Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: How will you celebrate Global Running Day? Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
What is Global Running Day?
Global Running Day is a worldwide celebration of running that encourages people of all ages and abilities to get moving. It is held annually on the first Wednesday of June. Participants of all ages and abilities pledge to take part in some type of running activity by submitting their names through the Global Running Day website. This day plays an important role, reminding us of the positives that running can offer and the power of unification. During the past two years, many people have turned to running as a solution to help release anxiety, gain perspective, cope with cabin fever, and keep up wellbeing.
How am I celebrating?
I signed up for an Orangetheory Fitness class on Wednesday morning. There will be a new signature workout called “Tread Trail”, so I’m looking forward to seeing what that is all about. I also signed up for Virtual NYRR Global Running Day 5K so I’ll finish up my miles at home to hit the 3.1 miles for the day.
How can you celebrate Global Running Day?
Sign up for the Virtual NYRR Global Running Day Race
Run with a local running group
Sign up for a goal race
Support a small business that specializes in running
Donate to a Running Charity
Tell me: What are you doing for Global Running Day?

Topic for next week – You’ve won an all-expenses paid trip to run a race anywhere in the world. What race would it be?

I’m meeting Erica tomorrow for a Go Run Tour along the lakefront! I’m really excited!
kookyrunner says
Oh that’s awesome!
Kimberly Hatting says
I love GRD! Not only does it celebrate the very sport we all know & love, it encourages ALL to participate, thus increasing our “membership “ 🙂 I think everyone has the potential to be a runner, and GRD encourages the non-runners to at least give it a try. I’ll probably be doing a 5@5 to celebrate the day!
kookyrunner says
Totally agree! I always hope that people who don’t consider themselves “runners” get inspired to go out for a run on GRD.
Debbie says
Happy Global Running Day Eve! I’m booked with clients tomorrow straight through from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM so my run is going to have to be super early or in the evening. I’m not an evening runner…
kookyrunner says
I’m not an evening runner either – my energy is SO depleted after the work day.
Catrina says
Thanks for the reminder! I have an 85-minute run tomorrow. I’ll definitely be thinking of Global Running Day while I’m running it!
kookyrunner says
That’s awesome! Enjoy your run tomorrow 🙂
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
I am torn… GRD has always been a freebie 5K for our local running club, but it’s also my group ride night!! Yes, I am torn between running and biking!! I will run in the morning, but maybe join the group ride after work. Hope my running club doesn’t hate me 🙂
kookyrunner says
Ugh it’s so hard when two things you really want to do end up falling on the same day!
San says
I’ve started a new summer run challenge this week and I’ll be joining you for the NYRR 5k!
Darlene Cardillo says
running of course… after work most likely.
kookyrunner says
Hope you had a great run!
Deborah Brooks says
I did my global running day miles today! We can’t have just one day to celebrate our love of running right ?!
kookyrunner says
I couldn’t agree more!
Black Knight says
I didn’t know about the Global Running Year: my fault!
Now this event is on my calendar for the next years.
kookyrunner says
So glad you can add it to your calendar for next year!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I didn’t run on Wednesday. Had to do some errands then went to school to set up my room. I should have run in the evening but didn’t. Oh well. 🙂
kookyrunner says
You can always celebrate GRD o another day! 🙂
Shathiso says
Happy Belated Global Running Day! I did a 10K run after the school drop off. It was such a tough run for some reason but even though I didn’t love the run itself, I love the fact I did it!
kookyrunner says
Those hard runs can be rough but kudos to you for sticking it out!
