Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: Share your favorite running item(s) you’ve tried this year Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
I’ll admit that I haven’t tried many new running items this year as I haven’t run any races, but I have come across three items that I think are worth sharing for today’s post.
SYROKAN High Impact Sports Bra
I randomly came across this sports bra on Amazon and it immediately caught my eye because it was for high impact workouts and it looked very similar to my favorite style of sports bra that was discontinued. i have worn the Moving Comfort Juno sports bra for years but it was discontinued earlier this year. Brooks released other styles of sports bras and I tried those but they didn’t work for me. I didn’t have high hopes for the Syrokan sports bra since I’ve never heard of the brand before, but it held up very well for two different HIIT workouts. I need to replace a few of my older sports bras so I’ll be purchasing a few more of these soon. I also love that they come in lots of nice colors too!
Honey Stinger Strawberry Lemonade Rapid Hydration Mix
I LOVE this stuff! I started using it last month and I’m hooked. The flavor is spot on, it dissolves in water quickly and it tastes great. I especially love to use it during my runs or HIIT workouts since I sweat the most during those workouts and definitely need to rehydrate.
I discovered this supplement brand through a conversation with my ART doctor. I asked him how he dealt with muscle fatigue and soreness, especially after doing marathons and ultramarathons. He named a few things, including THORNE Magnesium. I did some research on the brand and the supplement and decided to give it a try. I’ve been using it for a few months and it has definitely made a difference. I won’t say it completely takes the soreness away all the time but it decreases it a good amount.
Tell me: What favorite running item(s) have you tried this year?

OOH, that Honey Stinger rehydration item looks interesting! I have not seen that before…the flavor sounds great, too! I’m about due to replace a bunch of my exercise bras; I’ll check out the one you you recommended. If there’s a lot of colors to choose from, I might be in trouble LOL
kookyrunner says
haha I knew you would love all the different colors, lol
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Thanks for the share. Yeah I need to replace some bras too.
I don’t put anything in my water. But I should try your supplement. Not getting any younger
kookyrunner says
For a while I was just using water during my workouts but I based on how i was feeling during the workouts, I knew I had to add some electrolytes.

I started taking magnesium a few years ago and I think it really helps with all of the PMS symptoms. I am a big fan of honey stinger chews but have not tried their hydration tabs. thanks for the ideas
kookyrunner says
No problem – hope you like the hydration mix if you try it!
Catrina says
That’s interesting with the magnesium supplement, Kim. I remember reading that most people don’t have enough magnesium and that we should all be supplementing it, especially active people.
I take magnesium every day and since then I have never experienced cramping on a long run. Like you, I still feel some muscle soreness, though!
kookyrunner says
Oh really? That’s new to me – I didn’t know that about magnesium, especially for active people, but that totally makes sense.

I hadn’t heard of Throne Magnesium — I’ve used calm in the past, but since I haven’t been training hard, in general, I haven’t been too sore — always good to know about products like these!
I still haven’t tried the HS Rapid Hydration. I love their chews and waffles, but I still stick to my Nuun for hydration. They have a rapid version, too, which I have tried and liked.
I really liked the cooling gaiter — but I never seem able to find the darn thing when I want it (like this morning).
kookyrunner says
I’ve heard good things about Calm too.
i didn’t know that Nuun had a rapid version – that’s very cool! I used Nuun for a while but had to stop using it a few years ago due to tummy issues.

Interesting finds! I just invested in a Theragun to try to un-tightem my calves. I hope it workd!
kookyrunner says
The Theragun is awesome! I got my mom one for Christmas but I use it too, lol

I’ll have to check that bra out. I love when you find a good sports bra that doesn’t break the bank. I like most of mine to be high support but I found that Old Navy has some good ones that are Medium support but hold up well! Their workout clothes have been my favorite quarantine find!
kookyrunner says
Same! I saw another brand of sports bras that looked great, but there were $70 each which is just too expensive for my taste!
Michelle D. says
Oh that HS flavor sounds like a good one.
I’m really curious about the Throne supplement – something to help reduce muscle soreness would be great!
kookyrunner says
I really like the supplement and I haven’t had any adverse effects from it.
Jenny says
Hmmm, so magnesium to reduce muscle soreness? I’m intrigued! I just started taking a supplement that has a lot of minerals and other nutrients and there’s magnesium in it. Probably not as much as this Thorne supplement. Keep us updated on how this works for you please!
kookyrunner says
I’ve been using the magnesium for a few months and so far so good!
Shathiso says
I’ve been feeling so tired lately – I think I will need to use magnesium as well. It’s worked for me before (the Slow Mag) and for some reason haven’t thought to use it for marathon training but this is a good reminder to use it again!
kookyrunner says
Sometimes it’s hard to remember what supplements to take since there are so many of them! I hope that the Slow Mag works for you again 🙂

I love the Syrokan with the underwire for running (SYROKAN Women’s Full Support High Impact Racerback Lightly Lined Underwire Sports Bra). I actually was in a port-a-potty line complaining to a friend about not being able to find a good Brooks replacement and the girl in front of me recommended Syrokan….and I love them. Love them, love them, love them! I am small, but busty, and I love that they come in so many sizes.
kookyrunner says
This is my first experience with the Syrokan brand and I am so impressed so far! I really wish Brooks could have kept the Juno sports bra in their lineup – it was perfect for me!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I will check out that bra. I am still wearing some really old ones because I have not found any that I like. I also tried the new Brooks bras and did not like them at all. They were not supportive for me.
kookyrunner says
Same for me! Their new sports bras aren’t supportive at all.
Wendy says
Wow, that bra sure looks like the Brooks Juno! I’m glad you shared it.
kookyrunner says
Right?! It definitely looks similar and it provides great support too.
