Happy Tuesday! This week’s topic is so much fun. Is there anything better than getting your family and friends involved in fitness?
This week’s Tuesday Topic: How do you incorporate fitness with your family? You can write about this topic, or feel free to post any running related blog post. Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
Group Fitness Classes
Group fitness classes are a great way to get your family and friends involved in fitness. There’s really something for everyone – Zumba, Yoga, Step Aerobics, Body Pump, Spinning, Boot Camp, etc. As a bonus, these classes are usually an hour so they don’t take too much time.
Staying Active on Vacations
When we go on vacations, we always try to stay active. If we can walk to our destination, we always choose to do that. It’s a great way to get in steps and view everything the city has to offer. The last time we did a family cruise we signed up for classes such as boot camp and yoga to help keep ourself accountable. It was important to use to stay active, especially on a cruise, because there is literally yummy food everywhere!
Walking or Hiking
Finding a nice park or trail for walking/hiking is another great family fitness activity. Going for a long walk is also a great way to connect as well. My sister and I have often used walks to catch up on everything. After a hike you can also enjoy a picnic which is a great way to connect as a family as well.
Running
My mom and I are the only runners in our family. It’s been fun exploring different races and cities with he rover the past few years!
Tell me: How do you incorporate fitness with your family?

Dogwalks! My husband is not an active person & I must say it really bothers me. Because of that we’re sometimes limited in what we can do & of course overall it’s just not healthy.
But there is something about walking together that encourages conversation. I’ve read it’s because we don’t make eye contact!
We both like to hike, too (although again, because of him it’s usually short hikes).

Dogwalks are great exercise! You can always have great talks during long walks, so that’s always a good thing 🙂

I am the only one in my family that runs. I have a nephew that does track but doesn’t run as often as I do. My sister goes out for a walk in the morning but I am not sure what she is going to do when it gets cold.

I’ve been trying to get my sister to run for years, but she isn’t interested, lol. I did get her to run a 5K a few years ago, so that was good.

Doing fitness stuff with family is amazing because you really get to catch up and just have fun. I used to run a lot with my cousin until she got work out of town! My dad loves walking and because of all the running, I don’t walk much with him. But I think I should incorporate that more in my routine. I also love running with my husband and it’s even better when we bring the kids along for a bike ride. My 5 year old has become a good pace maker on his bike! My 7 year old thinks I am too slow, boo!

It’s so nice that you have multiple family members that love to stay active and workout!

I thought you’d have some pics of you and your mom at the numerous races you’ve done 😉 You’re lucky she’s such a willing participant…and your father, too!

My dad isn’t a runner but he’s a great photographer!
I was having major issues uploading photos to my post last night so unfortunately that’s why they aren’t any in the post 🙁 I might try to see if I can add some later on today.

Well the hubby and I met playing tennis but we don’t play together anymore. I’ve tried to get him to run. Nope!
I talked him into hiking. He tried it but hated it so I go alone (and not often).
We do go boating but that involves sitting and chatting and eating for him.
Sigh.
I can’t wait for grandkids.

Sometimes it’s hard to get family members involved, especially in running!

You know I love your mom and I love how you both do so many healthy activities together. My mom and I will be doing an Alzheimer’s remembrance walk together in September.

That’s great that you run with your mom. I wish my girls would run with me! 🙂 They do other things like SUP, hike and Pilates with me and my sister rides with me. No other runners in the family though.
kookyrunner says
You never know, your girls might decide to run with you one day!

Great topic! My husband and I are very active, so we love going for a run or hike wherever we travel. My sister just started taking barre classes, so that’s something we’re able to do together. We also have lots of trails nearby so I’m hoping we can all do more walking and exploring.
Your mom is too cute, I love that you two run together and it was so nice to meet her!

There are so many great ways to incorporate fitness with family time. One thing we do often is just go for easy trail walks with the dogs! It gets everyone in the family out to exercise!!!
