Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: Your least favorite running costumes or outfits You can write about any running related topic. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
I love a good running costume or outfit, but I’ve had a few misses too. Either the clothes don’t fit correctly or the costume feels heavy or annoying. Here are a few of my least favorite choices.
Thanksgiving
Okay, so I know this was included in last week’s post for my favorite costumes, but it’s also going to be included here. Last year I upgraded to a more ‘hardcore’ turkey costume. I wore it to my OTF class on Thanksgiving morning and it was HOT! I was dripping sweat after the treadmill block, which I did at the beginning of class, and it never got more comfortable. I think the costume will be better for outdoor running for a Turkey Trot race.
TuTu
I’m always one to participate in theme days at my OTF studio, but this was probably my first and last time wearing a tutu. For starters, I’ve never worn a tutu (just not my thing), and it kept getting in the way when I was on the rower. Maybe the tutu was too long? I could try a shorter one, but this outfit choice was a big fail.
Worst Race Outfit Ever
There were so many issues with this outfit. This was my second half marathon and I made the mistake of wearing the race shirt on race day. The shirt didn’t fit correctly which resulted in some chafing issues. Also my shorts were not compression shorts so they kept riding up every few minutes. I constantly had to pull them down during the race. It was also like 95 degrees and way too hot for those long compression socks. It was just a comedy of errors that resulted in a horrible race day outfit. Also the race sucked too.
Tell me: Do you have a least favorite running outfit or costume?

Luckily once I found Skirt Sports I basically had almost no running outfit problems, although of course even then there are some misses! Nothing’s perfect. You get an A for effort!
kookyrunner says
I never tried Skirt Sports but their products always looked so comfortable!
Catrina says
Haha, just like me, Kim!
I made the race shirt mistake, too, and it ended up being really annoying.
Although that outfit looks great on you I’m sure it only reminds you of the horrible race experience. What did you do with the shirt after the race?
kookyrunner says
There’s nothing worse that an ill-fitting race shirt – ugh! That shirt is now part of a blanket. I had a bunch of race shirts that I no longer wore so I sent them to a company to make them into a race blanket – I use it all the time!
Catrina says
Oh, that’s genius!

You always have the best costumes.
I try to look good when I run. Of course there have been many mistakes.
kookyrunner says
There are bound to be a few outfit mistakes considering how many races we run lol.

The first time I wore a tutu for a race was a FAIL, too! Even though mine wasn’t as long as yours, it was too fluffy LOL It kept getting caught between my legs, so I had to keep “digging it outta there.” Talk about your awkward moments!
kookyrunner says
Hahaha, LoL. Yeah I can see that being a little awkward. It didn’t bother me too much when I was running on the treadmill but it was definitely a little too fluffy.
Denise says
Yeah Tutu’s are a pain. I think if it was shorter then it would stick out even more. It’s such a bummer when your outfit doesn’t work out well.
kookyrunner says
That’s a good point about a shorter tutu – I didn’t even think of that but I bet you’re right.
Coco says
I bet that turkey costume is hot — it’s so fun though! Ugh on the shorts riding up — that is the worst, because if I ignore it, then I get chafing.
kookyrunner says
I don’t really run in shorts too much because no matter the brand or style, they always seem to rise. I love to wear shorts for my Peloton rides though!
Deborah Brooks says
you do such a great job with your running costumes and themes. Those can be very hot I don’t really think they are made for running. They do make a great photo though 🙂
kookyrunner says
The photos are always worth it, even if the costume isn’t the most comfortable, lol.
Jenny says
Ha, I can see why all three of these outfits was a fail! I don’t have anything spectacular like that, but that’s because I’m boring and have never worn a costume for a race. The hot half marathon with the race shirt and compression socks sounds like a nightmare!
kookyrunner says
I really thought I might overheat during that race!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I can imagine the Turkey suit and tutu being really uncomfortable! I have definitely made some errors with my clothing choices when I first started racing. I had pants that chafed all the way through the thighs on my first marathon! And I’ve overdressed more times than I prefer to count!
kookyrunner says
I used to be the queen of overdressing, lol. Now sometimes I underdress but I still prefer that over getting hot on my runs due to a lot of clothing.
Zenaida Arroyo says
I love all of your costumes. Shorts that ride up are the worst! It is uncomfortable and chafing is bound to happen.
kookyrunner says
The chafing is the worst!
