some humor to anyone, it’s totally worth it. Plus, who doesn’t love to laugh?!
Friendly
Although I’m an introvert and tend to be quiet when first meeting someone, I always try to be friendly. When running outside I always greet runners with a smile, wave or a head nod. Sometimes this isn’t acknowledged, but that’s okay, at least I know I did the right thing!
Tell me: What are five words you would use to describe yourself?

You are definitely a highly motivated and disciplined person, Kim! That shines clearly though your weekly summaries. You mention a good point about planning the workouts on Sunday for the week. I find that having a plan helps me too.
I think it’s fine to touch on the topics of your non-fitness passions here and there. 😉
Btw, the picture under “Funny” isn’t showing up for me – maybe the problem is on my side, I’m not sure.
kookyrunner says
Thank you! 🙂 Yes, having a plan of my workouts for the week is definitely super helpful for me. It keeps me on track!
Glad that the funny photo finally popped up!
Catrina says
PS: now the fun photo did show up after all!

I see all these traits in you and we’ve only met IRL once! I think a lot of us runners are inherently motivated–it’s what gets us off the couch, after all! I definitely see you as funny–I love your sense of humor!
kookyrunner says
I can’t believe that I’ve known you for so long as we’ve only meet IRL once – so crazy! Totally agree with you about runners being motivated. We have to be to get up so early for long runs, lol.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I definitely did have fun with this topic, Kim ! So thank you.
Speaking of funny — nope, not a word that would come to mind for me. Except when I inadvertently switch up words or say something that Mr. Judy turns into a pun! You are so right, though, laughter is important!
kookyrunner says
So glad you had fun with the topic! i know we haven’t meet IRL yet but I do think that you’re funny!
Kimberly Hatting says
YOU chose the perfect five words!! I had a hard time picking just five…not that I’m such a flamboyant individual, but it was really tough fine-tuning that search. I love all these qualities about you 😉 I agree with what you said about laughter…we all need it!!
kookyrunner says
Thanks #kimtwin! I had a hard time too. I started writing the post on Saturday but then had to leave it for a few hours and come back to finish it so I could narrow down the words.
Darlene S Cardillo says
This was hard. And now that I read other blogs, I think there are some other words that I could have picked.
I think you picked the perfect words. They all come across in your blog.
I think some introverts are loners and some are friendly. You are definitely friendly. I think I am too.
kookyrunner says
After reading all the blogs this morning I was amazed that almost all of them mentioned being an introvert.
Denise @runheartfit says
I only know you through your blog and IG but I definitely see all those traits in you. Friendly is such a good thing to be and I’m the same way, quiet at first but always friendly. And I think I’m hysterical !🤣🤣🤣
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Denise!
Shathiso says
Just from what I’ve been able to see from your blog posts over the last few words, I’d say you’ve used the exact right words to describe yourself! And those are all such fundamental traits to have. By the way, what’s up with runners who don’t acknowledge a smile or wave! LOL.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! It was hard to narrow down the list to five words so it took me a while to write the post!
Deborah Brooks says
I definitely see all of these traits in you! I know we have only met once in person (we must change that) . Your passion and sense of humor come out in your writing. I love how organized you are with your workouts. Fun post
kookyrunner says
Yes, we must definitely change that. I plan on doing a lot of traveling next year to make up for lost time 🙂
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I was nodding my head as I was reading your post – I most certainly see all of these traits in you!
This was a fun but hard topic…I confess I started drafting mine a few days ago but then I got stuck and didn’t finish it…may need to get back to it. Fun to read what others have shared!
kookyrunner says
Awwe, thanks so much Michelle! I agree -it was a hard blog to write because there are so many words to choose from. It was a process for me to narrow it down!
Jenn says
I see you in all of these!
Passion and determination are so important, and you definitely shine in those areas. This was a fun post. I’m loving seeing how everyone views themselves!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jenn! I agree – this was such a fun post and it really made me think!
Zenaida Arroyo says
As i mentioned to you earlier, this was a good topic to write about. 🙂 I’ve met you once but have been reading your blog for YEARS. Everything you wrote definitely describes you.
kookyrunner says
This was such a fun topic – I definitely had to think hard about which words to select 🙂 I’m hopeful we can meet up sometimes in 2022. I hope I can travel a lot next year to make up for lost time, lol.
Coco says
These are great words for you, Kim. I sure do appreciate your friendliness and humor, and am inspired by your motivation.
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much coco! 🙂
Jenny says
Hmmm… so many people mentioned being introverts. I wonder if blogging appeals to introverts in some way? Maybe the extroverts are too busy out and about to sit home and write a blog post!
Of all your words, I think “funny” can be an under-appreciated one. Like you said, soooo important to laugh every day!
kookyrunner says
That’s what I am thinking as well. I was really surprised to see how many of us are introverts!
Jessie says
I’ve only met you once in person, but you definitely came across as very friendly!
I wish I was a tad bit more organized…my closet gets out of control quickly 🙂
What a fun post, thanks for sharing!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! It was so much fun meeting you in NYC a few years ago 🙂
