Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: What are you looking forward to this year? You can write about this, or any other running topic. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
I’m looking to a few fun things in 2023…
Celebrating my Birthday
I’ve got a “milestone’ birthday coming up in April (40!). I don’t have any elaborate plans for a party or a vacation, but I’m going to try to get into a Saturday60 bootcamp class with Jess Sims at the Peloton studios in NYC. If not (it’s super hard to snag spots), I’ll be at OTF for my typical birthday burn class. I’m truly a believer that age is just a number so that’s why I typically don’t make a big deal out of birthdays, but milestone ones are always fun!
Giving back to my community
I’m looking forward to using my professional skills to continue to help a charity in my city. This organization puts together a huge back to school event every July where kids can shop for backpacks, school supplies, sneakers and clothes. Everything is free which is amazing. I enjoy helping them with their emails and social media posts and will get more involved with the organization this year.
Hitting my Strength Training goals
I’m looking forward to seeing if my dedication to more strength training will pay off when it comes to my other workouts, like running and cycling. I also want to feel strong(er) and I know this is a great way to achieve that. It will be a fun journey to take this year.
Tell me: What are you looking forward to this year?

It sounds like you have some fun and fulfilling goals for this year! I’ve got at least one race on the calendars–my son and I are going to Leadville in July to do a 15 mile trail race. I’m excited but nervous–the altitude is not something I can train for. I’m sure there will be other races on the calendar–I just haven’t committed yet.
I’ve got plans to visit my sister at her winter place in Cali in March. I also hope to go see Holly again for some waterskiing! Other than that, I’m just going to wing it.

You have some fun trips planned already! i love that you visit Holly and your sister every year.

Oh wow, that’s a big milestone, Kim! I hope you get that spot in the NYC studio. As the Peloton Queen, you deserve it!
Will you be getting more benefits from your company, e.g. a couple of extra off days?
kookyrunner says
Awwe thanks Catrina! Keeping my fingers crossed to get into the Peloton studio class.
Actually my company moved to unlimited vacation days this year, which is great, but I’ll probably just stick to my 4 weeks off per year.
Jenny says
So how do you get into a studio class? They should look at all your Peloton classes and put you in immediately (not to mention it’s your birthday as well!) I hope that works out.
I’m also focusing on strength more this year, and nutrition, and sleep! I’m hoping all three of these will help my running. And I have a big race in April. I’m excited about this year!
kookyrunner says
Peloton has a website that you can access to book the classes, but they release all the classes for the following week on one day and I swear it’s like Hunger Games trying to get a class reservation! People grab up all the spots so quickly.

My sister turns 40 this year too! November – she moves between being super excited and a bit tentative but I keep telling her to embrace it, and it is just a number. Two years in, I feel it is quite a nice decade to be in – so I’ll welcome you with open arms!
I’m looking forward to all the Half Marathons I’m planning this year. I’m also hoping Ditiro gets to do Iron Man as that means a trip to the ocean for me!
kookyrunner says
I’m all about embracing it! 40 is the new 30, right? lol

How fun that you’re having a milestone birthday this year, Kim! You’re such a youngster, though!
I’m looking forward to a couple of trips we have planned for the next two months and again in June!
kookyrunner says
So cool that you already have trips planned for this year!
Darlene Cardillo says
How awesome… you definitely need to do a Peleton workout in the NYC studio. When is your b-day?
I have a milestone b-day too….. I am WAY older.
I am looking forward to races and runs/meet-ups with friends. And staying healthy enough to do both.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Darlene! My birthday is April 1.
Deborah Brooks says
Ah 40! You are still a baby! I sure hope you can get into a Peloton class that day. Would be a fab way to celebrate
kookyrunner says
LoL thanks Deborah! My back and knees don’t feel young, but I still do, ha!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Yay for a milestone birthday! That will be awesome to do a live Peloton class. Crossing my fingers that you get in.
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I hope I can make it happen!
