Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: How will you celebrate Global Running Day?. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
A little background on the day – Global Running Day is a worldwide celebration of running that encourages people of all ages and abilities to get moving. It is held annually on the first Wednesday of June. Participants of all ages and abilities pledge to take part in some type of running activity by submitting their names through the Global Running Day website. This day plays an important role, reminding us of the positives that running can offer and the power of unification. During the past two years, many people have turned to running as a solution to help release anxiety, gain perspective, cope with cabin fever, and keep up wellbeing.
How am I celebrating? Well I just realized I’m actually signed up for an OTF class that morning, so I’ll run there and at home to equal my 5K for the day. I signed up for NYRR Virtual Global Running Day 5K so I still plan on getting in 3.1 miles that day, although I probably won’t be able to submit my run and time on the website since I’m splitting up the miles.

I’m planning to do my usual trail run–no fanfare. But I’m reflecting on how glad I am to have running in my life!
kookyrunner says
That sounds like an awesome way to celebrate!
Kimberly Hatting says
Wednesday’s are usually my #5at5 day with Barb, so it’s a perfect fit for Global Running Day. I’ll also be encouraging my non-runner friends to lace-up & give it a try 🙂
kookyrunner says
that’s awesome that you already had a run scheduled for the day anyway 🙂
Catrina says
Of course I’ll go running! But I may ditch my Garmin for a change. It’s nice to be out running without looking at the pace or the distance.
Thanks for the link to the Global Running Day website – I didn’t know that existed!
kookyrunner says
Love the idea of ditching the Garmin for your run tomorrow!
Deborah Brooks says
Since I left, I have not had the chance to run, but I can’t miss global running day! I also signed up for the virtual 5k. Have a good one!
kookyrunner says
It should be so cool to run where you are currently! i can’t wait to see photos from your run tomorrow 🙂
Jenny says
Hmm! I’m definitely running tomorrow. I was planning on doing speed work but maybe I’ll do the virtual 5k instead? That sounds fun. Thanks for the reminder!
kookyrunner says
Doing speed work on Global Running day sounds awesome!

I’m planning to get my run in the morning and spread awareness for a charity that I’m fundraising for! I’m raising money for Friends For Life animal shelter. I love dogs so it was pretty much a no-brainer for me!
kookyrunner says
Love that you are using your miles to fundraise!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I think you should be able to post your run if you complete a minimum of 3.1 miles since the goal of Global Running Day to encourage people to run.
kookyrunner says
That’s good to know. I’m going to post my run this afternoon.
Chocolaterunsjudy says
It’s funny, I wasn’t planning to run tomorrow since I ran today, but my week has kind of gone sideways so maybe I’ll add in a recvoery run. Thanks for the reminder!
kookyrunner says
It worked out well for me this year because I was planning on running anyway – but I probably would have adjusted my schedule to run today regardless lol.
Michelle says
Wednesdays are run days for me so it works out great – though I’m sure I would have made plans to run anyways 🙂
kookyrunner says
LoL, same here!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I also celebrated by running for 45 minutes. It was a great run!
kookyrunner says
Glad you had a nice run on Global Running Day!
