Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: Mother’s Day Gift Guide
Moms are notoriously difficult to shop for. If you’re mom is like mine, she very rarely gives me gift ideas, so it’s always a “guessing game”. Hopefully the below list will help provide some ideas for Mother’s Day gifts for runners.
Gift Basket
Flowers and candy are great, but mother runners would definitely appreciate a gift basket full of their favorite running fuel and other running items. You can pick up a basket from any arts and crafts store (Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, etc) and then fill it up with her favorite running products. For example, my basket would probably include Nuun, Honey Stinger chews and gels, Lock Laces, hair ties, Body Glide, deodorant, sunscreen, face wipes and a running book or cookbook. The possibilities are endless and it’s a unique gift!
A Day Off
This is probably an obvious gift idea, but moms would LOVE a day off! I’m not a mom so I don’t speak from experience, but I see how hard moms work, especially mother runners. Moms that run have to make time for their training runs, children, family and work – whether that be inside or outside of the home. I’m sure they would appreciate a day off to rest, watch movies, do some shopping, basically anything! A few free hours would mean the world to a mother runner.
Gift Cards/Certificates
You can’t go wrong with a gift card/certificate! Some people think that it’s an impersonal gift but I totally disagree! What’s wrong with giving someone a gift to buy exactly what they want? Do you need some store/website ideas? I’m happy to provide a few choices! –> RunningWarehouse.com, Fleet Feet Sports, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Brooks Running, Gone For a Run, Garmin and Amazon. There are SO many other great places, but these are just a few of my favorites 🙂
Massage
A massage is a great way to pamper the mother runner in your life. There are so many types of massages to choose from, but a sports massage would be a really great choice (especially if she is training for a race, or just completed a race)!
Tell me: What’s one item you would include on your Mother’s Day gift guide?

These are great ideas, Kim! I would love a gift card!
I think my mum would appreciate a day with the family. It would be difficult to get everyone’s schedules aligned, but when would enjoy an outing to a flower show or something similar.

A day with family is always a great idea – especially if a nice Mother’s Day brunch is involved!

I love all these suggestions! It’s hard to pick a favorite, but a massage is definitely sounding rather appealing (and it’s not something I routinely treat myself to).

You 100% deserve a massage – I hope you treat yourself to one soon!

Gift card are the best.
They may seem impersonal but you can buy whatever you need or want.

I agree – I always love getting gift cards.

Massages are always welcome! Hope you treat yourself to one as well as that day off 🙂

I am off work next week and I have a massage scheduled for Thursday. I’m so excited – it’s been over 4 years since my last massage!

Usually, I’ll get my mom a gift certificate for a nail salon or something she can use. She’s hard to buy for now–she really doesn’t want or need anything!
kookyrunner says
That’s a great idea! I know that gift cards or gift certificates are often thought of as “impersonal” but I love them!
Jenny says
I want all of these!!! They’re all great ideas. I especially love the gift basket- I like getting lots of different things all at once : )
