Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: Holiday Fitness Challenges. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
Tis the season for shopping, parties and delicious holiday food! One thing that keeps me on track during this busy time of year is getting in my workouts. Also it adds an element of fun when you can incorporate challenges too. Here a few December challenges to provide you motivation through the holiday season.
Robin Arzon’s #3for31 Challenge
Robin has hosted this challenge in December for a few years and it’s one of my favorite challenges. It’s simple – commit to either 30 minutes of activity or 3 miles (walking/jogging/running) per day. The best part is that the activity can broken up throughout the day – it’s whatever works best for you! I find that this is a great way to motivate myself to get moving even if I don’t feel like it.
Apple/Garmin Watch Challenges
Both the Apple and Garmin watches also have monthly challenges and badges. This month my Apple monthly challenge revolves around exercise minutes, but next month will be something totally different. Yet another way to keep things interesting!
Strava Challenges
Every month Strava has different monthly challenges related to walking, cycling, swimming and running that you can join and December is no different. Check out some of their fun challenges for this month:

I enjoy the Garmin challenges to earn badges, but didn’t even realize they were available to sign up for until about a year ago – just thought Garmin randomly gifted you a badge if you worked out on certain holidays. LOL Now I join the newly available challenges at the beginning of each month.

I feel like a lot of people don’t know about the Garmin badges. They should advertise those better!

None of these challenges. Strava has some as well.
But I post in Virgin pulse and Evidation everyday. And I have a few races on my schedule. Plus my gym membership.
Hopefully that will keep me on track.
Thanks for sharing.

The Strava challenges are always great, and they have so many to choose from.

These are great ideas. I’m part of a Strava group with 20 other runners, and that challenge keeps me going.
We had a great runner who always was the number 1 every month. I could never beat him, even when I was training for a marathon.
Unfortunately, he suddenly died in August. Now I’m mostly leading the group and it definitely keeps me on my toes!

Love that you are so involved with Strava! I’ve meet some very nice people through different Strava groups.
So sorry for the loss of your friend in August. Its so hard when people die suddenly 🙁

I love the Garmin challenges! I got in the habit of checking the running & cycling ones each month, and the walking & “monthly activity minutes” usually happen on their own. As you know, I do the Runners World Winter Streak every year, and that definitely gets me through to the Solstice so I can look forward to the (slowly) increased daylight thereafter.

I love that you do the RW streak every year. It’s such a great way to stay on track throughout the holiday season.

For a few years now I have been participating in a holiday plan from Another Mother Runner. It hasn’t started yet, but it will soon. It has fun online challenges and running, cross training and strength training. I don’t need the motivation, so I use it more for keeping me on some sort of plan so I don’t overdo it!

The holiday plan sounds pretty cool – I’ll look into that when it’s posted as I haven’t heard about it before.

I love Robin’s #3for31 challenge! I always forget about the Garmin challenges – I’ll have to remember to take a look!

I sometimes forget about the Garmin challenges too. There’s just so many challenges to choose from!
