Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: How will you celebrate Global Running Day? You can write about any running related topic. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
Global Running Day is tomorrow, June 2. How are you planning on celebrating this important running holiday? I’m doing three things tomorrow to celebrate the day.
Running
This is probably the most obvious way to celebrate, lol. I am planning on doing a 30 min Peloton run in the morning – a 2020 Pride Run with Becs. It has a pretty good rating so I think I’ll like it.
Donating
A few years ago I heard about Back on My Feet, an organization that combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. I’m always impressed by the amazing stories they highlight on their social media channels and website. I’ll be making a donation to BOMF to help them expand their services in additional cities.
Also, as a BibRave Pro, I am taking part in the virtual Back on My Feet Running Festival in September. I’ll be running the 10K, but they have a bunch of distances available. If you’d like to join me, use discount code “BibRave5!” to save $5 off registration.
Stretching
I’ve been REALLY slacking on my post-workout stretches and my body is starting to feel it. I know that the best thing I can do to take care of my body is to allow proper recovery after my runs and workouts.
Tell me: How will you celebrate Global Running Day?

Topic for next week – What are your tips for running in the rain, cold, or hot weather? Feel free to write about this or any running related topic. We hope you’ll link up with us!

Those are all SUCH great ways to celebrate National Runnning Day, Kim!
I might run. I might hike. Not sure yet! I might do both — because it’s gonna got hot around here again.

I just checked the weather for this week and can’t believe it will be so warm after the crazy cold and wet weather we had this weekend, lol.
Kimberly Hatting says
YAY 😉 Aren’t we lucky to have a day devoted to our very sport? Not that we need a designated to do so, though. Barb and I will probably do our usual #5at5, but I might try to rally a few others for a short group run after work. Enjoy!!
kookyrunner says
Sounds like you’ll be doing a good amount of running to celebrate the day!
Darlene says
I definitely plan to run.
Maybe hike or walk.
kookyrunner says
I might throw in an afternoon walk as well, depending on the weather.
Catrina says
That Back on my Feet organization sounds very interesting, Kim. Thanks for highlighting it. I had a look at their website and thought it would be great if had something like that in Europe. I’ll have a look.
Your celebration run sounds fun! I went for a 6 miler this morning and this afternoon I have track work. Yay!
kookyrunner says
Happy to share about the organization! I think it’s great when the power of fitness can be used for something good and to help people.

I’ll be doing an 8K Run tomorrow to celebrate. And then possibly a walk with the kiddos in the afternoon! 🙂 Love that you’ll be donating to such a great cause. Stories of homelessness always leave me feeling so sad.
kookyrunner says
I hope that your 8K run went well today!
San says
I ran today and will on Thursday, so tomorrow I will “technically” not be celebrating by running, but I’ll move my body in other ways and just love the community around this day! Also a great day to support important causes.
kookyrunner says
That’s the best thing about GRD – so many ways to participate that don’t include running. Like you mentioned, I think just moving your body is a great way to celebrate.
Deborah Brooks says
A run and a stretch are the perfect way to celebrate! have a great day
kookyrunner says
Hope you’re having a great Global Running day as well!

All great ways to celebrate the day! I will definitely be running tomorrow! Back on My Feet is such a great organization – I’m really looking forward to supporting their Running Festival.
kookyrunner says
Me too! I’ve learned more about the organization over the past year and love everything that they stand for.
Jenny says
Well, I’ve been feeling left out because I can’t run on Global Running Day (unless you count a pool run.) But your third point reminded me that I can do a nice long stretch and foam roll session, to get me back to running ASAP. Thanks! Enjoy the day!
kookyrunner says
Yes! So many different ways to get involved in Global Running Day 🙂
Rachel says
I’ve been slacking on my stretching, too. I added some in today finally! I hope you had a nice Peloton run!
kookyrunner says
I’m aiming to do some form of stretching daily in June – wish me luck!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Happy Global Running Day! I will be getting in a few miles later this evening!
kookyrunner says
Glad that you’ll be able to get out for a run to celebrate!
Coco says
Back On My Feet is such a great organization. I’ll have to check out thar event.
kookyrunner says
I’m looking forward to sharing more about the organization as the running festival gets closer.
Zenaida Arroyo says
I am also really bad with stretching. No matter how many times I read about it in several posts, I still do not do it. 🙁 Today I did the Global Running Day run with Rebecca and I enjoyed it!
kookyrunner says
I have the BRD run with Rebecca bookmarked so I’m glad that you like it! Selena also has an outdoor one that I may do as well.
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Back on my Feet is such a great organization! I hope you had a great Global Running Day!
kookyrunner says
I did! Definitely different than how I’ve celebrated in years past but still great.
